Ok right off you are going to notice that this will not be a so-called one stop thread because enough of this already goes on in many other threads. [sm=biggrin.gif]

Whether you are a new Christian or a longtime Christian, please share from your own experience and observations the things that bother you most about the Christian faith, attending church, denominations, and etc.

Some of you will have to really think about this while others will immediately have plenty to whine about. HeHe!

Hey! This should be a balance of seriousness and humor.

CoeurdeLeon_ -> RE: The Never-ending Christian Whiners Thread (10/4/2005 1:32:51 PM)

Yeah! I'm the first one to vote and so 100% of the opinions expressed so far are MINE!

In my old church they let one particular tone-deaf woman sing alot of solos just because she thought she sang beautifully and wanted to do it. [sm=shakinghead.gif] It wasn't pretty.

Eutychus -> RE: The Never-ending Christian Whiners Thread (10/4/2005 1:33:52 PM)

99 times out of 100, when I whine, the problem is usually with me. The other 1% is usually because I didn't have enough facts to make a rational judgment.

Didn't think anyone would admit that, huh?

crankius -> RE: The Never-ending Christian Whiners Thread (10/4/2005 1:36:04 PM)

I chose " They will let anyone sing specials..." because my church lets me do specials, and I sometimes wonder...

And I am often just the reverse...hardly ever have enough facts, and hardly ever make a rational judgment.

I FREEZE in the summer time but then we don't turn on our air unless it stays really hot all day (and night).

Other than that, I thought of something you didn't list, complainers! We've got a group who don't like how our pastor dresses, doesn't like his choice of sermon topics, etc.

Just a lookin' for something to complain about it seems!

Seems to me, if a church prays for their nominating committee, prays during the selection process and then lifts their pastor daily in prayer, God must have him there for a reason! Or is 'our' God too weak to bring us the man HE chose for us?

tyrubonchi -> RE: The Never-ending Christian Whiners Thread (10/4/2005 1:39:37 PM)

I think it is cool when someone who cannot sing well or play well is up in the worship team. It's nice to see because church and worship should be for God and not only for your own ears pleasure.

The thing that bugs me about church is (in my own experience and my parents) when people who are your friends become church members and ignore you and other non members. We just left a church because this happened. It made it seem like certain people in the church only befriended us so we would become members. Once they saw we werent gonna be, they acted like my husband and I did not exist. I hope I am wrong. Only God really knows! But besides that I try my hardest not to find anything wrong and not to judge cuz only God can do that. I think I am doing a pretty good job. [8|]

Yay! I get to play top that!! WE have people in OUR church (leaders!) who complain about other people's pantylines... [:)][&:][:'(][8D]

Simple solution for this one ... find a good church ... and join. When you do not enter into a mutual relationship with the local church (expressed in membership) you are basically treating yourself as an unbeliever. Do not be surprised if others follow your lead.

Yeah! When the real reasons to complain hits us in the face then it's like there are reasons coming out of the wood work dragging the devil along with them.

Walker311 -> RE: The Never-ending Christian Whiners Thread (10/4/2005 2:51:58 PM)

I have a good whiner!

Why couldn't God have created a kinder gentler lucifer? Of course we know that God knew that satan would try to steal the show so why didn't He just send Him to Salt Lake and fix it where he couldn't get out? [sm=aside.gif][sm=biggrin.gif]

filhodedeus -> RE: The Never-ending Christian Whiners Thread (10/4/2005 3:03:02 PM)

I felt like being rebellious so I picked "Don't click here".

There are many things that could be different, but hey God is sovereign and we have prayer.

Blessings.

i am the selfappointed church whiner...everyone else is much to Godlyto do that.[sm=angel.gif]
& excuse me but i think panty lines are a huge issue...well at least when they are associated with my rear...

10SNE1? -> RE: The Never-ending Christian Whiners Thread (10/4/2005 3:08:42 PM)

My church is getting ready to ask for big bucks toward a building campaign. Well, let me tell you, if they would just keep the men in suits away from that air conditioning control we would save enough in electricity costs to build the entire new addition!!!!!!

Walker311 -> RE: The Never-ending Christian Whiners Thread (10/4/2005 3:10:00 PM)

Ha! I've been going to a church to help temporarily with music and I'll have to say that it really hurts me (my ears) to hear tone deaf folks who are allowed to sing specials. I had a tear rolling down my face recently and it was not because I was moved with awe or compassion but with pain. It's 2 or 3 minutes of absolute agony! I know that they were making a joyful noise unto the Lord but couldn't they do this in shower instead? [sm=angelhalo.gif]

This does not make sense to me.

Are you saying that they had the right to treat us rudely because we did not sign a piece of paper stating we are members?? Or did I read it totally wrong? Please say I read that wrong.

Everyone that goes to a church has the right to be treated with respect whether they decide to become a member or not.

I never said that anyone has a right to be rude (remember, we don't treat unbelievers rudely ... or at least we should not). I said that entering into a 2-way covenant with the Local Church is part of the duty and responsiblity of the believer. This is accomplished in the form of membership where you align yourself with a local church and fulfill your role attending, serving, giving, praying for leaders, etc and they perform their role, guiding, teaching, etc. Unbelievers are not allowed to join the local church. So, when you refrain from joining you are treating yourself as an unbeliever. Now, this doesn't mean that they ought to be rude. But the bible clearly teaches that there is a greater love among the brethern.

dualaces123 -> RE: The Never-ending Christian Whiners Thread (10/4/2005 4:44:43 PM)

Believe me ... I am not excusing any rude behavior. But I do not have the opportunity to speak to that person. I get the opportunity to speak to you. So, I will encourage you in the direction that I think that you ought to move towards.

Walker311 -> RE: The Never-ending Christian Whiners Thread (10/4/2005 5:08:05 PM)

It seems to me that Christians can hurt others moreso than non-Christians mainly because we expect so much more from those who say that they love and follow Christ.

They want to have the appearance of being the epitome of what a Christian should be but some of them it seems are merely blowing smoke and they are often not too hard to spot. If you look hard enough you might even see some small horny protrusions on their scalps. You probably should avoid these types! [sm=aside.gif][sm=biggrin.gif][sm=angelhalo.gif]

This is probably entering into another topic…but clearly the Bible explains how BELIEVERS are already part of the Body…whether they sign onto a man’s document of membership or not.

Believers are to be treated as fellow sisters and brothers, regardless of membership roles. It is Christ who makes us brethren, in Him, not a private club of believers within a church building.

Absolutely! In my 46 years I don't think that I have ever seen a non-member mistreated because they did not join. They usually understand that they cannot vote on certain things if a vote is called during a church service.
