see...religion is man trying to bond to God or show himself worthy of Gods presence...if you observe all religion that are not chrisitianity you notice this trend but the GOD of the bible seeks man beacuse of his love ...though we are sinful and turn away he pursues us even sent his son (probably herd this all before but listen..) JESUS CHRIST to die for the sins of the universe and all time...beacuse without the shedding of blood there is no remission of sins..SEE THAT god is seeking to help man, to claim those that are his, to give us a chance....that is why Christ is truth through the ministry and truth of jesus you see the stark difffrence of christianity and othe religions...by the way JESUS did not like the religious either so most of those that are religion bashers agree with the saviour of the world more than they know...dont beleive me, read about the pharisee's in the bible and what he though of them.....

Very true, Pryze. You nailed it - all religions are people reaching for something more, but Christianity is God reaching to people and offering relationship.
And almost all other "religions" are based on seasons; I guess because most people had to raise their own food.

Jesus wasn't upset at the Pharisees because they took the Law seriously . .
And we still have to be obedient. We still have rules to follow.

It's true. Religion versus relationship... It reminds of the scripture about how many would say I did this or I did that in your name, but He would say depart from me I knew you not... Sad, sad.
To me I guess the biggest cause of people having religion and not relationship is because relationship takes LOTS of effort, but you can fake religion.
Also this is true too from what I've seen. When people stop hearing from God, or can't seem to hear His voice. They substitute legalism, the following of all the rules for hearing the voice of God...

I don't follow rules because of my religion. I follow the Spirit and obey out of love, because He loved me first and shared His love with me even when I refused to acknowledge Him. After I was saved, I realized He had been with me the whole time, and that I had broken His heart time after time. But He never stopped loving me or pursuing me. With love like that, how do you not respond with love?

Jam 1:27 Pure and undefiled religion in the sight of our God and Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their distress, and to keep oneself unstained by the world.
That is the bible's definition of religion. It sounds pretty good to me.

I do agree, but what I am saying is, following the "rules" is more than just listening to the Spirit.
God's Word definitely has guidelines for us to simply be obedient to.

wow, i think the terminology is throwing some people of with the word religion that is why i put the definition there...one shows what we are trying, struggiling, or grudgingly are doing..and one definition shows what god is doing...my reason for posting was to show the stark diffrence between christianity and other religions....hope there are not any other confusions...
