Teaching sex education does not tech them about love, it does not teach them about infatuation, it does teach them the basic mechanics of their bodies. It teaches them how the organs work and how they work together, meaning male and female. When I was teaching sex ed it included oral sex and anal sex. That was 25 years ago. I taught about STD's, methods of birth control and so on. Today it includes sex between two men and two men.

OK so I am your son's sex ed teacher. He wants to know about homosexual sex and how to have it safely. Do you think that by law that teacher can tell him in a public school that it's wrong? Make any kind of gesture that it's wrong. Correct the class if they say it's wrong? Methods of birth control.....when asked I would have to provide all options and even tell them how to go about getting it. If I was asked about abortion I would have to tell them about it and if avaliable in our area where they could go get one. Questions about how to have safe sex with a group of people. Again without bia I must answer the question to the best of my ability without giving any hint of moral condemnation or judgement. All of this without any Christian bias

I can tell you personally, speaking, (I am a substitute teacher), should I be subbing that day and one of the kids asks me about it, I WILL tell them the truth. And I will have a problem with anyone who doesn't tell them the truth. It's really simple, either people believe what they say or they don't. One either stands up for the truth or they don't. I still have no problem with sex ed in schools. I also know that my children feel very comfortable coming to me with their questions, so should a teacher say something that doesn't quite "feel" right to them, they will ask me about it. I think that this proposed legislation is getting people's fears all riles up for no reason. Talk about is encouraging homosexuality and abortion is really a far stretch. Will those topics come up- I am sure they will. Think about the awesome opportunity parents then have to discuss it and SHOW them what the Bible says regarding those issues. So often we forget that God is Sovereign and He knows what He is doing and we often just get in the way!

NO, I'm saying we can get so narrow minded in our views that we fail to see how and what God can and will do, if we get out of the way. It's a much bigger picture than the view you are seeing through that tunnel.

ORIGINAL: Bob_George Conservatives have to choose between opposing abortion or opposing sexual education. Abortion is most common amongst teens and young adults. It's only logic that teen pregnancy is a direct result of lack of sexual education. So if you want to reduce the numbers of abortion, teaching sexual education in schools is an effective way to do that. And that explains why the sexual epidemic amongst teen-agers is so high; we taught them how to do "it" when they were still in middle school!! GOOD ARGUMENT!!

What is the "sex education" that was going to be taught? No on really knows, LOL. And in some instances the School Board doesn't want the parents to know what the curriculum will be; just try and get that information, including the teacher prep work and watch the fireworks start

Would this translate that love and sex between two men is acceptable? Actually yes. There have already been several schools taken to task for allowing books such as "I have two mommies" and "I have two daddies" to be used as part of their curriculum. I have a serious problem with the school systems trying to legitimize homosexual relationships. Schools are looked upon as authority figures to children and when what the school teaches conflicts with what a parent tells their children it becomes confusing to the child. When you try to teach your child what the Bible says and they respond, "But Daddy, that's not what teacher says," I then have the difficult responsibility to tell my child that they can't believe everything they are taught in school. How does that affect the rest of their education? If they can't believe one thing a teacher tells them how do young children know when they can trust a teacher. Exactly!! quote:

So often we forget that God is Sovereign and He knows what He is doing and we often just get in the way! Why wait until "then" to have this and other sex education that included discussing sex-predators/offenders? Parents have the awesome opportunity to discuss it and SHOW them what the Bible says, before being mandated to attend sex education classes and getting all messed up and confused. Just how well would your child fair in school if he asked the teacher which one was correct --- God or man/ parent or teacher (curriculum) --- on the subject? You know the public school is not going to teach what the Bible says. So again it goes back to inthysite's post.

Point being is too many parents don't discuss it with their kids until it is too late. Too many parents are uncomfortable talking about it with their kids, the school then gives the opportunity for questions to be asked at home. I assure you, if more parents addressed it, there wouldn't be need for sex ed in schools. Nor would there be the rise in teen pregnancies. Without the education kids don't know. If parents don't discuss it, they still don't know. TV romanticizes it and glorifies it. And of course with all the tv shows that glamorize anything sexual, all the kids get an education, unfortunately, it's not the one that tells them they can get pregnant the first time or that they can get a deadly disease form sex. Sex ed is really only the plan B for parents who don't or won't address it.

You know, I've ready pretty much all of the posts in this thread and I don't see a single one that asserts that parents can't teach their kids sex ed any time and any way that they want.

Call me naive, nut indoctrinate them how? And with what? I live in a small east Texas town. We don't do things here, like they do in California.

What is the "sex education" that was going to be taught? quote:
Probably something like what the "We Are Family Foundation" promoted which is heavily into indoctrinating elementary kids with homosexuality. So in other words, you have no idea. How about this PLOT: "On the tallest mountain above (a) town," a young prince still has not married, as is the custom in his kingdom. His mother, a grouchy Queen insists he must find a princess to marry. The prince tells his mom "Very well, Mother.... I must say, though, I've never cared much for princesses." His mother marches princess after princess through the castle, but they fail to interest the prince. After a while along comes princess Madaleine escorted by her brother Prince Lee, who causes the prince to exclaim, "What a wonderful prince!" The prince immediately falls in love with the other prince, and they begin marriage preparations at once. The story ends with a kiss between the two kings. The FACT is that Obama voted for a bill that places Kindergartners in a sex education curriculum. One that includes such bright ideas as using the book above to indoctrinate children into the normalization of homosexuality. The liberal public school system does not and will not teach sexuality CORRECTLY. If they want to have a one day class about not letting people touch their "privates", then go for it. That is all the public school system needs to do if MY kids are there (and they don't even NEED to do that). Barack Obama: Wrong on education. Wrong for your family.

I asked my son about his class and he said that they never once mentioned homosexuality or abortion but they did promote abstinence. I suppose it depends on what part of the country you are in. Obviously, California would promote more liberated ideas. As for the story, do you have proof that is a text that the use?

Actually it's more of a county by county thing, not a state by state. I live in a rural area in Georgia and they pretty much stick with Christian values, most of the teachers are Christians. However, the closer you get to Atlanta the more liberal it gets and the more liberal the school's agenda gets. I know because I moved out here to get away from all that. quote:

The government uses this as an argument to say that they are better at raising our kids than we are. That's the whole problem with liberals. They want bigger government so they can have more control. Control over how you spend your money. Control over who teaches your kids. Control over what doctor you can see, or what health benefits you can have. Control over what kind of car you can have. Control over how much money you can make. Control over your retirement.

This is just a cop out. Unfortunately it is the truth. Whether the liberals" put a spin on it or not. Many parents, republican, democrat or liberal are too uncomfortable discussing sex with their kids. For too many, it's a " being appropriate issue", rather than arming their kids with information to protect and guide them.
