Obviously, acting out on an urge is a choice, but as to what causes the urges in the first place... I suspect there's a lot we don't understand. -Dan. Yeah, try saying that one in Morality/Ethics. Apparently we choose to have urges in some people's minds. It's actually interesting stuff to research...but maybe that's because that's what I'm researching right now! Cool. Good luck. -Dan.

Sorry humble to take it off subject, but what else is there to say? Ted Haggard, Ray Boltz. I will pray,it does bring dishonor to the name of Christ. I mean does he love himself, much more than Jesus? I mean love himself so much that, he could not have laid down his homosexuality? I had to lighten this up, because it is a shame that, people will fall away. Hope the NewsBoys are all straight. I would be devestated, my favorite group.

No problem Light, I just thought that maybe that you were thinking that you were offending me and that if so that it would be better to chat about it somewhere else instead.

Using that same line of reasoning, I am wondering if you love yourself so much that you could not lay down your heterosexuality? You are asking him to lay down that same component of his life that you most likely are unable to lay down in your own. You are asking him to lie to Jesus about who he is. How he was created. I will be praying for Ray as he navigates this world with the reality of how this world treats those in a minority that many find so easy to hate.

There is one song that he did back in the 80's that I am not sure if it ever made it on an album or not, but was about the Rapture and one day his mailman flying away. He went to see his pastor to find out what happened to his mailman (fortunately the pastor was still there!) and they just couldn't figure out where the miailman went at all. Anyone else ever hear that song at all?

This is some of the saddest news I've seen in a while. Ray Boltz has been one of my favorites in CCM, and I am very disheartened to read in the interview, that he is, in effect, giving up the battle and embracing his sin. I will be praying for him, for his family, and for the thousands of people he will be a stumbling block to, until he repents.

I posted a response before reading that we couldn't talk about homosexuality anymore. Sorry...I have deleted it.

wow, I am very surprised that he finally came out with this info. bottling something up, and living in secrecy, and in denial will never accomplish a greater good. God's principles do not work that way. I hope the stone throwers stay home.

Well, no stone throwing, but, if we cannot live for Christ, how would we ever die for him? Ray Boltz has a gift, I am sure his carrer is ruined so be it though. quote:

I had my radio on the American Family Radio network overnight, and I first heard it as I was getting up this morning and my mouth just hit the floor. On that report, I heard a comment (or lack of one) by the GMA on the matter that disturbed me as much if not more than Boltz's announcement. One News Now story

I just don't get it. My family has been to his concerts, has all his CDs, has videos he made on Missions in Botswana... I am crushed. I became a Christian in the mid 90s and his was the first Christian music that I bought. (It was actually a cassette back then, before I got used to CDs) I just don't know how he can justify this. I'm heartsick over it. I will definitely be praying for him!!!!!

His lifestyle choice has ruined his songs for me. I hope our church takes them from our rotation. quote:
"If this is the way God made me, then this is the way I’m going to live...I really feel closer to God because I no longer hate myself." Those were the words of Ray Boltz in an interview with the Washington Blade about his decision to engage in homosexuality. Boltz, a father of four who was married for 33 years before officially divorcing his wife this year, is well-known for his widely acclaimed songs "Thank You" and "I Pledge Allegiance to the Lamb. http://www.onenewsnow.com/Church/Default.aspx?id=250538 I'll pray for his wife and four children.

The thing that bothers me is that the source for this "news" is a homosexual site, the Washington Blade. I've looked but, other than links ultimately back to the "Blade," I cannot find another confirmation. Does anyone have another, reliable source to confirm this? Thanks, JF

We have that church in my community - it is known for being very gay friendly. Make of it what you'd like.

We definitely need to pray for Ray. Unfortunately, Ray is living proof of what happens when you have a stronghold in your life that is not removed. It may be homosexuality, pornography, shopping addiction, etc.. None of us are immune. If we have a stronghold and continue to disregard God's warnings to us to remove it, God will allow us to harden/sear the conscience that God uses to convict us. Then look at where we are. In the same place Ray is. No longer convicted about the sin that is in our life. Please do not make the same mistake Ray made. Do not hide the sin. Expose it to the light, pray, and do the work to get rid of it in your life.

MCC isn't "gay-friendly"...it is, in fact, a church for gay people. There's one right down the street from me. I don't think I know who Ray Boltz is, but I looked at his website and I don't think there's much ambiguity there. Nor do I think a musician who is gay should expect to be "accepted for who he is" and be allowed to continue any sort of ministry. And this is a weird quote from that web article: quote:
When asked about Boltz's homosexuality, The Gospel Music Association -- the group which gives out the Dove Awards -- told the Blade, "We do not comment on the lifestyle choices of people in our community." According to Quinlan, by making such a statement the GMA seems to be "enabling a behavior that is totally inconsistent, incongruent with the message of the gospel."

As I said, we have one in my city - I just don't know all that much about it. However, my former Singles group leader came out a while ago and attends there - so, yeah, it makes sense. I've liked some of his music over the years. Kath - I would HOPE this puts an end to that song being sung at your funeral!
