YAY! This one has been revived! Broken, the first time you kill a thread...don't take it personally. We've all done it.

Flyboy, I love the penquins! They are cool! And I miss Red Green. We watched him on the New Hampshire PBS when we lived there for 3 years. Connecticut doesn't have him on their PBS. Not fair.....we have moose too!

What do I mean? When you post on a busy thread and suddenly it looks like nobody is posting anymore.....you're the last one......and on and on sing the crickets after your comment.......

In my opinion thread killers are the ones that do one of the following:

1. Lay down 3 or 4 postings quoting 500 lines of thread discussion
2. Start posting without reading what has already been discussed
3. Go way off topic and everyone seems to follow them there
4. Jump in just because they like to debate

No postings since last night, but I have belief in this thread

Rather than starting a new thread I'll post a question here.
Has anyone ever heard of the "protestant work ethic"?
What important times in history did it make its biggest mark?

Half of those would be tos violations.

I believe the protestant work ethic is mostly recognized when the first settlers (the puritans) came to the USA and believed that hard work is a command of God and we are rewarded from God based on the amount of work we do. Basically, the fruits of our labor. It seems to make sense from any perspective to me. I believe the success of the USA can be mostly attributed to the protestant work ethic. As we see now though, things are changing. Other cultures and beliefs are forming the USA into a collective system of things that maybe don't work well together.

Everything I just said is not backed by much research and is mostly opinion. Maybe I'll start a new thread about it and see if I can learn from the more knowledgeable members than I on this topic.

I do not drink tea at all.

How do you survive living in Boston if you don't drink tea. I figured with the tea party and all that it would be a requirement to be a tea drinker.

Nah, thats kinda like thinking that people from California only eat health food such as Sushi and Tofu.

No, no, no....a tea party in Boston requires wearing a costume and tossing tea into large bodies of water to prevent it from turning into tacks. No wait...that's tax. This is why I don't drink tea anywhere above Cape Cod. Because the local traditions are too "steeped" in the past. ROFL (It's 1:21 in the a.m.....I'm amusing myself....my teens are staying up to watch the digital clock on the dvr jump backwards an hour at 2:00! Where do they come up with this stuff?) Maybe I'll have a cup of tea. (I'm southwest of Cape Cod in CT...so it's safe to have tea without costumes and large bodies of water...)

I normally drink green tea, but recently found black tea to be quite pleasant.

I have the blood of many threads on my hands. The guilt! Oh! The GUILT! I hear the tiny voices of the deceased threads in my head. "Why? Why, Rumely, WHY have done this terrible thing?"
I could not help it! How could I know that my post would end so lively and vigorous of a thread? They all looked so robust, and yet they withered at my touch. But now...NOW I know the horrible power at my fingertips. And yet, I cannot help myself. I see an intriguing thread and the compulsion to post overpowers my feeble will. Please, little thread, don't die! Run and play and grow into a great, big thread full of bright, shining posts.
