I really didn't want this thread to be an argument about the health or not of pregancy...and I don't put people with a lot of children on a pedestal either (many 'round here can assure you of that)... I just thought it was an interesting human interest story....and I thought the fact that they were Romanian immigrants made it more interesting...plus I enjoyed the little joke I made in my OP...and frankly, I thought it was important that people realize the Duggars aren't the only large family out there(even, though, yeah, out of the last 3 threads on CW about them, I started 2)..there are others...and they each have their own ways of doing things. As for the woman looking older than 44 1)If she grew up in Romania, I doubt she had an easy life..worries and cares of life can affect a person's appearance. 2)She is obviously of a denomination that doesn't go for fancy hairstyles and makeup and that does go for headcoverings..so ya, she's gonna look a little more plain than those of us who spend a lot of money on highlighting and apply our mascara in 3 coats, lol(I just said those two things 'cause I do them....it's my attempt to laugh at myself). But that doesn't mean there is anything wrong with the look she has chosen. 3)I have seen women in their 20's that don't look too great 3 days after having a baby..even some women that are normally gorgeous...the month after childbirth is just a season to look tired, lol.

Mmmm, yes, some women could sail through 20 pregnancies and be no worse the wear, some women could face severe consequences from only 1 pregnancy. You can never tell. LOL, pregnancy may not be an illness, but it can make you sick as dog! My old boss was one of 18 children, and the only thing I heard him say about his mom was that she was very tired by the time the youngest came along, and that his youngest brother was extremely spoiled because the mom had no energy or will to discipline. But that's just what he told me. His family was interesting though, the 18 kids came in batches of six (not sextuplets, just 6 kids very close together) then a break of a few years, then another batch, so the kids kinda formed their own little "tribes" of six kids each. My boss was in the oldest tribe.

I didn't say there was. I do think it's interesting that people get on Michelle Duggar for having her older kids help with the younger ones (saying she isn't taking care of her own kids so of course it's easy) when really, sending your kids to PS all day long is ALSO turning them over to someone else to take care of.

sending your kids to PS all day long We don't know if they are in a public school or a private school. Actually from what I've seen a good school parent still has to invest a lot in their child's education.

As happens in the Duggar household as well, I am sure. My point is simply that people react to things as WRONG when really they are just DIFFERENT. This family is supposedly more 'normal' even though they have the same number of children because they don't homeschool. They still wear skirts, and this mom actually covers her head, but they aren't seen as quite as 'weird' as the Duggars.

I didn't think this family was more normal because they went to school. I just thought they seemed more real in their demeanor.

Right, but at a school, the teachers chose to be teachers. The older Duggar kids weren't really given a choice. I think kids SHOULD all pitch in to a household..I just sometimes wonder if the Duggar girls have to do it to a point to where their academics suffer. I don't worry about that with school teachers (ok, considering some of the horror stories, maybe I should, lol)..but seriously, hopefully a teacher is a college graduate already done with their education.

Exactly, and not every family is called to HS, so sending their kids to a good school isn't quite the same thing as handing a baby over to a 12 year old so the pre-teen can take care of all the baby's needs.
