I just read the bios and most of the part about Josh was about him. There were only a couple sentences about his dad. He also does have a couple good jobs it looks like so he is financially stable: quote:
Josh became interested in politics and now does part-time consulting for elected officials and political candidates with a small company he founded in Arkansas in 2006, Strategic Political Services. quote:
Josh started a pre-owned wholesale car dealership in Northwest Arkansas, Champion Motorcars. He now manages the dealership full time with his brother John. He also pursues other various entrepreneurial adventures as time allows

I guess it depends on how you count them. I only see 3 sentences particular about his parents (politics, book, real estate) and a few more about the family in general which would include Josh. They seemed to cover his career, education, and salvation. However, I think some facts about the parents are important because it helps you know their background a little. Anna's is more slanted towards her parents.

Not many teenagers who can start up their own car dealership (if he and John did it alone, that its). And while I'm impressed by his ambition, I have to wonder, who in the world pays a 20 year old consultant to help them with their political career? I believe that the company is real, I'm just wondering how they got a customer base started. Well, as far as wedding stories go, I'm far more interested in the personal pursuits of the bride and groom, then what TV shows their families are in, 'cause that's more the parents doing anyways.

My brother and I were PS'ed, and I was earning money in high school, my brother was in middle school when he started earning an income. I was surprised that such a young man would get paid to consult on political careers, and I was surprised that he would own and operate a car dealership so young, but I was not surprised that he had some sort of income. Most teenagers, homeschooled or not, usually don't have the means to start up a car dealership, nor do most teenagers have a dad who ran for political office.

I was a caddy at a country club....they had an established, organized caddy program. It wasn't just some job at a business for a friend or family member....or anyone else we knew (which is common for someone who is working that young).... but, today...i wouldn't even THINK of having my kids do that sort of thing at 12 years old....

At 12 I was babysitting 45 hours/week during the summer, sewing dayglo orange vests for the security & parking team at the festival organization I worked for, and working security and parking for them during festivals. I think I also had a yard-care job that summer...or that might have been when I was 11.

I am a little offended by the homeschooled remark. I worked on a campain when I was 17, and I was working from the time I was 9 or 10. I had a newspaper route. And as I got older I got more responsibility. I think it comes from your environment, and not if you are homeschooled or Public schooled. My family was poor. If we wanted things, I had to work. Simple.

I wasn't homeschooled, either, Reach, and I was working from a young age. But TODAY the trend is that PS kids don't work. That isn't a slur...it's identifying a trend.

There's no way a 20 yo can get where he is without considerable help. That doesn't mean that he didn't work hard; I'm pretty sure he has. But there are definitely networks that he has been able to tap into, and likely a lot of money in the family for quite a while.

Thanks, Sarah...I was wondering when the topic would get back to the upcoming wedding/marriage. It seemed to have drifted off into politics and teenagers working.

Sorry, the country club thing made me giggle...I've never set foot on one. yeah...just think Chevy Chase and Rodney Dangerfield... It was a very affluent club... and, yet, we lived in a very "lower middle class" neighborhood in Detroit. Really opened my eyes to "the world"....especially to the fact that very wealthy people are actually "just people"....most work hard, just like everyone else.... and, that certainly isn't what I was "taught" back in the "old neighborhood".....it was wealthy=greed=evil....and all of that liberal class warfare garbage.... walking 8 miles a day with a guy's golf bag over your shoulder (while performing all of your "caddy duties") really was a hard job.... quote:
I wouldn't MAKE a 12 yo work today...but why wouldn't you LET them? Especially since you did. I didn't say I wouldn't LET them....but, when I was 12.....in the situation I was in, and with the income my parents made, I didn't have much of a choice. TODAY.....yes, IF they WANTED to....on their own initiative, then, I would probably consider it....
