I have always been told to ask when you want to be forgiven but is their any limits on that?My husband and I have been married for six yrs we are truley happy and in love now.But about two years ago i made a huge mistake and almost left my wonderful husband, i thought the grass was greener on the other side. I prayed and prayed for guidence, and I got it.I realized i almost rueined a great marriage b/c I hadn't let go of feelings from my past.We both made a few mistakes in that period of our relationship, but we are willing to forgive and move on with our vows to love one another til death do us part.Does God forgive in these situations?

If you have asked for forgiveness and turned from that sin - yes indeed God forgives you!

God is gracious, and he forgives those who ask.
You are forgiven.

Yeah no doubt, your sin is no worse than mine or anyone elses, all sins need to be repented of and turned away from, once we do that we're forgiven immediately.

Do you think that anything you did surprised God? He knew you and everything you would ever do before he created the world (it says so in the Bible). If he knew what you would do, and accepted you, why would he then reject you when you did what he already knew you would do?

There is nothing that you can do that can separate you from the love of God in Christ Jesus. If you ask forgiveness, you are forgiven.

God forgave us for ALL our sins at the cross (past, present, and future). My understand is, we never need to ask for His forgiveness after we accept His gift... we only need to show our acceptance by repenting and moving forward with God's grace and mercy.

The only sin that can't be forgiven is blaspheming the Holy Spirit:

10 "And anyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man, it will be forgiven him; but to him who blasphemes against the Holy Spirit, it will not be forgiven." -Luke 12

Bless your heart, Bmartin62. You've been carrying this heavy load a long time.

Here's the proof from God's Word about your situation:

If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness 1 John 1:9

If we have confessed (to confess means "to say the same thing" - God calls it sin and so do we) and repented (turn around and go the other way and stop the sinning) then we have forgiveness and it's a done deal.

In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses Ephesians 1:7

Your sin was forgiven 2000 years ago, before you ever did it. Jesus rose from the dead to prove sin had lost it's power of death. It's done and you are free. Your debt was paid in full at the cross and you bear it no more.

So lift up your head, give God a great big "thank You!" and go hug that good hubby of yours. God bless you, dear one.

Yes God will forgive you, just ask him, and turn away for the sin, he loves you and wants what is best for you. We all sin everyday in one way or another, so keep you eye on him, let go of the past, it can't do a thing for you accept rob you of todays joy. You have done the right thing by staying in your marriage, many would have moved ahead with devorce , separation, or what ever. Simway
