Hiya,

Wow, 60 degrees. In Hawaii that would be considered pretty chilly. It's been in the high 80's this week. How about I bury you in the sand while you are here and when you are done, jump on in. The water feels really GOOOOD after getting warmed up from the sand.

Oh and today's drink for everyone is some fresh squeezed OJ. Enjoy! How do you like those garlic/onion mac nuts?

Trishy

Oh - and another seasonal (spring) regional delicacy which some have enjoyed, but I haven't had in years is morel mushrooms. Grab a bucket or Wal-Mart shopping bag, trek out in the woods where it's marshy, when the temperature has been cool, there's been a recent rain and then the temperature spikes up to the 60s and happy hunting! Once they're cleaned and soaked in salt water, batter pan fried and served hot .... mmmm.

Okay, this is a great childhood memory of picking morel mushrooms behind our house. Dad would fry them up along with froglegs! I usually passed on the froglegs! LOL Now we just buy the mushrooms at the store.

Trishy, You have me so curious! You sure are a sweetie. I never did hear about Mother's day. How was it with your parents? I just learned an interesting principle: Patience is not granted, it is earned. Wow! Make you stop and think, doesn't it?

Have a great day in the Lord!

POG stands for Passion (Passion Fruit), Orange, and Guava. It's delish!

Lori, Mother's Day was quiet. My mom works at a bakery so she works pretty much from early morning till about 8:30 at night. So we just had a quiet dinner at home. I was surprized that my mom didn't go straight to bed and postpone the dinner for another day. How was your Mother's Day?

Patience is surely earned because it is a Fruit of the Spirit! I have learned that big time.

Good Morning, Trishy et. al!

I turned my a/c on this morning. Welcome to my world - 60 degrees at one end of the week - near 90 by the other. Living here, you get to see ALL of the weather - close together! :)

Have a good day today everyone!

((((((((((((((((MORNING EVERYONE!))))))))))))))

Wow pruned That's a huge difference in temperature. Can all that delicious strawberries take that? Perhaps the trees are just used to drastic changes in temperature. How is your day going by so far? How about your newsletter?

Hey Trish! How are you feeling today? We are just having some fun, drinking our POG and chillin. You know, I forgot to tell you that our senior pastor and his wife just went to Australia and New Zealand. I think they came back yesterday. It's their first time there and they got the trip for free as a gift from someone. I really want to go one day, especially to see one of your zoos! When is usually a good time to go? I'm from Hawaii so what you consider warm would probably be freezing for me

Trishy,
My MD was very nice, thanks for asking. I was getting over a bug that went through our family so I chose to go to late service so that I could get a few more winks.

I can't wait for the luau!
Clinging to the cross,
Lori

Ok I feel that I owe everyone a translation.

Kalua pig- Traditionally, a whole pig is roasted in an underground oven, shredded and salted. It has a nice smoky flavor. The quick and good way to make it is to stick it in a crockpot and add liquid smoke to it.

Lomi salmon- Like a relish- with smoked salmon, diced tomatoes, Maui onion, and salt. You have to use your hands to mix and "massage" the dish.

Poke (po-kay)- Usually a raw fish dish. Hawaiian style is tuna, seaweed, Hawaiian salt, maui onion, and a little kukui nut (chopped small). There are many variations. You can use any seafood you like really and it doesn't have to be raw.

Lau Lau- Usually pork, butterfish (you can use chicken instead of pork), a piece of fat from the pork (to prevent it from getting too dry), salt, wrapped with taro leaves and then wrapped in a tea leaf. You can't eat the tea leaf but the taro leaf is the best! It's like spinach but better!

Poi- Smashed taro. It's an acquired taste. Eaten as a starch or like a dessert by adding lots of sugar to it.

Haupia- Like a coconut custard. I don't like coconut so I don't know how it's made.

Musubi- A lightly salted rice ball with whatever you like inside of it. Like sushi but with no vinegar in it!

Ume- Pickled plum

Sashimi- raw fish, just sliced thin and eaten with soy sauce and wasabi (horseradish)

Teriyaki Chicken- You know what this is right?

Whew!

Trish, I'm just curious. What is Australian food like? Is it similar to English food?

I don't have a crock pot large enough to put a whole pig in. Guess I'll just have to come to the luau.

Re: weather - We grow hardy vegetation and animals around these parts. The humidity will equal the temperature many days. It's fine in the winter - warms things up - but in the summer - it can be miserable.

Re: my day - it ended horribly. One of our church members took his own life; his adult daughter arrived home from work and found him. She called us first. Other church members' health deteriorating fast; these are their last days. Not a happy end of day. Please pray for these families - esp. the daughter I mentioned.

Trishy, thanks for the explanation. I was just about to ask you what that all was.

Australia has a lot of the normal English foods, however you can get game like kangaroo, emu, crocodile on your menu. Personally I haven't tasted them, but some do. We get things like sushi here as well as a lot of other cultural foods. Australia is very multicultural. It sounds as though we don't have a lot of the foods that you have though. Either that, or we know them as other things.

ROFLOL! Now that's what I call a crock pot! I think a pork shoulder would do.

Yes, these are surely the end times. That is such sad news! Heavenly Father, oh how wicked the devil is. Come soon Jesus. I pray Lord that your mightly peace and understanding flow through pruned and her local congregation. Thank you Lord for your promise of healing. You said in your Word that when we are weak, we are strong. Bring them strength during this time of hurt Lord. Even so, come Lord Jesus come. You are exhalted above all. I pray for this man's daughter Lord that she stay focused on you. Grant her your overwhelming peace. I pray for those whose health is going downhill. May you will be done Lord through the people. We know that in the end Lord, we win. We look forward to that day Lord when you will deliver us and save us once and for all from the hands of sin. Thank you Lord. In Jesus' name I pray, AMEN

Morning Trish! How are you today? Praying that this day will be refreshing for you

Well, it's Thursday morning here. It's almost Friday. Woo Hoo! This weekend I have a 1-yr old birthday party to attend. A new health class is starting this weekend but unfortunately, it crosses the same time with the party. It's only an intro class and I guess I can find out more about later.

I will be fasting today. I have gotten off track on my healthy eating and it's time to fast and get back on the train. Oh how horrible gluttony is. I ate so much yesterday and not healthy. So... no talk about food today ok? Just for today But everyone else, please help yourselves to some smoothies and snacks today. Just don't eat it in front of me.

EDITED UPDATE: So far so good! You know, this is the first time I am fasting for longer than half a day. Please pray for me!

Thank you for the hugs and prayers.

Weird experience of this day: I called someone & got their answering machine. The voice on the machine was their daughter. She was killed in an auto accident in February. Maybe it was because of the incident yesterday, but I was just so unprepared for that. I could barely get through leaving the message.

Please Lord Jesus, come quickly!

The beach house is finally done with renovation and Trishy opens the back french doors, which overlooks the beautil ocean. She wants to make it a special day for her friends on the island. Before anyone arrives, she prepares some mango iced tea and sets in the refrigerator. It's a potblessing day today and everyone is welcome to bring in their favorite dish. The soft sunlight beams on in and a cool ocean breeze fills the house. She decides to relax on the hammock right outside the back doors, hoping that she doesn't fall off

Good morning Trish, Rach, Lori, Randy, Ms.O, pruned, everyone else that is reading this thread! As they say in Hawaii, "It's Aloha Friday. No work till Monday" Ok, the second part of it from a local song.

What does everyone's weekend look like? Oh and I can't forget to ask- ((((((((PRUNED))))))) How is everything? I guess you will find out more this Sunday huh.
