They came out. She did it after her shower. THe backs are really hard to do. I tried to put them back on and couldn't do it. She's proudly wearing her dragonflies.

yay!
I am glad to hear they came out, I don't know why they make some of those earrings hard to get off with those weird backs...I don't like them either.

my next suggestion was going to be that you go to where she got them done, and ask to see a pair, and try to pull it off without it in someone's ear. Some are very tricky.

BUT

YAY!!!!! She got them off!!!

Yup. At first she made me put the new ones in but now she does that by herself. She keeps wanting to change them and I'm trying to get her to not change them twice a day for a while.

Kali won't put in or take out her own, and Kay has had her ears pierced for two years and won't even let us take them out. We got them out when she had surgery, but that was AFTER they gave her the "happy juice" Then we put them back in before she was fully awake.

It should never hurt to remove earrings! That's the first thing I want to say.

Second, a mild sea salt solution is all you need to clean and disinfect new piercings. (Feel free to soap them up in the shower as long as you rinse well.)

Third, please avoid piercing guns!!! They can't be autoclaved and they cause tissue damage and difficult healing. (The tissue damage isn't quite as bad if we're talking about lobes, but DEFINITELY don't use them for cartilage piercings.)

I think it only hurt because we were struggling so hard to get the backs off that we were twisting and pulling it against the hole. Those were stubborn backs: I can't even get them back on again.

No plans for any more piercings as long as she lives at home though.

Good. But just in case...take her to a professional piercer. It will be far less painful and way more sterile.

When I got my ears pierced, the backs were really hard to get off. I eventually just yanked really hard, and it HURT, but I was not a kid, so I handled it okay....
When I finally got them off, I still wanted to wear my keepers sometimes, because they were better metal and too expensive not to wear again! I pulled the backings on and off until they were easier, and now I can wear them whenever. It's helpful to have them on hand, because if your daughter has sensitive ears, she might find that the cheap earrings hurt her ears after a day or two of having them in.

She's had the cheap ones in for several days now and they are OK
