Hi Nlp
I dont write down Scripture to memorize, but I do take alot of notes out of the Bible for my study, and once I get started, I cant stop, I absolutely love it. I have several notebooks.

I use index cards and write a scripture. As of right now every single door that opens in my house has a scripture card on it. Cabinets included. That way every time I open a door I can read whatever scripture is there. Sometimes it gives me such hope on the down days.

I used to, but mainly just read them and memorize from that now.

Really, I should write, read and say them outloud, because that uses three different parts of the brain and makes it three times more likely to remember them. I need all the help I can get!

Hey Rami...
I shared this with my daughter, she is 16, and loves the idea...she has been saved and loves the Lord so much, we are going to make some index cards to put in her purse. Thank you for this wonderful idea

I write them on index cards that are attached to a spiral. I have three of them full of scripture setting infront of my computer. I flip the cards often to meditate on them. Memorizing comes easy this way.................I'm working on filling a spiral with favorite quotes from Bible Studies and books. They are only a $1.OO at Wally world............... The pages (cards) make a natural A-shape stand...And you can take them anywhere with you. This has been the best way for me to memorize scripture with out much effort.

Also, I quote a scripture in my email signature. So every time I go to send an email, I'm forced to read God's word. Of course it goes two ways. One day I was quoting a scripture, and a friend said, "I remember that one in the bottom of your e-mail letter."

God's word does NOT come back void..lol!

I find writing/copying/paraphrasing a portion to compare with the original text is a valuable tool. Also memorization of 'my' paraphrase or original text is a way to cement it in my mind.

That is scriptural.

"These words which I command you today shall be upon your heart....You shall write them on the doorframes of your houses and upon your gates." from Deut 6.

Sometimes I've written them on index cards that I carry in my wallet; then I can take them out anytime, anywhere.

Try this, if you want to memorize a big chunk of Scripture, such as the Sermon on the Mount: Write down the verse number, then the first letter in each word, on an index card. This way, you can get up to 20 verses on a single card.

It's been years since I was into that, but it is nice to be able to recite a hymn of victory to myself when trying to fall asleep.

Clearly you have never been around Judiasm or attended a Messianic service. This passage is the first paragraph of the Shema, recited at every service. We even recite it in our home group every week.
