Hopefully, I can explain the line, since I wrote it!

It's a phrase that has been used to describe a certain style of quartet singing for many years. In this case, I thought it applied to the trio, Mercy's Well, even though they aren't a quartet.

It merely means the group delivers the song with strong quality, while not overly embellishing the vocals or relying on an intense accompaniment to cover up their flaws.

And yes, it is a compliment.

Frog I echoe what David said. It is a compliment and means the group can walk out their throw their heads back and put down some sounds with a lot of, or any, out side help. As an example I believe the Dixie Echoes can flat footed sing.

I know this may be off the beaten path and it just may be my weird sense of humor:

Has anyone looked on page 71 on the singing news (its an advertisement page for a new billy graham type cd) There's a picture of pat boone sitting in a chair...does anyone else think he looks like benny hinn in this photograph? Everytime i flip past the page it catches my eye and i can't help but chuckle
