I didn't decorate at all last Christmas because I went out of town and the cat didn't care!! This year the daughters are coming home and bringing their dogs so I'm still not going to have a tree. Just table top/mantel decorations.

But where will i put the presents?????

Santa, just leave them at my house. I'll make sure Dinana gets them!

So Santa ... how are my kids faring in the naughty/nice department? I ask because this past week the number of grey hairs on top of my head have tripled!!!

Phosy ... do you know the muffin man?

I made an executive decision this year. We are NOT going to the huge family gathering. We are going to dh's dad's on the 21st, his mom's on the 24th, and we are supposed to be going to the giant dinner (all of his extended family) on the 27th. I am NOT making that trip three times in one week, and none of his family will let us crash there (unless we end up snowed in) The huge gathering is a turkey dinner with all the fixings, followed by a more than generous helping of indigestion as the family politics start happening.

My tree is decorated & sitting all prety under a plastic bag in the closet. Just need to take it out of the plastic bag & move out of the closet. I do have a beatiful new/old oranment to add to it this year thanks to Sharon-Marie. When she was going through her toys she found an old Mickey Mouse CHRISTmas oranment. I love Mickey so this oranment will get a nice place on the front of the tree.

That is what my mom does as well. She has a 3' tree all decorated, covered with a large garbage bag. All she has to do is get it out and plug it in.

I came home to find the table top fiber optic tree was up. I was told I was going to have to decorate the big tree. Sad to say it but i'm so glad Dad vetoed that idea.

So far on the nice list. Will be checking that list again soon.

You haven't quite grasped the concept of the Christmas Club, Joey. You deposit money with me for 12 months, and then you request to make a withdrawal.

Kerr you make me tired just thinking about all of those trees.

If it makes you feel more rested, only one of them had to be decorated. That is my favorite part, when Cindy puts our ornaments (no two are alike) on the tree and we talk about the story behind each one.

Mr. Cranky's Sermon, Abridged

His intro discussed Deut 6:4-12, and the various examples in Scripture when people forgot God’s Words and neglected to study or remember the law, or even lost the book of the law completely.

Then he applied it to us today, and gave us 8 consequences of not being immersed in God’s Word (but said there are more consequences—these are just the 8 he wanted to discuss). Here are the eight, minus all the Scriptures and excellent commentary :

1. If we forsake His Word, we are being disobedient to God.
2. Our love for God will wane.
3. We will be driven by every wind of doctrine.
4. We will be at risk of forgetting that it is God who gives us life and all blessings in this life.
5. We will not be able to consistently resist temptation.
6. We will not be ready to give a defense.
7. We will not be qualified to teach it to our kids.
8. We will not remain in peace, but will be subject to turmoil and anxiety. We will be at risk of buckling under in the face of life’s pressures and in the face of evil things going on in the world around us.

There ya go!

I can also give you the abridged version of my testimony.

WILD MOUNTAIN GIRL GETS A BIBLE.

I'd pay good money to hear those two speeches.

Eight points are a lot to remember, but the wild girl getting a bible would really stick in my memory.

Are we supposed to guess which is which?

I was envisioning Ann Margaret and Sophia Loren from Grumpier Old Men.

I wish I had a spot where I could leave my Christmas tree fully decorated and then just drag it out at the right time!!!

As I was decorating mine this weekend I was thinking the same thing!!!

We did this for about seven years after we got a great deal at the Fantasy of Trees. Most of the trees there are hundreds, even thousands, of dollars. But over in the section that the elementary schols contribute we got a beautifully decorated tree for $150.00, which is more than the tree itself would be at Walmart. Mrs. K used the ornaments (which were very clever, a Crayola theme) for her school tree, and we used our ornaments. The lights, beads, etc. stayed on the tree. The Fantasy of Trees people deliver it to your house and set it up - the plastic cover rolls up under the tree skirt, also included. At the end of the season, we just pulled up the plastic and rolled the tree into the garage.

We would still be using it if the cats had not been so enamored of sitting in it, and broke the branches.

Hey Kerr...thought you would like to know that the Yahoo.com homepage has a headline article on your favorited potted meat...SPAM!!!!

Thanks for the info. I would quibble with the description of "potted meat", which is what you eat on Ritz crackers with Vienna Sausages.

Spam is a a nice cut of meat containing Shoulder Pork and ham.

I saw on the news last night that SPAM is making a comeback. Their production has increased and it's hard for them to keep up with the demand. Made me wanna go out and buy a can. Fried SPAM sandwich. mmmmm.......mmmmmmm........gooooooood

I hope that this doesn't affect the fine quality of the product.

Kerr.....
Thought about you today when we were at BJ's. Three people was each buying a case of SPAM. They were sharing ideas on how many different ways they knew to fix SPAM. Seems like the SPAMburger was the most popular.

The local paper had an article about spam

Feeling generous? Give Spam (read more at the link)

quote:

When Lincoln Mayor Chris Beutler decided what product to donate to charity this holiday season, he thought of his favorite snack of his youth: fried Spam on buttered bread.

Now, the admitted Spam fan is challenging Lincoln residents to donate cans of the pink, gelatinous meat product to the Food Bank of Lincoln.

He pledges to match every can donated, up to 200 cans.

"I ate Spam almost every day for periods of time," Beutler said. "I ate it whenever I could get my mother to fix it for me."

All right, I believe I'll come out of this particular closet.

When I was younger, I remember liking spam. But I do remember that it needed to be fried well. And now I'm getting hungry for it again. Not sure why I've abandoned it.

Yep, hubby likes it sliced super thin and fried crisp, on a sandwich. I had a friend who would mash it up and make spam-salad for sandwiches.

Mom served us spam a lot. Maybe because we were a family of nine and it was inexpensive.

Hi Kerr! I found a good joke for you from the Reader's Digest magazine website:

Liar Liar

As a potential juror in an assault-and-battery case, I was sitting in a courtroom, answering questions from both sides. The assistant district attorney asked such questions as: Had I ever been mugged? Did I know the victim or the defendant?

The defense attorney took a different approach, however. "I see you are a teacher," he said. "What do you teach?"

"English and theater," I responded.

"Then I guess I better watch my grammar," the defense attorney quipped.

"No," I shot back. "You better watch your acting."

When the laughter in the courtroom died down, I was excused from the case.

Kerr...I'm sorry I don't have a Christmas kitty avatar to join with you and Melissa...I don't have any cats. Now if I could get my cocker spaniel to sit still I would dress her up and take her picture...only recent one I got was the other day while she was laying on my ottoman...she didn't have a santa hat or anything on though!
