Chording is good but I agree with some of the other posts here. It does tend to be boring without the melody present - especially when it is simply "strummed" on the guitar .
I play a guitar. I have for over 30 years and I do both. My favorite is a mix of melody and chords. At least that way people recognize the song. I don't read music however except for the melody line. This makes life difficult sometimes but I generally get along.
Sing me a tune and I can pick it up and play it within a few minutes. Getting it in a key where you can sing it? That 's a bit of a challenge.

Loved the song bzirk!!!
I learned improvisation in 7th grade, I played the trumpet, and was a bit of a prodigy....in 7th grade I played in H.S. band, and if ever there was an improv, the solo was all mine!!
there are 3 things that make a song good..... chord structure, mode (melody line), and rhythm.
a good rhythm is the key to making a good song great.

WOW!!
This is EXACTLY what God has my husband doing right now! He JUST got through calling me to tell me that a woman named Grace may possibly be going "Home" in the next few minutes. (Pray that she responds to his praying with her.)
Isn't it interesting how God has all these agendas that we have no clue about... until!

wants to whine because usually jobs are looking for people with experience, but what about the people with no experience that would like an opportunity to gain experience?

This is more of a lament than a whine...
In our youth ministry, we have decided to go into in-depth study of the book of Romans with the youth. I'm sure the lot of you know what this means. TONS of meaty stuff. We're excited to get into it with the youth and just DIVE in DISSECT and DEVOUR.....but apparently more than half of these youth aren't even serious about it. Most are too busy passing notes, giggling, and whispering in each other's ear. The youth director had to repeat to them about 5 times (or more) to open up their Bibles to the book of Romans.
Maybe it's just my age (I may be getting old), but if I were a teen, I would be sooooooooo on my toes about studying Romans, especially because it speaks volumes about the fundamental principles of the Christian faith, and as teenagers, they've got so many questions, so many doubts about belief, faith and what not. I would think that studying Romans would help so much in answering those questions....yet most of them who have been going to Sunday School for most of their lives and have been raised in a Christian family don't have the ears to hear, or lack that intense hunger to know the truth even though we are more than willing to teach!!

Hah, the youth ministry at my church would be ready and willing to hear what you have to impart on the book. I'm very glad for that.
I really have nothing I can really whine about, save for maybe the inherent problems that come with ages younger than me and that I am working on understanding that not everyone has been through the same testimony as I had and hasn't been healed of things yet.

I am so very tired of people who don't understand the difference between tradition and TRUTH. Truth, as in the gospel. As in the necessities. Nothing wrong with tradition, as long as you understand that that's what it is.
Some sacred cows need to be made into hamburger meat.

Well it don't feel good being all stretched and pulled at the seams and all. I find I need to buy a small pack of Kleenex for my purse. What a cry baby I am becoming. The number of folks at church and in our homeschool support group hugging me and telling me they are praying for Jerry, Me, and the kids is overwhelming. A peaceful overwhelming if it makes sense.
The learning to sleep in a big bed alone and take care of all the household stuff is the painful part.

I just re-read my post and realized that some folks might not know what I am refering to...
my husband (Jerry) is in the Army and is being deployed to Iraq. We are in day 6 of his pre-deployment trip to Iraq. He has been gone since Sept 4 and should be home this weekend and then home for a week maybe two and then he is officially not home for a year.
