shell18_86 -> thinking of dropping out of one school for another...advice please (9/10/2008 12:08:52 PM)

ok so right now i go to school online through pennfoster and am studying to be a medical transcriptionist. well i have been working in a senior living comunity and have been seeing alot of lpn's and decided i would rather be an lpn. but in order to do that i would have to drop out of online school and go attend a school to be an lpn. the only thing that bothers me is i am wondering if it would be a bad thing to drop out of one school to go to another. any advice on this?

Before dropping out you should consider a few things. How far are you into the current term. Will dropping out affect your grades which could affect you being accepted by the lpn program. Will you lose money on classes you have already paid for but not completed? If you are in the middle of a term, I would suggest fininshing the current term and work towards transferring. It is likely that many classes won't transfer due to the difference in the types of programs., but for any that do, you will save time and money.

You should consider going to get your associates degree in nursing, become an LPN and then go for the Registered Nurse. That's if you ever want to work in a hospital and you'll have more options careerwise.

Dropping out of one school to attend another is fine. Or you could go to a college and go straight for your bachelors in nursing.
