I've been praying that God will use me to further His kingdom and that i would be able to help someone come to Him. out of nowhere, a fella I knew briefly when i was first saved shows up to do some temp work at my office. he is an atheist. stubborn as stubborn can be. we debate often on creation vs. evolution and while i seem to stump him, he refuses to acknowledge the possibility of God. he will only be in my office until tomorrow and then I probably won't see him again. his name is Michael and if it's not too much trouble I'd like to ask anyone who reads this to pray for his salvation. and i am also in need of advice on what i can possibly say to help he see the truth. i believe the Lord brought him to me for a reason.

thank you, brothers and sister for your support

Dan

Hi Dlindros, I'm praying both for the Lord to prepare this person's heart and for the Lord to give you just the right words. I suggest reading your Bible and talking to the Lord, drawing close to Him and being alert to any words that He may give you.

Reminber to, we can plant the seeds but it's up to the Holy Spirit to bring them to fruit. You may never know the results of what you say to this person. The Holy Spirit could bring it to mind in this person years from now and use it to draw him to the Lord. God Bless.

Rather then rehearsing the same rhetoric take a new approach and challenge him in his obedience to Christ Jesus.('Are you a good person? Have you lied, cheated or taken God's name in vein?' Admit-“[Jesus] proved He had a valid claim [to His Deity] but His own rejected His claim yet as many as receives His message; to them he claimed the right to become redeemed of God and appropriate His Name.“ John 1:11,12

If you're wrong you'll carry a rich and fulfilled existence while here 'til we're gone. Not a bad deal for hedging one's bets. If he's wrong he'll never pass go, ever, and land not in jail but hell for eternity. Does that even seem logical for a sane, self-aware being?

Often atheists are more aware of scripture than theists and are also as passionate about their beliefs.

Why don't you suggest the possibility of the two somehow being intertwined?
God created earth, life and all that is within it and for as long as this world rotates on its axis, it continues to evolve.

There is quite a few excellent points that you can share with him. If he believes in science, then he needs to make sure of what science he actually believes. Is his science based on faith or can he prove/disprove it. For example, the odds of a tornado blowing through a junkyard and assembling an airplane is ridiculous.

The Institute for Creation Research.

Of course you can argue til your face turns blue, but God is the one who can do the real changing in his life. Ask him to read the bible if he is willing, see what he thinks about the following verses.

Romans 3:23 "For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God."
Romans 5:8 "But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us."
Romans 6:23"For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord."
Romans 10:9, "that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved."

If he has some apologetic questions, there is some great sites for that. For example Josh McDowell's apologetic info.

I am also praying for him too.

Talk to an atheist the way Kirk Cameron and Ray COmfort does by using the law. By doing that, they bring thousands to Jesus Christ over the years. Go to The Way of The Master. (Kirk Cameron use to be an atheist). <<

Now for my comment. The thing is I cant talk to an atheist. Since they do not believe in God and we know that God created everything, so since the atheist does not believe in creation, the athiest does not exisist. :) since they were never created. :)

Well, it sounds reasonable, but Theistic Evolution has been examined and disproved by Christians who thought through the ramifications. I would have thought the idea was a good one, too, if I hadn't heard it doesn't work. Sigh.

A couple of thoughts:

- Scripture is like a loaded gun - you don't have to tell people it's dangerous, you just pull the trigger - I'm saying this as an example, not as a suggestion to get a gun. Use God's Word as appropriate, because God promises it will work:

So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; It shall not return to Me void, But it shall accomplish what I please, And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it. Isaiah 55:11

- people who argue against God usually don't have the background and logic to come to the conclusion God doesn't exist in the first place. Instead it's usually a smokescreen to cover an immoral lifestyle. 1 Tim. 1:9 talks about having a lack of a good conscience causing a lack of faith. So scientific facts aren't going to convince an atheist they're wrong about God.

I've talked to people like this, and when they see I do have some answers ("Maybe she can be trusted?") and that I care about them, I sometimes get a final question: "Can God forgive me, too?" Inside I jump up and down, because we finally got to the one important question. Pray like crazy as you tell them the Good News, because God causes people to be born again, not us. We just give the promises from Scripture, and let it do it's work: Jesus died for sinners so people can be forgiven.

Amen, to that.

I'd start with... As an Atheist you claim not to believe in miracles, but this is not true. For instance, you ultimately believe that this universe arose from nothing. Since something cannot arise from an absolute nothing, you therefore believe that a miracle was the first-cause of the universe's existence, and therefore our eventual existence. Even if you try to explain my assertion away with multiple-universe theory or some parallel you cannot avoid my assertion because, in the end, you have to start somewhere (thanks to Einstein) and that point of origin for you requires a miraculous something out of nothing theory. Should you embrace the miracle you propose, then you defeat the framework of your world-view that demands that their is no Supernatural.

I'd end with... The Gospel.

If you'd like, feel free to just copy and paste this in an email to him and let's see what he says.

the sower planted the seeds, and God caused them to grow.
If there is something you need to say to Michael, pray that the Lord will put the words in your mouth....... you don't even need to know what they will be.
and pray that he will soften his heart and hear you.

How on earth or in heaven above can a Christian dispute that the earth is constantly evolving as long as it rotates on its axis?????????????????If the definition of "evolve" is to develop by a process of evolution to a different adaptive state or condition, then what is the earth doing if not changing its state or condition?

I never said that human life is evolving. I said,

I was responding to the idea of mixing God's creation of the world with Evolution, that's all. They are mutually exclusive: if one is true the other can't be.

The idea that Evolution is undeniable is only in the mouths of Evolutionists and public school teachers. If you are a Creationist, the journals won't publish anything you write. I have friends who met all the criteria for PhDs in science and were denied their degree because it was found out they were Creationists (which had nothing to do with the research they did). The censorship is incredible, so it's hard to get all of the facts out there.

There is evidence for Microevolution but not Macroevolution: apes have always been apes, birds have always been birds, etc. There is basis for genetic drift resulting in new species, but there is no credible evidence for new genera, the next level up. Evolution is a hoax, and it's popular because it gives people an excuse for their immorality - they don't have to answer to God if there isn't one.

Kingdom - no evolution

Phyla - no evolution

Class - no evolution

Order - no evolution

Family - no evolution

Genus ( singular: genera) - no evolution

species (always lower case) - microevolution exists - nothing new genetically, just rearrangement of previously existing genes or mutation which is mauling or destruction of previously existing genes.
