Aww, how sweet. They seem like such nice kids. I thought those two were on the latest TV special, and they want lots and lots of kids too... On the registry... Keep in mind that this website is meant for their family and friends who intend to attend the wedding (not the rest of the internet community hehe), and it's really common these days to put your registry online so people can look it over, discuss it with their spouse, and decide what you want to get before going to the store (or you can order it online and delivery it directly, instead of going to the store at all). It's also great for making plans to chip in with other friends/relatives for more expensive items. It's very common these days. Maybe it's just that I'm a techie geek, but most of my friends getting married these days do the online wedding site thing (you can put so much info on there that you can't fit on the invite), and most of them do online registries, which I personally like...

Let me guess...they met at a homeschool conference? (Surely not an arranged marriage...)

Well, she's from Florida, so it would have to be some sort of conference. I wonder how large her family is, they said she's from a large family, too. Well, best of luck to the young 'uns!

Josh already has a house! Good for him. :) That's going to be a great help to a new marriage.

I wonder if Dad got it for him. He is in real estate.

I'm sure he probably helped him find it and all, but from what I remember of the Gothard people that were in our homeschool group growing up, they were big on financial independence. Most of the young men were expected to own a house before married, plus have money in the bank. The parents might help with direction, but they didn't usually just hand over the money for it.

I'd assume that the house is on the parents' property (but I could be wrong), and as long as the older parents respect the autonomy of the new couple, then I see no problem with it.

*You can RSVP if you've received an invitation to the wedding or reception, but any of you Tom, Dick or Harry's can feel free to send us a gift!* Again, online registries are for the convenience of the *guests*. They are very common these days, and I think they're much better than having to spend 2 hours at the store poring over the list. I have several friends that have used them. Could someone have conceivably tripped over their wedding site and seen their gift registries? Well, sure, but since they're not "famous" people it's less likely. Wedding sites are designed to give guests additional information that doesn't fit in the invitation. The Duggars no more expect you, not a guest, to use the online registry, than they would expect you, not a guest, to make reservations at the hotels they're suggesting (also for the convenience of the guests). Frankly if you're going to start splitting hairs as far as what's proper etiquette, it's probably far more rude for us to be invading the website of a wedding we're not invited to than for them to have put their registry online for their guests' convenience.

As far as the registries..some people think those silly little things like candy, etc...were put there so the little boys could still buy them something.. It's interesting to see how this thread flowed....I purposely left off any further comments of my own just to see which direction the thread would take.. It's interesting most people thought about matching shirts or the newlyweds getting their privacy. My first thought was (keep in mind Anna has 7 siblings), that I hope that even with so many siblings between them, they still find a way to include everyone (besides of course maybe Jennifer, and possibly not Johannah) in the wedding party. I'd hate for anyone to feel left out. If you go to the Duggars website, you can email them..so I emailed them with ideas, if they were interested, on ways to include everyone. Here is the e-mail: Congratulations to Josh and Anna on their engagement and wedding. I hope the wedding goes well. I notice that Josh and Anna both have many siblings, and while, of course, what they do is their business, I thought there may have been some concern as how to include all the siblings in the wedding (if that was their desire)..so I just wanted to share some things I've seen children do besides just being ring bearer flower girl (and I have seen weddings with lots of flower girls).. ring bells(it would be easy to have all boys not doing anything else do this) carry a bible carry bride's train roll out carpet light candles (has to be somewhat older kid to do this) pass out favors pass out programs I hope these ideas are helpful, and if they already had other things figured out, no problem, just my 2 cents. I hope they have a blessed day, and that God is honored in all that is done. Blessings, Rebekah

I think it is sweet and wonderful that they are getting married. If he has a house of his parents land well good for them. That only means there is tons of help not far away when they set up housekeeping and when they start a family.

I like how most of the bios on them are more about their fathers than them. Not to mention hardly anything about their mothers.

Well, remember in their world, the mothers bear and raise children and support the hubby's work, so what would there be to say about the mothers? I was kinda hoping to hear more about they met.
