ORIGINAL: JazTek I lived in Naples off and on for about 9 years. There is a lot of Idoltry in their churches and praying to Saints. They even have parades where they have a statue of an Idol (some towns have their own particular "favorite" idol) and march it around the city. I was in the Navy Band over there and was privvy(?) to this event many times. We would play at town festivals all the time. I didn't think about it back then (BC days) but now, wow....How sad...I think the evil one is always trying to divert people's eyes, so this is no surprise. Come quickly Lord Jesus. Are they worshiping the idol/saints??? Praying to saints is far different from worshiping them. Worshiping the statues or saints is strictly forbidden by God (that would be idolotry). Asking others (including the saints) to pray for you is not, and is in fact Biblical. I'm assuming that this is the case with people praying to saints, since Napels is in a nation that is predominantly Catholic. http://www.catholic.com/library/Praying_to_the_Saints.asp These people aren't asking the saints to do anything more than pray for them. Saints have no mystical powers or anything of that nature, nor is it believed that they do. There is no worship of them or holding them up as being like God.
