We don't have fire drills where I work. We can't. Someone has to be in the building manning the computers at all times. I don't know what we would do in a disaster such as a fire that made the building unsafe. I take it back--I do know what we'd do. We'd leave anyway, if possible. Nobody's alarm, which 99% of the time is false anyway, would be worth hanging around for if we really needed to get out. But we don't have any drills.

More like a confession. The more you try to guilt me, the more defensive I become.

I was fired from my last job because of my temper. And, obviously,. my parents immediately reminded me why i was so stressed out about making sure I actually got a raise at my job and could continue to pay the bills (even the credit cards I had run up), without their help. I think Kid Rock said it best, "Money, money money ain't (nothin') to me, but I go to make a lot , just to be free!"

At my first job review, I told that woman to her face that I felt like I had been "working my butt off for nothing", when she gave me a mere "satisfactory" and told me that I didn't get a raise.

I tried so hard to get another job and avoid moving back home (and the subsequent gnashing of teeth that followed). Though I admittedly reacted poorlyto the situation, I felt that no one was able to see things from my point-of-view. I mean, I wasn't the only one who was frustrated at that place. They put in a flat-panel tv (playing the Golf Channel in that department that sell golf attire), and i heard a co-worker say, "There goes my raise." Made me think that I was just the loudest to gripe.

Plus the fact that my dad is a Republican, which led to, "Oh, so we have the guts to send other people's children to die in a war based on lies (Iraq), but we should be total wimps when it comes to fighting the corporate power structure."

Seriously, the more lectures I received, the more I felt "in the right".

This lowfat granola is waaaaay too hard and crunchy. I have to wait extra time to eat it with my yogurt so the yogurt has time to soften it.

I'm hungry

This starts out as sort of a "brag"...but then ends up as a whine.

For my birthday, my husband took me out for a movie, "Quantum of Solace" (we had 2 free movie passes) and then he took me out to dinner at one of the most expensive steak restaurants in Hawaii....where I devoured a monster 11 ounce filet mignon...kiawe broiled, crisped brown on the outside and melt in your mouth tender/juicy in the inside. . But whilst eating my dinner, I had chugged too much ice cold water, and then after dinner I had chocolate drizzled ice cream. The chocolate "syrup" was made table-side...flam-bayed and spooned directly from the pan onto a large scoop of vanilla ice cream surrounded by fresh strawberries and mandarin orange slices.

I ended up with an upset stomach.

I turned 30 today....but that's not my whine.

My whine is that it doesn't really feel "special". Is it supposed to be? I hit another decade. But it feels the same as I felt since I was 26.... I actually felt like I turned 30 then....but still not special...just "older". I'm not saying 30 is OLD, because it's not.

So, I feel like I've been 30 for awhile.

I took all six of my children, plus my 13 month old neice out in public today- The girls performed at the senior center. Then we went out to lunch. Then to the Everything Scottish Store. I got lots of "WOW! Your kids are so well behaved!" comments. I thought that the near 100 folks at the senior center would cry over seeing so many well behaved children in one place at one time.

My mom and sister were with us at lunch, Mom has worked in Group homes for children in the past and my sister currently works in a group home. My mom looked at the boys as we left the restaurant and said "You'd better find a park and let them run off that steam before you go up the mountain." I laughed- We were getting in the van. "They will get in their seats and be quiet. I gott'um trained right mom." another tearful moment. The boys have done so well this trip. I am having a beaming happy momma moment.

May G-d continually feed you those moments of quietness, obedience, and motherly pride based on the right reasons for all the years to come. Especially while your sweetheart is away. Boy, do I understand! After my husband had died, things could have gone any direction. Thank G-d, my children were so good to me.

Oops!

Whine, whine, whine! ____________________ You fill in the blank. I can't think of a whine right now.

Whine, whine, whine...I came in tired tonight, and both my older girls were tired, too. Even when I don't say anything grumpy when I'm showing my tiredness, it effects them. So they snapped at one another...and now aren't speaking to one another or to me...looks like the 16 year old is packing to run away.

geez.

Somedays you win. Most days you lose. Today I lost.

My pastor is a wonderful man. He has a lot going on in his life right now. Not only did he lose a very close friend a few weeks ago, his FIL passed away on Saturday, his wife is in a third world country dealing with the details of her father's death (under the most horrendous circumstances ), her heart is aching something fierce for all she's dealing with, his heart is breaking because he can't be with her. And tonight just before service started, he got a call from his eldest daughter, who was on the way to church with her youngest siblings (2 and 3 years old) that she had been in a terrible accident. Two of our members went to help so the pastor could give a sermon ... incidentally about compassion.

So, what's my whine? Directly after the service one of the women who rarely ever attends services at our church started complaining that the pastor wouldn't give her the attention she felt she deserved.

Why does she want the pastor's attention? Because she needs to find somewhere to live. This is a woman who is perfectly capable of working, yet she chooses to mooch off people and then when she's told she's no longer welcome, she reciprocates by calling the police on them.

Never mind the family of eight that is losing their home because both parents were laid off from their jobs a couple months ago. And they have nowhere to go. But they're packing boxes this week. And working with the children's ministry. And leading the choir. And giving their all. And not once has a single member of that family complained.

Truthfully, I should be asking for prayer for them all (please do pray for them). But at the moment I am very annoyed and feel like whining. It's amazing that one person can be so unbelievably wrapped up in themselves that they forget that the world around them is experiencing far worse than they are.

Sometimes... I hate Mississippi and wish I could move far away. Some of the people here are dumber than dirt.

A 4 yr old little boy starved to death. He was living with his aunt and grandmother because his mother was a crackhead and human services took him and his siblings away from her.

It is believed they were attempting to starve him to death so they could collect on a 10000 ins. policy. They had it taped to the wall. The little boy weighed 19 lbs.

I just do not understand. You don't even treat dog this bad. They keep flashing his pic on tv... he was a cute kid.

Does anyone else get overwhelmed and annoyed your church's constant demand to "fix the world?????"

We just left a mega church that seemed to do this alot. I even heard one of their leaders say that if we did enough could feed everyone and they're be no more starving. Jesus told the deciples that the "poor would always be with us." Do they not read scripture?
