When I was a kid I hated broccoli. Then when I got older I learned to actually like it. And now I've stopped liking it. Since I'm an adult no one can make me eat it. Are there any foods you used to like and now you don't?

I'm moving towards lighter, cleaner tasting foods. -Dan.

I guess I am in the minority here; I love veggies. I cannot and will not eat oatmeal. Blech!

Oh yes, I won't eat oatmeal either. Even the smell makes me gag a little. For the record, I love most vegetables. I don't like cauliflower, brussel sprouts or lima beans. But I love all the squashes, peppers, leafy plants, carrots, asparagus, etc. I'm just going to have to mark broccoli off my list. I, too, steer away from greasy foods. I like things that are steamed, lean meats, etc. I'm also eating more fruit these days.

I've stopped liking carrots. They were a staple in our family when I was growing up. Unless (believe it or not) they're canned (or as we say in the UK "tinned"). I love tinned baby carrots with peas, and it's so quick to heat them through and serve. But as for "real" carrots, yuk, I will only eat them mashed up with potato and parsnip.

That's funny Manda, I'll only eat carrots if I grow them myself, unless they're mixed in with something, like a casserole.

Yep. Meat! I was raised a carnivore, but now it completely grosses me out and never comes close to my lips (that includes all flesh, including poultry and seafood). I love baby lima beans, but the bigger ones have a freaky texture. I love most other veggies too, except for celery, peppers, and raw onions. I also used to like strong flavors, like lots of garlic or flavored chips, but now I don't. I loved cow's milk until my teens, but find it icky since then and instead I love almond, rice, and soy milk (though I don't buy soy often).

I'm the opposite. I eat most anything* now. Even if I don't necessarily think it's "delicious," I don't mind it. Like cucumbers. And peppers. Though I still don't really care for green ones. And olives. They've grown on me. *Anything as far as real food, not packaged, canned, fast, junk food, etc., which I never really liked or ate, unless I had to.

I like cooked spinach for about 10 minutes when I was 6 years old. Some vegetables taste like dirt if they get too old, so I avoid them. We grew up on cabbage - fried, boiled, steamed...but I can't stomach brussel sprouts I also drank skim milk as a kid and apparantly that was not a good thing for me...I now drink rice milk and love it. lima beans - big or small, green or brown are something that I have to be really hungry to eat, and of course, they must be served over rice.

Put it in soup or stew and I'll eat just about any veggie except okra. Limas are way down on the list, too. Can't eat McD's any more. Used to love it. Same for BK, although I stopped eating there when they stopped actually flame broiling them and started painting on stripes and adding smoke flavoring.

I just don't understand people that don't like broccoli. I'm extremely picky and have food texture issues (I can't eat shell beans without feeling like vomiting and the lists of 'can't eats' goes on) but I've grown to love broccoli. Even my kids like it. The only thing I can guess is that they don't buy it fresh or cook it too long (the longer you cook broccoli the ickier it gets). Fresh broccoli steamed until it just changes color is incredible. If it's too plain for you dip it or marinate it in a wide variety of sauces (sesame soy is pretty good). Things I thought I would never like: spinach (great in salads but don't cook it!) chard (ditto) carrots (love the babies, cooked are only okay) broccoli (don't like it raw, don't like it overcooked) asparagus (roasted or lightly sauted in oil) zucchini (marinated in olive oil, grilled, and salted) squash (spaghetti squash...yum) tomatoes (needs to be heirloom or freshly grown) peas (love sugar snap peas) lettuce (other varieties like cos/romaine/leaf have more character)

forgot to add: celery is only a means by which to eat peanut butter, pimento cheese or cream cheese, cottage cheese or any other spreadable, edible item cauliflower looks like an autopsy and should never be consumed

Cauliflower + olive oil roasted in the oven = yum. Same for brussel sprouts. Sooo good. Or mashed, with garlic and butter. Broccoli's so versatile. The stalks are my favourite part. I pickled some last month and they were a hit at a party I went to. I like celery chopped up in potato or egg salad. Or cream of celery soup. Or covered with hummus.

Beets and turnips. I've tried to like them. I just can't.

I haven't drunk any cow's milk for about 5 years now. I wasn't intending on giving it up, but I did a food intolerance test (pin pr ick blood test) that indicated I produced level 2 antibodies against dairy produce. So I cut out ALL dairy for 6 weeks, then tried reintroducing one item at a time - found I could tolerate a little cheese, a little yogurt, a little cream even, but not milk. So I cut it out totally and not only did my heartburn and digestive issues go, but also my sinus problems.
