I came across this article about parallel universes...essentially infinite realities. I beleive the article discussed how this started with the superstring theory. Whats your take on this?

It's more-or-less a mathematical construct - a byproduct of developing formulae that describe the rest of what we see. I'm willing to wait 50 years to see how the theories evolve.

How many years is that in a parallel universe, Dan?

BTW, I assume the link to the original article is also in a parallel universe. Could you verify this, jmjphe?

Alternatively, you could have asked for the link politely.

How many years would it be for a dog in a parallel universe?

If you don't believe in parallel universes, just say so.

I think this goes down in the record book for being the quickest and most hilarious "going off topic" of any thread. I personally don't think that Schrödinger's cat is any more simultaneously alive and dead with the box closed than it is with it open or made of glass. Multiple universes doesn't make sense and seems to me to be accepted more based on fascination than actual observable evidence. But then... I'm no physicist, and I know enough about quantum mechanics to know that things that don't make sense can be empiracly demonstrated to be true (like electrons traveling from point a to point b without crossing through the space between to get there). Just trying to address the OP.

I wonder... Is there a parallel universe where Dr Mark accepts a ~13.5 Billion year age for that universe?

Only in the same parallel universe where iluvatar accepts the historical narrative account of Genesis!

While I find the ideas fascinating, especially the descriptions given to the higher dimensions, I won't be able to put any trust in multiverse theory, or string theory, for that matter, until it's got a bit more evidence behind it.

Yeah, but only if you keep your posts above 500. And I'm not sure if the TOS allow postings in a parallel universe to count.

There is a parallel universe where I'm a 35-year-old plastic surgeon with no loans from med school.

Yeah, but how many posts do you have in said universe?

Why think small? Why not imagine being a billionaire playboy w/ your own island, a couple planes, a castle, standing army, etc? That's the parallel universe I want to be in.

It's not a very good database if it can't handle transactions from multiple universes. There should be some mechanism to synchronize shared data. We should ask Fritz how the server handles this.

In that universe I don't need any.
