Markav pauses for a few moments.... Markav says to himself: That sent is familiar, but it's been a long time.... How long, though? From where??? Markav slowly pushes himself up, ignoring the dull ache as best he can. Not exactly easy, though... He sees a middle-aged man, maybe slighly later than that, walk into the room. Odd... The man's face and scent are familiar.... Pipe and hat?? Where has he seen them before?? Mulcahy: Leuitenant?....son? How are you feeling? Markav thinks to hiimself: That voice is definitely familiar... Definitely.... Familiar.... Mulcahy: Leuitenant Greyfoot? Markav looks Mulcahy in the eyes and narrows his slighly... They he says: Rrrggghhh.... I know you from somewhere..... But, where was that?

Nemo enters sick bay to check up on his communications officer. Lt. Markav, some cross between a cat and human. Nemo chided himself for not fully knowing his entire crew. Yes he had memorized the personal files of his senior staff, but not his junior officers or the rest of the crew. That's what happens when you are assigned your staff and don't get to hand pick them. Oh well, just something else he had to live with. Markav was sitting up in his bed, beside him the chaplin, Mulcahy was it? Captain: Lt, Chaplin, I'm not interupting anything am I? Markav: No sir, the father just got here. Mulcahy: Yes, I saw the young Lt. injured in the hall, I was hoping there was something I could do to help him. Captain: Thank you for being on top of your duties. How are you feeling, Lt.? Markav: Fine sir. Captain: You did a very brave thing, crawling into that tube to retrieve those boxes. Markav: Thank you sir. Captain: So, you were stationed at listening post 163? Mulcahy: 163? Captain: Chaplin? Mulcahy: Forgive me Captain, it's just that I was stationed at that post. Markav: When? Mulcahy: When it was attacked, by the Romulans. Markav: I knew you looked familiar. Captain: I must say, there aren't too many survivors of that outpost still alive, to have two of them as part of my crew is a rare privilage. Markav: I'm not sure how it would be a privilage. Captain: I have two crew members who know how to survive and understand the importance of depending upon other people. Mulcahy: Yes, that is true. Markav: Yes, it is. Captain: Well, I would guess the two of you have a few things you can talk about, I'll let you alone. Nemo begins to walk away, then turns. Captain: Chaplin, if you wouldn't mind I would like to meet with you once we are underway. Mulcahy stands looking at Markav and doesn't answer the Captain. Markav motions to Mulcahy and he turns around. Mulcahy: Forgive me Captain, did you say something? Captain: Yes, I said if you wouldn't mind I would like to meet with you once we are underway. Mulcahy: I would be delighted to do so. Captain: Lt. I will check in on you tomorrow. Markav: Thank you, sir. As Nemo turns to exit sickbay Commander Shell enters and nearly bumps into him. Shell: I'm sorry, Captian. Captain: No need to appologize. I see you changed. Shell: Yes, my dress is completly ruined. Captain: I don't know, we may have a seamstress who might be able to repair it. Anyway I'm glad you are in uniform. Shell: Why? Captain: Once the Doctor clears you I want you to report to the bridge and take Alpha shift. I'll relieve you at oh six hundred for Beta shift. Shell: Can I ask a question? Captain: Yes. Shell: Just where am I supposed to sleep when I get off shift? Captain: Well, at Oh eight-thirty we have a meeting. Once that meeting is over you can take a cabin on deck nine. Shell: Deck nine!? And how long will I have to stay there? Captain: Our guest will make an official appearance just before our departure at fourteen hundred tomorrow. Till then I want him out of sight and you on duty as much as possible. Shell: Can I ask why? Captain: Because I'm the Captain, and we have to launch on time tomorrow, and I want one of the both of us on duty at all times till we are out of the solar system. Understood? Now, tomorrow in our meeting you'll get a fuller explination but until then get you wound looked at and report to duty, Commander. Shell: Yes, sir.

As soon as the Sick Bay door closes and the Captain is gone, Shell's obedient expression falls away and is replaced by extreme annoyance. Shell (under her breath): What does it take to get a little respect around here anyway? What does that man have against me? Father Mulcahy looks away from Lt. Markav for a moment. Mulcahy: Excuse me? Shell: It's none of your business. Lt. Markav: I heard what she said. Shell turns to Markav, her expression fierce. Shell: I know you saved the ship and all cat breath, but that doesn't give you an excuse to barge into my life. Forget whatever you heard, and I'll forget that you did THIS to me. She motions to the gash on her cheek. Mulcahy: You seem upset... Perhaps you need to talk later? Shell sits herself on a chair while Dr. RAM goes to work on fixing the gash on her face. Shell: Like counseling or something? Sorry Father, not interested. Mulcahy: It's not counseling. But you may find it helpful. Shell: You're gonna talk to me about God or something? Mulcahy: Something like that. Shell laughs bitterly. Shell: Been there, done that. The only higher power I answer to is the Captain. With RAM finished with her face, Shell slides off the chair and heads to the door. But before she leaves, she turns back to the Father. Shell: Don't bother me again, man-of-God. It would be best if you stayed clear of me. With that, she leaves.

Markav gets Father Mulcahy's attention... Markav: Hrrrgggggg.... And people think I get angry easily.... Mulcahy: She's probably seen a lot of hard things in her life... I know a lot of people who, when they get up in rank, build such high walls around them so that they can be "immune" to what goes on around them... Sad, that they feel that they need to work that way... Markav growls in a low voice, obviously making Father Malcahy feel very uneasy. RAM just stares at him... He says: Before she pretty much stomped out of the room, I was going to mention to her..... Concentrating a bit, he extends one claw on his right hand... Considering the fact that I tore that access vent to ribbons, she should be thankful that I didn't tear her face apart.... Contemplates things a little bit... And, I would have appologized, had I known that I had done anything... Relaxes and the claw retracts. Mulcahy: Son, don't hold it against her... She obviously is going through a lot of stress... She may not fully understand... Markav: She doesn't.... Seeing Mulcahy and RAM's questioning looks, he points to his ear... I didn't catch everything, but there's some things that the Captian is going to share with us later on that even she's in the dark about. Mulcahy and RAM look at him, obviously waiting to hear more. Markav just sits, stares back at both of them, first one, then the other, then back to the first....

Captain's Personal log Stardate 2070.11.12 1 am CGT (Central Galatic Time) The reception is still going strong, Delta and Gamma Shifts have taken over and have started several party games I'm not familiar with. Most of the Brass have departed, and most of the senior and jr. officers are resting up for our departure later today. The events of the night did not unfold the way I had planned. My friend was supposed to remain hidden until tomorrow, the ship wasn't supposed to catch fire, and my officers were supposed to get along. There are a lot of problems I'm going to have to take care of. The first seems to be the fire. The damage is repaired, but the preliminary reports sent to me by security point to some kind of tampering. My eight o'clock meeting with Commander Shell is now going to include Security Chief Ingersol. I was afraid something like this was going to happen, and a part of me is glad that it happened quickly, at least I know what to expect, but I want whoever is responsible caught, quickly. Another problem that will have to be delt with is Shell. My first officer is going to have to be reigned in, or I'll be tempted to shoot her out a torpedo tube. I already have seven greivences filed against her and we haven't even left space doc. There were dozen better qualified candidates for the position I would have choosen before her, and wish I had. Starfleet seems to think she has something to offer for this mission, even though I protested, they assigned her to me. I did get one concession. I do get to pick my second officer. We'll be picking her up in a week at StarBase 27. I haven't been on board a week and already I'm feeling alone. At least I have two friends on board that no one knows about. At least no one but Shell, and she only knows about one of them. Nemo out

While waiting for either the chaplain or RAM to answer him, a woman enters sickbay and starts to talk with him. Kanani: Lt. Markov, what happened? Are you alright? Markov: Rooorlll. I'm doing just fine. And you are? Kanani: My name is Kanani, the ship's hostess on Ten Forward. Pleasure to meet you. I've heard a lot about you and I am honored to meet you. Markov thinks: Finally a woman here who doesn't seem to have such a stinky attitude Markov: Thank you Kanani. As Kanani turns to leave, RAM follows her. Taking a deep breath through his noes, he realizes that the chaplain's sent is also very, very fain. After a quick look around to verify that he was gone, Markav sighs (sounding almost like a purr) and lays back down to rest. Though his burns are healing well, he's still sore and knows that he needs his rest... Rest... His instincts tell him that he will need it. Especially if there is a Romulan on board. Because of his excellent hearing (inspite of the loud explosions), he is very certain that he heard correctly. Even though there has been a tense peace since the Romulan sneak attack those years ago... His body unconsciously tenses as he thinks about it... Skrrrreeecchhh!! Markav quickly opens his eyes and realizes that he had been so tense that his claws had scratched that hard side of the bed where he lay... Aloud: Sorry about that... RAM, who had just stared at him just nodded and walked off. To himself: Boy, I really need to work on that.... Markav's thoughts drift back to that incident at listening station 163. That face... That scent... They were very familiar... Yes, that person had been there... But, which one?? So many died... So many were in different areas... While pondering this, Markav feels himself drift off into much needed rest.

Commander Lelandra Shell relaxes in the Captain's chair on the Bridge, leading the Alpha shift. She watches with slight amusement as other people on the bridge scurry about, trying to keep themselves busy and awake. She looks at her watch and idly considers how much more interesting this would be if, well, they were actually in space and not still docked in the space station. Ensign: Commander, incoming transmission from Commander Rawlings. Shell: The commander of the space station? Ensign: Yes. Shell: On screen. Commander Rawlings appears on screen, looking quite urgent. Shell: Commander, how can we help you? Rawlings: We have received a distress call from the USS Beacon. An unexplained fire ripped through the ship and they are stranded in space, with limited life support. At Warp 9, they are a day away. The USS Debit Card is the only battle-ready ship in the area that can answer the distress. Shell: You suspect trouble? Rawlings: I need to speak to Captain Nemo about this. Shell: Sir... The USS Debit Card isn't supposed to leave dock yet. There are still repairs to be completed, and we are conducting an investigation of our own... Rawlings: The ship's problems are not my concern. Please have Captain Nemo contact me immediately, on a secure channel. Shell: Yes sir. The screen goes blank. Shell doesn't waste a moment. Shell: Captain Nemo... Commander Rawlings needs you to contact him immediately... on a secure channel.

Father Mulcahy slips out unnoticed from sick-bay and returns to his cabin. Laying down on his Federation-issued cot, he begins to wonder.... 'Who here really cares if I can hear them or not? And what would I have to say in reply anyway? Maybe I'm just the 'token spiritual advisor,' as I was on Listening Post 163.....a big lot of good that did. Only a handful of survivors and more lost to my incompetence. And now, one of them just happens to be here! On this ship! Is this supposed to be funny, God? We should have all been wiped out. Then the dregs of a life wouldn't have to be painstakingly resurrected somewhere else....amongst those who don't understand what happened....can any of us ever live a REAL life after that? Can we even face each other?" He puts on his special headphones, closes his eyes and requests "Lullabys for the Space Traveler" from the ship's MuzaLink system. Soon he's asleep and dreams of.....nothing. There are no dreams. Dreams are for the living.

A beeping noise wakes Nemo from a deep sleep. Groggly he reaches over to his combadge and touches it. Captain: Nemo here. What did you say, Commander? Shell: Captain, Commander Rawlings needs to talk to you on a secure channel, now. Captain: Have communications open the channel from my quarters. Nemo out. What is it now Ralph? Over-reaction Ralph as he was known. A cold was a reason to have major surgery to him. The com beeped and Nemo sat at his desk in his quarters. Rawlings: Captain Nemo, Good. Captain: What do you need Ralph? Rawlings: You need to launch in the next 30- minutes and head to sector 003. We have an emergency distress call from the USS Beacon. They're adrift and on fire. Captain: Are you aware that we are still docked here? Rawlings: I've just had this conversation with your first officer. As I told her, you're the closest ship. Captain: Nonsense, the Charleston, Drake, and Intrepid are in that sector. They're conducting research in the Sigma Tau system. Rawlings: We can't get communcations through to the Drake or the Intrepid, and the Charleston was sent on an emergency rescue mission seven hours ago. Captain, this is serious. Captain: Get me Admiral Laired. Rawlings: Captain, there isn't time. Captain: Commander, and I use that rank only for the moment, I'm not taking this ship out of space dock before we're scheduled to leave until I hear from the Admiral. Once I've spoken to him, then I'll decide what to do. Now, go find him. Nemo out. Nemo sat in his chair and pondered what was going on. The Charleston out on a rescue mission, the Beacon on fire, a small fire on his own ship. Something is not right, and it looked like he was going to have to get to the bottom of it. Nemo's com beeped again. Captain: Nemo here. Laired: Adam, it's me. Captain: Admiral. The station commander is ordering us to leave twelve hours ahead of schedule on a rescue mission. We're not ready to leave space dock and you know it. Laired: I gave the order Adam. Captain: Admiral. Laired: Look Adam, I don't like it, but you're it. We've tried to raise the Intrepid and the Drake but they won't answer. You need to get out there and find out what is going on. Nemo sat and stared at the screen. Laried: Sorry Adam, but we don't have a choice. Have your ship ready to leave in 30 minutes. Laired out. The screen went blank and Nemo was left in the dim lights of his quarters. After a moment he stood and touched his com-badge once again. Captain: Attention all hands, this is the Captian. There has been a change in plans. We are disembarking in 30 minutes. All systems are to be fully operational in 15. All senior officers are to report to their duty stations immediately. Commander Shell, place us on Yellow alert. Shell: Captain? Captain: I'll be on the bridge in 5 minutes. Nemo out. It would take him two to get ready, and he needed to get three notes out before they left.

Sleep.... Peacefulness.... For once, just deams of home... Romping with his parents, laughing with his mom about the attemps of his dad trying to keep up with them... Going hunting.... Coming home on leave just befor going to Listening Post 163..... Shell: LT. Greyfoot! Markav growls to himself then touches his commlink on the table tray next to him: Yes? Shell: Because we are leaving under emergency conditions, you need to take your position on the bridge.... Now! Markav looks up and sees RAM shrug, then gestures to the door and walks off. While looking at the door, Markav notices that the ship is on yellow alert. Markav: Rrrrggghhh... Rrrgoger... Markav out. Getting up, Markav puts his shirt and boots back on. Stretching a little and yawning, he rubs his face... Suddenly, a thought occurs to him... The ship's chaplain had been a chaplain back at 163. But, didn't he die there? Markav to himself: Hmmmmm.... He smelled like a living person... I really need to talk with him about how he surived... Could be wrong... Thought I saw..... Markav pushes that thought aside... Markav thinks to himself: Good thing my quarters are not too far from my direct route to the bridge. Arriving in this messed up uniform would not be good, even under emergency conditions. Markav enters his billet and quickly starts changing his clothes. A shower would have to wait. A brief shudder runs through his body as he contemplates his mother's "style" of hygiene. Sometimes, Felonians reminded him too much of earth cats. Shaking his head, he turns to the door to leave... A blinking light catches his eye. A message? Markav sees that it's from his niece, Tiranna. Poor thing, parents' marriage doing down the tubes and she's caught in the middle of it. Shaking his head, it would have to wait. The door opens, and he starts walking out when he hears his personal comm chime. Purring (his way of sighing), he shakes his head and walks out. The door closes behind him. A few seconds later, the message count on his console goes up a count. Then, the icon for "very important" starts flashing... Name? Tiranna Greyfoot.....

Commander Lelandra Shell moves from the captain's chair to the first officer's chair and awaits his arrival. She smiles. She's been ready for excitement since she got on this ship, and she's glad she won't be wasting her time in any more meetings. She's been waiting for excitement and it's finally here! She watches as some of the "newbies" scurry around the bridge. There's that young Ensign kid - the one who is serving on the USS Debit Card as an intern. Ah, this is going to be fun. He nervously adjusts his uniform and scurries up to her like a little puppy. Ensign: Commander. Shell: Yes Ensign. She says it with just enough emphasis to sound like a derogatory term. He flinches. Ensign: Can you tell us what's going on? First there are rumors that someone is out to get us - that someone planted that fire on Deck 10. And now we're leaving early because of some type of emergency another ship is having? Are we even ready to leave early? Shell smiles. Shell: Well, MOST of us are ready. Don't worry Ensign. If some big bad guy comes onto the bridge, I'll throw you in front of me before he shoots. His eyes widen. Shell: Why don't you get back to your post? I don't remember giving you permission to leave. He snaps to attention. Ensign: Yes SIR!

Nemo strolls onto the bridge from the turbo lift. Ensign: Captain on Deck. Captian: As you were. Commander Shell, raise all stations. Shell: Raising all stations. She taps several buttons on her console. Captain: Engineering Report. Engineering: A young voice quivers slightly. WE're still running final inspections on all systems, Captain. Captain: Where's the Chief? Engineering: She's working on one of the plasma conductors, she has her hands full. Captain: Nemo smiles. Remind her she has ten minutes left before we start launch sequences. Shell: Do you want me to go down and assist? Captain: Engineering can handle it. Security. ROC: Security here, Captain. WE are doing inspections on the last of the hand weapons. All personel present and accounted for. Captain: Let me know when you've finished your inspection. Nemo out. WEapons. Lt: Phasers are fully operational and ready. Torpedos are all accounted for. We are fully loaded and we are almost finished inspecting all tubes. Captain: You have seven minutes. The turbo door opened allowing Counselor Troi and Markav onto the bridge. Captain: It's good to see the two of you up and about. Lt. take your station. Markav: Yes, sir. Captain: Counselor, how are you feeling? Troi: I'm fine now, thank you Captain. Captain: Communications. Markav: All systems checked and ready. Captain: Sick Bay. RAM: We have been fully operational for three days. Captain: thank you doctor. All hands, you have five mintues to have systems up and running, we launch in twenty. I know this wasn't planned, but one of our sisters ships is in need of our help. It will take twenty four hours for us to get there at top warp, which means we'll be pushing our engins and every aspect of this ship beyond the limit. WE will need to be on alert constantly. This is our first mission, and it's not going to be easy. YOu are going to have to depend upon crewmates you have never met and do not know, and they are going to have to depend upon you. I trust that with your starfleet training we will suceed in all that we do. Prepare for launch. Nemo out. Bridge, check in every two minutes with your stations and crews, keep on top of them. We won't be fully ready when we depart, so some repairs, inspections, tests, and preperations will have to be made on route. Let's get busy, we have a lot of work to do.

Li enters the bridge: Li [to Nemo]: Lt. Li reporting sir. I have inspect all launch systems. The fire damaged one of the major conduits to the warp drive. We're working on it, sir. Nemo: We launch in 15 minutes. How long will it take to fix? Li: I expect to have warp drive fully functional within 70 hours, sir. But all launch sytems are go. We can continue repairs on the way, and meanwhile I'll see if we can find a way to bypass the conduit to get to warp speed as soon as possible. Nemo: Yes, do so Li. We need to get to the USS Beacon as quickly as possible. Li: Understood.

While standing in the turbo lift, waiting to get to the bridge, it stops on a level and Counselor Troi gets on. Nods his acknowledgement of her presence, but his thoughts are else where. Markav thinks: Boy, this ship is getting more and more crazy. I'm on the ship for less than 48 hours and I find out that some of the systems are more than just a little messed up. Then, I come across that faulty relay that turns out to be a plasma fire. On top of that, get burned up a bit, meet someone from 163, someone that I thought was dead, and then, this! What else can go wrong?! Troi: Greyfoot? It's Lt. Greyfoot, right? Markva nods: Yeah... Sorry... I've had avery busy last couple of days... Troi: I can certainly understand that.... I as told that... The turbo lift doors open and both walk out, going to their separate ways. Counselor Troi to her station near the Captian and Commander, and Markav to his comm station. The Junior Ensign who was monitoring the systems steps back from the console, nearly jumpying out of his skin when he sees Markav's tooth grin. Markav shakes his head, sighs quietly, tail twitching impatiently, while he scans his console. He puts his earpiec, turned down quite a bit for his sensitive ear, when he hears the Captain ask for his status. Markav: Yes, Sir. Growls softly to himself as he finsihes his final check. After his tests are complete and he is decently satisfied with everything, he quickly punches in his code for checking his messages. Markav thinks: At least, as a communications person, I can check my own messages without getting into trouble. That can come in pret.... Markav's thoughts stop in mid-sentence when he sees a message from his niece, marked urgent. He just stares at it for a few seconds, as one person after another rattles off about what their status is. Realizing that it's almost his turn, he double checks his readouts. Markav: Sir, things still read in the green, though not quite ideal. Rrrrggghhh.. Working on it... Knowing that he has a few minutes before having to give another status report, Markav starts the recording.. Tiranna's soft voice: Uncle Markav, I don't know if you have gotten any of my messages. (sighs) I guess you're really busy. But... I just can't stand it any more! I'm coming to live with you... I should be at the space port soon. Don't ask me how... You don't want to know. (brief pause) I really wish I knew what you looked like. My daddy doesn't even know, I think... I was so young when I last saw you... Two, I think... I just remember you looked... ahh.... Funny... (giggles) Ooops! Gotta go! Recording ends... Markav just stares at the comm for several seconds... Then he hears security and weapons give their status.. Quickly, Markav glances at his panels. Markav: All systems are still ready..... Markav closes his eyes for several seconds, shaking his head.... Finally, he starts calling the enlisted personel under him, giving them instructions with what to do to get communications up to where they are supposed to be.

Captain: Engineering, what's your status? Brenda: Sorry Captain, just a small glitch in the Warp Drive. Captain: How small? Brenda: Nothing to worry about. Captain: Li just informed me it would be 70 hours before it would be up and running. Brenda: I told her not to make pre-mature assumptions. It will take an hour at most Captain. Captain: You have fifteen minutes to get it working or we don't launch. Communications, Get me Admiral Laired, now. Markav: Aye Sir. Markav taps several buttons, whispers into his mouth piece, then looks up at the Captian. Admiral Laired on screen, sir. Captain: Admiral have you dispatched any other ships to the Beacon? Laired: No. Why, may I ask? Captain: I've just been informed that we are having problems with our warp drive. We may not be ready to launch. You might want to start looking for another ship. Laired: Adam, get your ship out there, I don't care if your crew has to get out and row. You launch in fifteen. Laired out. Nemo sighs loudly. Not the way he wanted to start this command. He looks around and sees his crew looking at him. Captain: Get to work people, I want to be ready to launch in ten. Shell: The admiral said we launched in fifteen. Captain: Did I ask.

Ships Log, Stardate 2070.11.12 Captain Nemo reporting. We have five minutes before we launch, I've just been informed by engineering that our warp drive is now operable. I'm about to start launch preparations. Lets see how this new ship and crew do now that the action is real.

Shell can't suppress her grin. Launching in ten! FINALLY, some action. No more monotonous meetings, diplomatic talks, or boring get-to-know-yous. Now it's the real thing. She sits forward in her chair eagerly, ready for the Captain to give the word.

The tension on the bridge hung in the air like a heavy spring fog. Nemo checked the clock on the console, before Li even announced it, he knew. Li: Five minutes before scheduled launch. Captain: All departments report readiness status to Commander Shell. Shell, let me know when we're good to go. Quickly the bridge crew reported each sections readiness, within a minute, all departments had reported ready and awaiting final orders. Captain: Helm, clear all moorings. Li: Moorings cleared, sir. Captain: Engineering, ready stearing thrusters and impulse engines. Brenda: Thrusters and impulse engines fully operational and ready. Captain: Debit Card to Star Base, request permission to disembark. Star Base: Debit Card you are free and clear to disembark. Captain: Thank you Star Base, Debit Card out. Helm, manuvering thrusters forward one third. Li: Manuvering thrusters forward one third, aye sir. Captain: Advise when clear of docking port. Several moments passed before the next sound was heard. Li: Clear of docking port sir. Captain: Turn forty-seven degrees port. Li: Turning forty-seven degrees port, aye. Captain: Thrusters full, advise when clear of station. Li: Clear of station, sir. Captain: Engineering, prepare for impulse drive. Brenda: Ready Captain. Captain: Helm, impulse one third. Advise once we're clear of moon base seventeen. Li: One third impulse, aye. The transition from thrusters to impulse was virtually unnoticed by the crew. Once again only moments passed. Li: We are clear of moon base seventeen. Captain: Set course for sector 003. Warp one. Li: Course set for sector 003, warp one. Captain: Engage. The ship glided smoothly into warp drive as planets and stars begin to pass by in blurred streaks. Captain: Warp two, helm. Li: Warp two, aye. Still the ship glided gracefully through empty space. Captain: Engineering, report. Brenda: Engines are opperation perfectly Captain. Captain: Can we jump to warp five safely. Brenda: That will be no problem, Captain, but I wouldn't push it too much more for a couple of hours. Captain: Helm, go to warp five and hold for two hours. Li: Warp five, aye. Once again the ship shifted into higher warp with out a problem. Captain: Okay, crew, our first test has been passed. Shell, have all departments report in every thrity minutes for the first two hours. I'll be in my ready room, you have the bridge commander. Nemo walked confidently into his ready room, and the bridge crew grew tense.

Markav thinks: I wonder which is worse, trying to get this crazy thing to work, dealing with my niece who has had a difficult life, fighting Romulans, or... Captian Nemo's request interrupts Markav's thoughts. He makes the connection, then closes the channel once the Admiral is finished. He then sighes to himself, sounding more like a purr... Markav thinks: Boy... I wonder what I must have been on when I acepted this position, especially being commissioned as a communications officer.. What on earth was I think?!?! Markav's thoughts are, once again, interrupted by Captian's Nemo's request to start the launch proceedures, now that the Warp engines are on line. Markav talks with the space station's command room, putting the conversation on audio. Markav: This is USS Debit Card, request permission to leave star base. Command room: USS Debit Card, this is command. Permission granted. Disengage the docking arms and acess hatches. You may start impulse engines... Now. Markav and the Ensign pilot look at the Captain, though the Captain can't see Markav because he's behind him. Captian Nemo: Make is so. Command Room: USS Debit Card, reverse impulse one-third. Ensign: Roger command, engaging reverse impulse at one-third. Several long moments pass as the docking area starts to slowly get smaller and smaller. Markav starts to feel more and more excited. He briefly wonders as to which is more excited, the Captian or the Commander? Command Room: USS Debit, you are clear of the access doors. You are clear to launch. Captian Nemo: Roger Command. Captian Nemo out. Markav notices a bit of tension leave almost everyone on the bridge now that they are out. Or, was it just his tension, being that this was his first voyage? Hopefully, things will go just as smoothly. Yet, his instincts tell him that it's going to get really, really crazy. Maybe even insane. Captain Nemo gives the helmsman the directions. As Markav closes the communcation link, he notices an incoming priority communication. Markav: This is USS Debit Card, Communications Officer Lt. Greyfoot speaking... Voice: Ahhhh.. Lt. Markav Greyfoot? Markav: Yes, it is... Markav thinks he hears a child wimpering in the background... Could it be?

Captains personal log Star Date 2070.11.12 We've launched. We're traveling at warp 5 right now, new engines need to be broken in slowly, we'll jump to warp 7 in a couple of hours, then bump it up slowly over the next four or five hours. It'll take us about two days to get to the Beacon, but that's the best we can do without endangering everyone on board this ship. I can only hope they can hold out till we get there. I've left Shell in command, I'm going to have to talk to her later today. I'm still waiting for the reports on the fire and the investigation, hopefully they'll be sent to me with in the hour. And now I get to do all the fun stuff the commander of a ship gets to do, paperwork.

Nemo strolls back onto the bridge, It's o-eight hundered hours, time to make a few speed adjustments. Shell moves from the captains chair to the first officers chair. Good grief, she looks as fresh now as she did when I sent her to sick bay. Captain: Engineering, are the engines ready to get bumped up? Brenda: We're ready to go Captain. Captain: Helm, take us to warp seven. Hold us steady for half an hour then take us to warp seven point five and hold till further orders. Li: Warp seven, aye. Captain: Lt. Roc, Commander I need to see you in my ready room. Lt. Markav, you have the bridge.
