All I can say is "Wow"!! I looked at the floor plans before I read the rest of your post and I was going to say, "You're having two toilets side-by-side?! I guess some married folk want to do everything together!" But then you stated it was a bidet. Personally I don't quite get those things. Maybe I'm too normal and that's too fancy. . . Great house though.

I am not one of those people who can do everything with their spouses. We were married for about 10 years before I let her watch me brush my teeth!

It will probably go away (depending) but I didn't have time to redo the drawings to that degree. I love playing with AutoCAD but just don't have much time to do it.

LOL! I was thinking the same thing, it sounds like the perfect house! And considering the fact

that I want a lot of kids, it would be the perfect size too!

Of course you can. The design is the easy part, coming up with the money to build it. Now that's a different story.

I keep looking at land listings here. They had a 195 acre farm with house going for 1.1M. That would be just too cool. Now I just need the money (Please God?).

Amen!

I want to build on the water......hmmmm......don't know if I could do a farm.

Hey, it's the "dream" home, right? We can dream of it - and let God do the rest.

And, just because I don't have children doesn't mean I don't want a large place to be able to entertain and have lots and lots and lots of ministry opportunities there.

Single: A 2 bedr. condo by the beach or some body of water.

Married: A 3 bedroom condo by the beach or some body of water.
If the hubby is a hard worker and is handy around the home (my dream guy)...the kind of guy that likes physical work like mowing the lawn and hammering things...and if we have kids:

Green house. Solar powered. wood floors/no carpets. front porch with hammocks/a swing. Modern kitchen. Spiral stairs. A lemon tree. A family library! 4 bedrooms (for family to stick aroound), small backyard for intimate gatherings of not more than 20 (Im a fan of taking kids out of the house to go play with strange children, large yard not needed). Bathrooms with WINDOWS. No fences, not even to separate from neighbors...maybe a tree or 2 between us! and a roof I can hang out on. A closet that spins...notn sure which state. Maybe Oregon or Washington or northern Cal. 1-2 kids is ideal and I would love to have a log cabin and spend 2 months in the country a year or 2 months in a different country all together! and now Im putting a bow aroun this dream home and a prayer!

I just want a small place in the country with a barn, a pond, horses, chickens, gardens, a dog agility course, a dog grooming room, puppy birthing room, personal library, and an art room. I don't ask for much, do I?

Big house PDF

8 bedrooms, 6 1/2 baths.

The basement needs to be reworked to get out from under the garage. The garage needs to be reworked (20' deep is too shallow). The basement stairs are not shown (they are under the stairs in the MISC room). It will also be a walkout basement but the site will determine where the door is.

Roof lines are very sketchy.

The secret room on the third floor has a false wall blocking the doors into Guest suite 1. The hidden spiral would be the main entry into it unless I have to bring big stuff (like furniture) into it.

On first floor that's a pool table in the pool room. dining table in dining room and island in kitchen.

Elevator runs from basement to attic.

Library has bookshelve lined balcony overlooking pool room.

Master bath has toilet and bidet. Rectangular area in lounge are bookshelves.

Full bath on first floor (end of hallway) will probably be expanded into misc room

So there it is. Just a sketch but I like the design so far. A big house designed for entertaining.

Nice house John!

How would you get large items, like a mattress, upstairs? I don't know why but I always think of that when I see house plans.

It occured to me why I think that way. My mom had an old piano that was apparently in the basement when the house was built by the previous owner or the piano was built in the basement. As there was physically no way to get it up the stairs short of dismantling it which is what ended up happening.

You could leave the basement under the garage. Just use preformed concrete beams like they use for bridges in the ceiling. A local guy did that so he could have a larger model railroad.

ETA part about the piano.

I have many dreams houses.........a cabin in the woods..........a big old farmhouse with lots of character........you know one which frowns when you leave and smiles when you return.......

I want a big four season room with windows which open up to the night sounds

A fireplace for the cold winter nights

A huge kitchen for everyone to gather

a library

A wrap around porch or at lease a huge covered front porch were welcoming rockers could be placed and a huge deck for an outdoor living space in the back

Now this is very important.........

The house must face east and west.........with the porches facing those directions.........so that I can enjoy the setting and rising sun.

Our master suite has to have big windows facing the east so that I can wake up with the sun kissing my cheeks..........and a balcony off the master would be nice as well....one without a roof so that I can see the stars at night.

The kitchen window should face the west so I can watch the sun set over the snow covered hills in the winter as I wash the dishes..............

hmmmmmm I think that might be it for now.

Joy, your dream houses sound wonderful! I almost forgot one thing that I really want my dream

house to have and that's a gazebo! I think it would be so much fun to go out there and dance

like they did in "A Cinderella Story"! Even though I am not the world's best dancer, I still think it

is so much fun to do! I think that is why I like Pride and Prejudice so much, the dancing and the

over all cuteness, what can I say, I'm a hopeless romantic! I NEED HELP!! LOL!!

Just about everything will fit in the elevator (I think it's 4' square) else up the stairs it goes.

Somehwere I have a layout designed for the basement. It fills the whole wing opposite the round room. Twin mainline runnng the circumference, mountains in the back (A coal mine operation. I like the long strings of coal hoppers). Big yard to the left . Ah wouldn't it be grand to have the money and time to do something like that.

Yes it would be great. The local guy with the garage with the basement has is entire basement filled with his railroad it is 4 decks high. It starts at about 1 foot off the floor and goes to 6 feet off the floor. Going around the room 4 times. It has been in national magazines multiple times. I think it takes 20 or more people to operate it properly. Some of my customers operate and work on it with him.

- four bedrooms and at least three baths

- a huge kitchen with a double oven, an island where people can gather 'round, and one of those huge deep sinks

- the master bath must have a whirlpool tub and a separate walk-in shower

- the master bedroom would have a cozy sitting area (maybe with a fireplace?) for long talks or quiet devotions.

- I'd love a large rec room where the kids can hang out with their friends. That way I could keep an eye on them and they could have their own space. Pool table, ping pong, comfy couches, and a fridge filled with pop and snacks.

- a big outdoor seating area, part of it covered, part not. And a firepit towards the back of the property. I love sitting around a fire.

- the front exterior would look something like this
I like the interior pictures on this link too.

-the outdoor seating area would look something like this This isn't quite what I'm picturing in my head, but gives you an idea.

- A girl can dream right? My mom would say "it will just rust and decay and the moths will eat away". Why are moms always right?

John, great plans!! What color will it be? I need to go get some dream-house pictures. There's a house out in the country not far from here that, if I remember correctly, looks like it may have similar plans to yours. It's also a 3-story house.

edited 'cause I can't think tonight -- I know, what's new.

michelle......i LOVE that you posted this!!!!!! i love reading about everyone's dreams and ideas. i grew up working at my uncle's eathan allen gallery...so i've had a life-long intnderest in decorating and design. i have literally been keeping clippings, houseplans, pics, etc for my dream house for almost 30 yrs! i'm afraid to even BEGIN to try to describe my dream home. y'all just might fall asleep. (that's a thot...maybe if you can't sleep some night you can PM me. giggle)

y'all just KNOW i'm gonna have to go thru my files and scan in some pics.

and michelle...thanks for reminding me about the dream book. i've heard stories like that before. maybe i need to focus my prayers a little more...have something visual and measurable to stimulate me. thanks, sweetie!

Bows deeply to Queen Organizer. Wow! I should've done something similar years ago. But then I change my interests often... I might go for Victorian one day and modern the next. I guess I gave up on my shifting moods.

You know what pictures show up in my files often? Thomas Kincaid pictures! Yep -- I love that guy's paintings. Who hasn't said they would love to live in those places?

Oh, you should describe your dream home... that's why this thread is here, hon! I LOVE "seeing" everyone's dream home. (I might just get a few ideas for my own, too. )

i have one his paintings. it was my 'divorce' present from my ex. (he'd promised to buy me one...cuz we used to go to san fran/monterrey/carmel 5-6 times a year and i'd fallen in love with kinkade...but of course...he never QUITE got around to it.)

my funny kinkade story is that i talked to a realator and found out he used one of the houses on ocean ave (street nearest carmel's beach) in one of his paintings...and when we drove by it was for sale!!!! so i had my hubby park the car and i had him take my pic standing by the front gate. would you believe this tiny little 2BR home was originally listed for $3.2 million dollars!!!!!! (that, of course, was JUST outta our price range! giggle) but it's fun to dream, right?

I kind of like red brick and cream trim. But then I don't know. I'm inept when it come to decorating. Everything in my house was decorated by M and I haven't changed a thing. Not because it's a shrine or something (It isn't) but because I haven't a clue what to put up where.

I just thought of two more rooms I want to add as I was doing a math problem.......

I want a room for the children's desk, computers and other school supplies........I would decorate it in an old fashion school room theme and that is where they would do their school work.........No computers in bedrooms.......

The second room is added on to the master suite.......part of the balcony but this windows which open but are shaded.........with a clear ceiling.....in the room would be a bed.....so my husband and I could lay in bed watching the stars every night if we wanted......winter or summer

My dream house would also have an outdoor hot-tub.......not so much for the summer but the winter.......I love sitting in a hot tub with huge snow flakes falling .........

and down by the lake would be a sauna.....a rock one.......we could go in it for a short time and then take a deep in the cold water........

Maybe my dream home is a nature spa......

i dream of a little cottage...whether it's in a wooded country setting, or near a beach.

the most important thing is the tin roof. i want to curl up in my chair...or lie in bed...or sit on the porch and listen to the rain pattering on the roof. in the country...it'll be a dark barn red. at the beach...a weathered, 'natural' silver.

it will be a rustic, weathered wood frame house. the front porch will have a swing...and a wicker chair and rocker.

it will be small...just 2 BRs: my (our?) master suite (along the back side of the house) and one guest room. but just in case...i'll put a murphy bed in the study.

there'll be a stone walkway....leading from one of those drives that's just two rows of paving stones with beautiful green grass between...leading to a 2-car garage with doors that open out from the center.

Should have the big house up as a PDF tomorrow. I just finished dimensioning and labeling it.

Of course it's just a rough sketch but I still like it.

Can't wait to see it!

Years ago, I read about a woman who had her dream home and dream life. So she started cutting pictures out of magazines and put them together in a journal and prayed over them. You know what? She found her ideal husband AND had her dream home. I guess that's part of the reason I started this thread... because I wanted to talk about our dream homes... do you believe the Lord can provide both our spouses AND our dreams? (I do)

I believe it!
