Yummy. :)

Any meds can kill a person at any dosage. Just be safe and realize it's a risk we take any time we ingest something foreign. If you want to take over the recommended dosage on the OTC bottle, just remember it's a risk we take if we decide to do so. It should go without saying, but I said it anyway. :) You're an adult, and of course, you decide whatever you want to do and which things you want to try.

I've had problems with iron, and bleeding continuously never helps me out. I try to take iron supplements if I have some. (I usually have a multi-vitamin w/iron, but I can't take multivitamins.) My mom claims that potassium supplements used to help her; I've not heard that from anyone else though. (It wasn't prescription K; it was just a supplement like vitamin E, etc.)

This is a little OT, but Solo, have you tried different multis? I had a hard time finding one that didn't make me really sick after taking it, but finally succeeded. I take a chewable that is all natural (from Trader Joe). I know others who have had success with liquid vitamins.

I had a friend that was a nurse that used to get all upset by the amount I had. But I said it is one day a month. I don't think my organs are going to get that messed up from one day.

I also have 800 ml horse pills, but I can't swallow them very well. I got them from the Dr.

The best advice I would give is go to the Dr. and get some advice and meds. Don't suffer for 15 years before finally going and finding out that bad periods like I get are not normal and they can do things to help you.

I've had horse pills before too! Should you (or anyone) need them in the future, it's worth asking the doctor or pharmacist if they can give you more of a smaller dose tablet. Or even a soluble version.

Diffferent multivitamins, you mean? I'm not supposed to take multis; if I do decide I want to take some, I have to take them all separated because there are certain vitamins I'm not to take. I used to have to take 40 pills a day just for my pain disorders, and I remember back then I didn't feel like taking a bunch of vitamins on top of that. Now, because I can't tell which vitamins will make me sick, I just steer clear of most of them.

That's true. :)

Thinking back on the friend who passes out and vomits without her meds (and sometimes with them as well), sometimes there are other things that can be done to help as well. There's a surgery she can have to untwist her uterus (she doesn't want the surgery-- which is fine), but there are other options than medications in some instances. It just depends on what's wrong.

Here is what has greatly helped my cramps:

calcium supplements!!!

The bottle says three make up 100% of the calcium needed in a day, but I only take 1.

If I remember to take them most every day, my period is mild, I only need about three 600 mg doses of Advil to get through my period.

Another thought was what I had to do for a kid's fever once.

Regular dose of tylenol 3 hours later a regular dose of advil, 3 hours later, tylenol. You get the idea

Two meds working differently, but in tandem.

I did that too. Luckily it only happens once a month.

i suffer from pretty hard cramps quite often and i don't take meds (prescription or otherwise) if i can help it. i have found that mild exercise and an iron fortified diet has helped me considerably. (lots of dark green leafy veggies and oj) i also agree that before you increase dosage on any medicines (even OTC) you should definitely consult your dr.
