ORIGINAL: Grace-N-Mercy Oh, here's one I've posted before. I'll do this, then I HAVE to get back to work. You're in the grocery store, produce section. You spot a person who's trying to decide which one to pick. You walk up, put one in his hand and say "here, I think this is the one you want" then walk away. You'll leave the guy speechless. A little while later, you see the guy again with the produce in his basket. "Wise choice" you say with a wink, and you're off again. Soon, the guy is hunting you down 'cause he doesn't want you to get away. One of the two of you will say "we've got to stop meeting like this", exchange phone numbers, and enjoy a nice romantic dinner for two. Shuwcks!! How come this never happens to me? :(

I chose "The man, always" because it is the closest to what I believe is right; however, I don't think it is a hard fast "rule" that MUST always be followed, but as a principle that should generally be practiced. There are times where I do believe it would be unreasonable to expect a woman not to ask. For example, I have friends who are members of the local theater and have season tickets. When they are unable to attend a performance they will often give me their tickets. Often I will ask out women (as friends) because the of the circumstances. If a woman were in such a circumstance, is it reasonable for her to keep quiet about her circumstances and just hope that someone will happen to ask her out that evening, and that they will not have other plans for the evening? What I do have a hard time with is the idea that a woman must ask because the man is too insecure to step up to the plate, or because the woman is so aggressive that she cannot wait. Neither of these reflect the kind of character and values that I believe are important in a godly relationship.

This is exactly why I say women should communicate availability/openness. How is a guy supposed to know? Some people consider that to be the woman taking the lead.
