The evil--- well, this is their home- not ours.

Darryl,

it is not just mississippi... they found a 20 month old dead in a miserable manner not too far from me recently. Seems dad was in prison and the "mom" taking care of him got tired of him. I say mom because he was 20 months old and the article said he had a 2 yo sister so they had to be half siblings. remember- this world is not our home. (((hugs brother)))

Walker, that is just horrible. It makes me cry.

I worked in protective services for a brief time, and I cannot even begin to tell you the horrors of what people did to their children. Not a day went by where I didn't cry. A 6-month-old found dead, with several broken bones in various stages of healing, covered in roach bites, starved ... that was the day I quit, sick and heartbroken beyond words.

If ever you find a cure, Mari, let me know. I could use one.

I don't get online every day, so when I do, I have a lot of catching up to do. Tonight I read about Mari's birthday and it reminded me of when I turned 30, and I have a related whine.

When I turned 30, I had two children and had baby fever so bad! Dh and I were trying for that third one, and I thought that turning 30 wouldn't be so bad if I were only pregnant by the time my birthday came. Well, when it came, I had just found out I was pregnant. During that pregnancy, I had some complications and my doctor told me, "this better be it," so it was it. He was my last one. My whine is this: in 13 days, that baby will turn FOURTEEN!! Oh, for the days of little ones that actually thought Mommy knew what she was talking about!

WHINE! I wish I had the internet at home so I could check my myspace and facebook too. The library won't allow that here.

Darryl, it happens in Washington state -- a LOT. They keep finding these children here -- some not quite dead, some dead. It's not Mississippi, believe me.

Popsi, I hope your computer stuff gets fixed soon! It will!

I know this is happening to kids everywhere and sometimes worse than letting them starve to death but I cannot wrap my thoughts around the thought processes of the adult that would do such a thing.

Also, what makes me even more angry is the fact that there are often more than one grown-up who is aware of this or apathetic toward the situation.

I'm so sorry, Darryl. I can read that your heart is broken over this. Bless you. I love the man I can see in you.

Whine - stoopid air pollution again - I am so tired from 'working' to breathe - Where's a piano when I need to play out my frustrations? Dang - I don't even have the energy for that!

Asthma PJ? I have a reactive airway- it hates dairy products and I just happen to love cheese and ice cream. I had a sausage egg and cheese croissant for breakfast and I am hacking. I should take the cheese off but can't bring myself to do it. I punish myself eh? I have to be careful of get bronchitis in the season changes. If i skip out on the allergy meds I end up coughing my lungs up for a month or two. I have bee a good girl this year and so far the allergies have remained beat back.

My Whine- our church is doing thanksgiving services with our old church(remember the one that likes being OLD and doesn't want to grow?") I think that our current pastor either sought this situation out or had someone come knocking- they ARE without a pastor down that way you know. Anyway- The OLD church had never done Thanksgiving jointly with another church since 2004... even the time we were without a pastor before so I do kinda wonder--- Probably just a co-inky-dink right?

Yes, I am going to take the children and attend. Yes, I am going to be the sweet person I am. Yes, I am going to be asked a gazillion times how Jerry is doing in Iraq. Yes, at least one LOL(that's Lil Ol Lady) will ask if Jerry is working/where he is.

YES- I have a packet of Kleenexes in my purse.

It'd be nice if our choir was going to sing. I would be distracted by being in the choir loft.

Maybe I should make out cards to give out... With Jerry's contact info on it. It'd save me some trouble. yeah- the old church was like visiting the in laws. They all came to see HIM, I am just there to wash the dishes.

Least I can now say that attending church is a JOY, it doesn't feel like my penance to God any longer... though I am certain that when God looks out at his "sheep" he points at me and says "and there is little 'High Maintenance'- she is a lot of work, I have to call out for her a couple of times when I want to move to new pasture--- but I sure do love her."

Yeah, what he said.

Whine---

My Heat Pump is not pumping heat... just cold air. This is the 2nd day/3rd night of being cold when we go to bed. I call the heat guy tomorrow and hope and pray he can come out on Black friday and not charge me a fortune for making him miss out on going to the big sales with his wife.

WHINE! It's Black Friday and I'm at work. I will be working until 8:00 am. I don't shop Black Friday every year (and I won't be doing it any Black Friday anymore as long as I have this job), but I've enjoyed the times I've gone, when my dh and I can get up and go together really early and get in on some of the real deals. I don't like doing it without dh because I won't drive in that traffic. I'd have to come all the way home and then go out again if I went, and it would be nearly nine before I got to a store, and that's just not the same. All the same, I've got a little of that traffic to go through on my way home, though the only store I pass that might be having early deals is not a major chain, so it won't be too terrible.

I am not just whining this morning -- I am spitting-fire-mad! I got a call this morning from an interest-free credit card we have to pay medical, and they told me I was late with my payment, demanding payment immediately. I AM NOT LATE! I owed them $63 dollars, but I sent them $700. Their beef? I paid them early, so it doesn't count! Now, they want me to pay them again, and they want to charge me a late fee! And because it is interest-free, when payments are made in time, now, they have the right to switch me over and make me pay interest, which is somewhere between 18% and26%!

I am SO ANGRY I'M SPITTING FIRE!!!!!

No -- I am going over into the financial area to talk about this. I Could Just Scream! And they have my head over a barrel! They are their own law and they will neither listen or budge!

Popsi, I have had those before. they jaded the holiday for me from 1997 til 2005. I still get a nauseated feeling going to the mountains waiting for something BAD to happen. So far it hasn't... it gets easier every year. Hope you are okay.

A Belated Whine: I made candied yams (with marshmallows) for one of the dishes for Thanksgiving at my sister-in-law's house. The first thing I got in the car and sat down, hot butter spilled out from the casserole dish and all over upholstery and my clothes. Then because I'm rather ignorant about cooking, I didn't know that toasted marshmallows with time, turn back into clear gelatin if they are left in a warm environment (yams had aluminum foil over it). So when the time came to heat up the yams, the former-toasted and melted marshmallows had turned to clear goop.

The day after Thanksgiving I had to come in for work....just to wait on calls...and e-mail....which could have waited until Monday.

My whiner question for the day:

I got a haircut. I know I got a haircut. It's obvious I got one because my hair used to go down mid-back. Now it's chin length. So, why do people have to ask, "You got a haircut?" Of course, I have to nod, smile and say, "yes".

But what if I just said, "No. I didn't"?
