Rockwall -> Teen almost seperated from her mom (9/10/2008 4:56:09 PM)

Basically this is a story about a 13 year old girl born in Washington state who was going to Mexico because her mother and 2 brothers were being deported and her and her 6 yr. old American born sister were going with them. Eventually a Christian philanthropist reached out to them and is helping the teen stay. quote:
Stories like these are becoming more common, immigration analysts say, with American children caught in the middle of their mother or father's illegal status. A report last month in the Journal of the American Medical Association said these children face "increasing risk of family separation, economic hardship and psychological trauma." "It's really hard to imagine something that can be more traumatic than to be forcibly separated from their caregiver. That's the enforcement climate that we're operating in now," says Miriam Calderon, the associate director for education and children's policy at the National Council of La Raza, the largest Hispanic advocacy group in the United States. CNN LINK This is a sob story to me and it's the mother's fault not the US governments fault that this family is torn apart. Many say that it is un-Christian like to want illegals deported and have seen slogans such as "Who would Jesus deport?". I think it's funny that many people who scream for "separation of church and state" all of a sudden want to invoke Christianity in order to breed compassion and sympathy among people. We are a nation of laws and those who break the laws should pay for it. Constitutionally these anchor babies are American citizens, but if their parents get deported the kids should either go with them or don't complain about being separated. What say you?
