But, you didn't say whether or not you actually read the link that I gave to you. Did you know that I read EVERY link that anyone gives to me, no matter what the perspective. There is a name for that... called "willing to learn". Unfortunately, while those who have a leftist perspective TALK about being willing to learn, years of experience has taught me that few actually follow up on links that they think might challenge their particular view of the world.
Surely you are different. Let's try again. Here is the link, one more time. I actually think you might find it interesting.

Look back into our history and you will find that we are not where we are by accident. Socialism has been a goal by the elites since the early 1900's and I can prove it. Actually, we came very, very close to having a government patterned after the Soviet model in the 1930's. Roosevelt's New Deal and WWII probably saved us from that particular threat. But, Communists groups under the direct control of Stalin were rampant in the 1930's. In fact, there were several hearings in the 1930's that found the EXACT thing that McCarthy claimed after WWII. It's been a long time coming. And, now it's at our door.
But, as I said, it will not affect me NEARLY as much as it's going to affect YOU. I urge you to learn all you can about McCarthy and the duplicity of the government, the press and the writers in allowing people to remain in positions of power that ended up facilitating Pearl Harbor and even the fall of China to Mao. I'm sure that this is completely ridiculous to you; but, only because you have not explored it deeply enough. But, it DIRECTLY affects your own future as THIS government under George Bush and Obama robs you of your future.
If you don't heed my warnings now, at least you can look back when you are my age and remember that a complete stranger cared enough about you to warn you.
** We've had more than our fair share of politicians rightly grace the halls of prison.

Amen, TMeeks! A lot of the truth has been whitewashed out of what is taught in schools today. Those of us who have a fair number of years under our belts and have witnessed history in the making, or who have read un-revised histories can speak to the true results of socialism and communism. Today's schools don't teach that the elites in power have special privileges, etc. and don't live by the same rules as the masses. It isn't a paradise where everyone is happy and living in idyllic cottages with plenty of everything. Because the socialistic state destroys individual incentives, there is generally increasing poverty. It wasn't socialism that made the United States the dynamic, rich nation it is now (at least for a time).

Ok, sci-fi buff here and I have to say that's one point I don't quite get. If we're talking the original Body Snatchers, there very much was a malevolent takeover in process in the film, and the wild-eyed man sounding the alarm was right and saved the world by doing so. So if it's a parable on McCarthyism, it says to me listen to the man - it just might save your hide from conquest.

However, I think todd_t meant that those who believed McCarthy were the mind-numbed zombies and Tydings was the alert good guy... exactly the opposite of the truth.
