Too early to give the final score on the Bush pardons -- that will have to wait until the day after he leaves office. So far, Bush has been much more circumspect than either Clinton or Reagan over who he pardons (and it's not often I hand Bush compliments like this either!). But there is some speculation that he will grant sweeping pardons to members of his administration for potential future prosecution for illegal acts committed during his term as president. That would be extremely controversial but I suspect that he won't do that, because Obama has probably told him that he even if he investigates them, he won't prosecute them. History will be the judge. He will pardon Rove/Cheney's fall guy Scooter Libby, but Jack Abramoff and his cronies, and good old Duke Cunningham and his buddies will continue to rot in jail. The border guards, yeah, they'll probably be set free too.
