i was pulling out of the gas station today and a couple older men threw a cup of ice at my car , i have a " jesus saves" sticker on my window . they threw it at me and yelled " Religious [strong word]" i couldnt believe it what is this world coming to ?

lol i didnt make it such a big deal , lucky for them it wasnt my 71'Plymouth roadrunner i was driving . I dont think i would have been able to contain myself if it was

The person who did that obviously has some great pain from some religious experience. Most likely they've been hurt by those who claim and fail to bear the name of Christ honorably.
You should have offered to buy them more ice. : )

Seeing the user name has norcal in it, I would bet that it was motivated by the recent elections (especially Prop 8). There has been a considerable amount of violence, vandalism, etc... aimed at Christians (and Mormons) over the last few weeks, both leading up to the election and ever since.

Good eye - that didn't even cross my mind. All the more reason to show them love, within reason. If they respond, well, less than positively in spite of clear love, then that would be a "Shake the dust off your sandals as you leave" situation.

yeah i noticed something , if it would have happened before i got saved and got the holy spirit in me i probabley would have got out and did something i would regret , but for some reason i was extrememly patient with them . it was like i felt bad for them and now i kinda do :(

welcome to the war. It's called the culture war. we are the enemy right now. The key is to keep loving when you feel like smacking the opposition up side the head. :) People are angry with Christians after gay marriage was voted down in three states. that's just one example.
Secularists want a secular society with no traces of religion in the public square, including your bumper sticker.

often the groups such as those promoting "gay rights" exhibit more hatred and intolerance for Christians than anything else...it's the classic battle of darkness hating light.
I too believe it will increase severely in the days which we are facing now....Keep seeking God and allowing His light to shine through you.

Good for you that you let the Holy Spirit direct your reaction to the insult! It can be really hard to not go with our flesh response. Now I would suggest praying for those people. That's hard, too, isn't it? That's what they need, though. They no doubt have some religious baggage they are carrying around with them.

I have Christian emblems on my van. I never really look at my tires when I get in, but this particular day the Lord drew my attention to my back tire. Placed neatly behind it was a glass bottle...just waiting for me to back up. I'm assuming it was someone unhappy with Christians.
When I had a car with lots of bumper stickers I would once in awhile glance in my rear view mirror and find someone cussing a blue streak at me. I actually didn't put a McCain/Palin sticker on my car this election for fear of violence against me....Jesus said these days would come....and it will only get worse. Being a Christian, and acting like one, gets harder every day, but with the help of the Holy Spirit....we can do it.

Every 3 minutes, a Christian is being murdered somewhere in the world, simply for being a Christian, or for evangelising.
I think that getting a cup of ice thrown at your car somewhat pales into insignificance in light of that statistic.

KisstheSon and Buckifn are spot on. You're in a war that's cultural because it's spiritual. The good news is, the war has already been won (at the cross 2000 years ago) and we're just cleaning up the pockets of resistance. Your weapons are not carnal (of the flesh) but powerful from God - His love and forgiveness. It changed the world and is still changing the world. Your armor is described in Eph. 6:10 ff (and following). You are standing right next to the rest of us warriors, so fight the good fight, Christian!

I certainly empathize with how you must have felt. Truly.
However, why are you so surprised about what happened?
The Bible tells us that the world hates us and will persecute us.
We need to be spiritually, mentally and emotionally ready for that.

Oh, I'm sure no one is trying to compare the circumstances.
But we can clearly see hostility towards Christianity on the rise in America.
Maybe one day we'll get to that point.
Maybe it's what the Church needs . . . .

yeah what happened to me was nothing compared to what happens to Christian's in other countrys , I couldnt agree more

Wha-Hoo!! God's word says rejoice when you are persecuted Matt 5:11. Remember the people in Acts? They rejoiced, Acts 5:40. They were happy that they were considered worthy to be persecuted. In fact, I say a phrase that said, rejoice when you are persecuted and repent when you're not. So instead of being upset, rejoice that they found you worthy to persecute.
