After I posted this message last week, our unit went on on a field training exercise (i'm currently in the US Army) for the week.

I didn't use my phone out there, but right before we left I asked Be if she'd like to go bowling with me on saturday, she said yes. So during the week I kept looking at her photo and I slowly realized something about myself. The girls I have been interested in in the past have always been girls that I see often, like one that was in my band class she sat in front of me and I would always look and admire her hair, eventually after a couple of weeks I started to feel something for her. Another girl was involved in my church, I used to play during P&W and she would do the transparencies, I would always see her during practices, I wasn't attracted to her initially either. And that's when it hit me. I realized that it probably didn't matter what kind of picture she would have sent, It wasn't that I was repulsed, it was that I actually felt vulnerable knowing that she now knew how I looked like and vice-versa.

Fast-forwarding to saturday night- I went to the bowling alley, she walked up and yes, the first five minutes were a little awkward. Her photo was a horrible one, but that's not the point. The point is, the more that I looked at her face, the more I began to appreciate it. I didn't spent that much time with her that night (well, it didn't seem like it), but before we called it a night she asked me "would you like to go to this museum, I want to show you something that's there". I said ok, then on sunday around 1 pm I went to her house and picked her up. We ended up walking downtown a bit (parking is a little scarce) to the museum and after that we went to the movies. By the time I dropped her off at her house, my earlier thinking reflected in my previous post seemed silly.

She does have some features about her that some (probably most imo) men would be turned off by, like a little bit of a belly, but honestly it doesn't bother me in the least. So everything went pretty great I think.. I just wanted to share my experience here so other men might be able to get something out of it. If I would have been so proud of my appearance that I couldn't bend my preconceived notions of what beauty is a little I know that I'd be missing out BIG TIME now. We really clicked, you know. And yes, now I do feel attracted to her, and also I like her great personality even more..
