No, actually I got all (or most) of them cut. How could you tell?

My whine is that I had a good one an hour ago, and now that I found the thread I FORGOT it!!!

the former-toasted and melted marshmallows had turned to clear goop.

I do not like marshmallows ... now I have another reason why

I turned my oven on to cook the dishes I was bringing for the Thanksgiving feast and there was a loud buzzing sound. The heating element broke and there was smoke everywhere. Fortunately I am smart and keep a fire extinguisher handy. It's never been used, but I am prepared . Even more fortunately, I still have not had to use the fire extinguisher. Whew!

So what's the REAL whine? We were planning to make Chex Mix and didn't get a chance. (But I now have a new heating element!)

There's nothing wrong with this picture IF you live in Hawaii.

What's wrong with it? I'm not anywhere that could happen! White Christmases are overrated, as far as I'm concerned. Give me 80 degrees any day! Even Christmas!

The thing that annoys me about some churches that I've been to in the past is the way they do the tithes and offering, they go like this:

Pastor/Leader: Offering time
Congregation: Bleassing time
P/L: (after explaining why T & O is done) Those of you who want to give £100 or more, come up now and give. Once they have given
'Those of you who want to give at least £50 come up now and give. This continued until they got down to £5,
'Those of you who want to give £5 or more come now', as they get up to give.
'I don't know what the rest of you are waiting for because I'm not going below £5'. After those giving over £5 have finished.
'Ok the rest of you come up and give'.

On another occassion we went to my aunt's church (she was doing a baby dedication). At the time of T&O, the pastor asked all those who were giving their tithes to come to the front. Only one woman and a a small giry stood up (later found out they were the pastors wife and her daughter). The pastor then said 'Do you mean that this woman and this little girl are the only ones who are coming to give to God. All God asks for is 10% and only these two are ready to give'.
In the congragation there were probably about 20 people. If you take away those who were only at the church because of the baby dedication (who I imagine would be giving/had given their tithe to their church) and the pastors wife and daughter, the only peopel left were my aunty, her husband and 2 or 3 other people. Didnt this guy realise that people get paid at different times and so give their tithes at different. Also only a handful of people actually attended the church.

Finally another T&O related thing that annoys me is the misuse of 'God loves a cheerful giver.'

Pastor/Leader: 'God loves a cheerful giver...so what are you waiting for, give'.

Sounds like Pastor/Leader is unfamiliar with Matthew 6:2,

Therefore when thou doest thine alms, do not sound a trumpet before thee, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.

Or Matthew 6:4,

That thine alms may be in secret: and thy Father which seeth in secret himself shall reward thee openly.

WHINE...*cough cough!!*

My whole family got the flu. My husband was down for the count last Thurs. until Sunday. Then Sunday night, my daughter and I got sick and my son followed suit. Fevers up to 102 -103+ with chills, aching, coughing, stuffy head...but no Nyquil because that stuff is yuck. I got to stay home from work, but worked 5 times as hard at home to take care of my kids while barely functioning myself. DH had to go to school.....finals week. booooooo.

No whines from me today ... just prayers that Mari and her family get healthy quickly!!

(and cool has nothing to do with being witty ... you are cool just because you are a child of God )

Thanks Focusing!

We're better, but still got some remnants. My daughter was able to go to school yesterday, but today I got a call from the school's health office that she had a fever again so I had my husband go pick her up since I had to be at work. I'm thinking maybe she just needs to rest more. I hope she doesn't have a secondary infection like pneumonia.

My husband is in finals week....he's got 5 papers due for one class (Special Education course) next week and is stressing out.

The manager for our apartment is on our backs because our rental payment hasn't come through yet even though I mailed it out. It was mailed 3 days ago. It should have gone through already. Sometimes I feel like God allows things to happen back to back to people because He wants others to pray for them. I'm just feel really worn out right now.

Ok, so I got to do a solo in our Christmas program. And, during practice yesterday, I really tore things up and everyone said how much they enjoyed it. But the choir leader told me to "tone it down". So I did that today, and I honestly felt that it wasn't as good of a performance as I could have given.

Someone in the choir even commented that they were waiting for me to "tear it up". I agreed.
Honestly, I definitely prefer a singer who shows a lot of emotion, though it my not be the most "polished" - like Janis Joplin; to the pre-fab, over-produced, mass-produced, overly-professional, but in the end soulless music that we constantly hear on the radio - like Britney Spears.

Maybe it was pride, or maybe it was knowing that I could do better than that. Do they really need to take James Brown and turn him into Justin Timberlake?

I figure if you can "tear it up" then that is the way God made you. However, you want to sing again so you have to do as you are told so I suggest you only do the toned down stuff during practice and then tear it up during church because that is when the Holy Spirit sits in the pew.

______________

Well, I was a king during our Church Christmas program and glad it is over with. At least this year I was not the pink king like last year.

*cough, cough, hack!!*

WHINE!!

So, just when I get over the flu, I am yet again bombarded with another virus.....this time the cold-virus. When will it end?? When will my kid stop bringing home bugs from school?! I live in a viral melting pot, where all the germs of the world congregate....like a giant petri-dish. Someone get me a bubble to live in.

I've been whining a lot on here. Well, this is The Whiner's Thread

My voice decided to leave me today no thanks to the cold I have caught. I'll be leading worship tonight for our youth service.... I will have to croak my way through the songs. God will be glorified either way.

I am gonna whine because my children are not getting along. they have been trying to eat one another all week.

We did videos for my daddy and my #4 sat and cried he did not want to go then and wanted to wait and then he looked at the camera and said:
"I have been a total idiot all week and everyone has beat me up for it."
From the peanut gallery comes "Liar- JD hasn't beat you up."
and in the further background from JD- "YET."

We did a dinner video too... yes, the kids spilled THREE out of seven glasses of water on the table.

#2 child(16yo daughter) to mother- "why does #4 have too chose my chocolate crisis week to decide to be a total jerk?"
Mother to #2 child(16yo daughter)-"Maybe he is having a chocolate crisis week too..."
#2 child(16yo daughter)- "he is a HE mom... but you are right- can I get a chocolate bar and cram it violently down his throat?"
Mother to #2 child(16yo daughter)- "Ummm NO."

later the same night

#2 child(16yo daughter)- "#4 and #5 got on my last nerve mom... they were going to throw my Austen novels out in the yard... I rammed #5's head into the wall in the back room. it figures I'd run him into a seam... Don't worry though, #1 said she knows where the Merlot paint is. I am going to fix it right now."
Mother to #2 child(16yo daughter)- "Is #5 bleeding?"
#2 child(16yo daughter)- "No- there isn't even a red mark on his head." as she walks off to fix the seam in the back room.

later same night after me talking to #4 & #5 about backing off of #2

#4 child (12yo son)- "hey #2, I got everyone else a drink with dinner but you- I figured that you'd think I did it wrong or something."
{KID HAS DEATH WISH YOU THINK?}
#2 child(16yo daughter)- *sound of grinding teeth*
{SHE SITS DIRECTLY TO HIS LEFT}
mother of ornery children to #4 child(12yo son)- "You know... if that had been MY brother telling me that when I was 16 and he was 12 I would have let him have the elbow in the mouth then gone out and broke my own switch as he vomited all four of his permanent front teeth up on the dinner table."
#2 child(16yo daughter)- "What SHE said..."
*more grinding of teeth*
#4 child(12yo son)- "Would you like a glass of water #2?"

Now taking donations of chocolate for #2 child(16yo daughter)

Mari,

All of mine here
Jared's 15th birthday party HERE<-- that one gets a bit loud but you can get a glimpse into the family- it was made for my husband who is currently in Iraq.
What the girls do in their spare time HERE #2 is singing the solo at the beginning- it is Gaelic- #1 is the second one from left in the green scarf she is also the one that hits the high notes.
Other fun they get into HERE- they NORMALLY get along reasonably well. that is why this week has been such a WHINE!

Mine are usually REALLY good as far as teens go(#5 is usually the one that drives me insane with his Learning Disabilities and Developmental Delays). #2 is having a bad Chocolate Crisis Week. #4 is OBVIOUSLY looking to commit suicide by sister. Today has gone better. When #4 used the 1/4 cup bleach to clean the mess the cat made on the dark green carpet we threw all the boys OUT for about 3 hours then when they came in and #4 started his stuff again I told him that he was the winner of what we were going to call "A day of respite" meaning that his actions antagonizing his sister had earned him a day of being alone in his room with his book collection.

He pouted for a bit then embraced it. We did lunch and he came out of his room and asked if he could rejoin the activities... I said SURE on the condition that he not make #2 Growl.

He managed to do pretty good after that.

Am still spinning on a bleach induced Migraine though. I can still smell the stuff in my nose. It makes my head throb, my eyes tear, and I am grinding my teeth. His actions have caused me an entire day of consequences. I am hoping that it is gone when I wake up in the morning. Assuming I can sleep through the pain... I hate taking meds.

BAH- HUMBUG!

Wow, Ezri, your kids sound like mine! Especially the 16yo daughter. I have such a creature living at my house, too, and watching her relationship with her 14yo brother can be very interesting.

I am here to whine... again...

I went to a caroling party. it was fun- except for all of the couples... remarkably the ones that were obviously NOT getting along bothered me more than the ones that were. I sit there missing my honey and they can't manage to get along for the 2 hours we are at a party??? PUHLEESE!

The girls picked up on my mood. they wanted to stay so they took care of their momma- Lemme tell ya I sat down and only had to get up twice, The girls got me my chili and dessert and refilled my drink and chased their brothers and... Yeah they wanted to stay.

This is a belated whine, since I couldn't whine about it on that particular day it happened.

On Friday, December 26th, (around 6:45PM) the island of Oahu (the island I live on) of the State of Hawaii experienced an ISLAND-WIDE black-out.

Anyway, we were out of power for about 12 hours. I guess Pres. elect Obama et. al had quite a vacation here too.
