Y'all, I don't normally do this, and I hope it's within TOS that I do it now.

But, so far, Deb has made 3 posts; 2 of them here and the other one (made after the first two) is in the Introductions folder and is titled "Oh Well". I've been trying to make a link, but I keep getting the runtime error message.

For anyone who feels so led, please go over to that folder and welcome her.

I attribute this entirely to my participation in the thread.

You did a fine job mediating for many kerrlaw, but I will have to give credit where it is due for bringing me to MY "hakuna matada" moment and that is here.

Thank you elastic.

Uhm, just wondering
How would such a name as "Possum Grape" come to be
Wouldn't that be somewhat like naming a county Rodent Strawberry?

Actually, I found out that it is a term for muscadines......never heard of it, but anyway. Someone apparently loved that fruit enough to name a town after it......LOL

Folks if anyone is confused about the last few post they seem out of order because I deleted my post they are in response to. In turn a couple of post that quoted mine have been deleted. Let me assure you my post was meant as a joke and only a joke. I truly did not mean to offend anyone. If any of you were offended by the post I sincerely apologize.

Muscadine sounds better than POSSUM GRAPE! I used to pick muscadine berries growing wild on the side of the road when I was a little girl in Georgia. They grow well in dry sandier areas and around Fort Benning, GA, it is definitely THAT.
It's difficult to find them growing wild now, but I can get the taste in jelly form on my silver dollar biscuits at the Beacon Lighthouse near my duck hole. Mmmm-mm good, as long as it's not called possum grape jelly.

I'm hungry. Biscuits & jelly.... Yes, that's the ticket!

Due to the sensitivity of the issue, I ended the poll & it is clear that the majority of the voters feel that a woman should dress the way she pleases and is in no way to be blamed for the actions of another if she is assaulted.

May we move on to other threads now..... Like uh maybe... "Is Eating Too Many Biscuits & Jelly Immoral or Unethical? What is too many? Can ducks be exempt?

That may be of the people who actually voted, but there were several posters who indicated they would not be voting in the poll because none of the options is what they would choose to vote for. For the record, I am one of those people who didn't vote in the poll.

Duck, I'm guessing that you are wanting this topic to end . . . however, as has been pointed out, no one can close a thread except for a mod (and no, that's not what I thought you meant by what I've quoted).

However, you do need to be prepared that new people will occasionally wander in here to give their opinion of the OP and the poll (even though it's closed) . . . and that will be their right to do so.

Once a thread has been given life, anyone can post their thoughts in response to the OP at any time.

To the OP:

I would say both are to blame... but the person who rapes another is seriously at greater fault.

Though, you have to keep them as you catch them... as they say. The person who dresses provacative should not be surprised when he or she gets a stinky fish on the end of his or her hook.

Yes, I feel like I have thrown a match out the window without thinking & set a forest fire that is consuming innocent people.

and what is their criteria, if not reckless words (mine) that have pierced hearts like a sword?

You'll have to ask a moderator what the criteria for closing a thread is . . . however, I do know that it has to be pretty serious (and not just controversial).

Don't worry this is such a sensitive topic if you let it run long enough it will eventually self destruct and be closed.

Today I got to play judge, which is much better. You actually have the power to order something.

Sam, zam, and phosy will be pleased to know that I put some people in jail.

And they'll spend the rest of their lives proclaiming their innocense and telling folks how they were framed.

Sort of a side note here: I conducted a presentence investigation on a man who molested his girlfriends 16 year old mentally handicapped daughter. Throughout the investigation the man proclaimed his innocense, said that he was simply helping the girl dry herself off after a shower, help her with feminine hygiene and tuck her into bed. My recommendation to the court was for the maximum sentence allowed. The court imposed the max. I got up to leave the prosecutors table and this man looked at me and said, "How could you do this to me?"

I walked out of the courtroom and about puked. He will spend his entire prison sentence blaming me for sending him there. My only hope is that he does finally see how his actions got him there.
