Liberal "Christians sadden me.

I too have been gone from here for a very long time. I was a moderator when the forums just started up. I moderated for a couple of years. It's certainly grown ALOT! God has blessed Crosswalk.

ORIGINAL: Jhud Another odd thing about the Obama supporters - they have all mentioned the Tina Fey thing today. It must have been in this mornings official transmission from headquarters. I never thought about Tina Fey, but now that you mention it, she does invoke Tina Fey. I don't think that is something that shoudl be taken as an insult--Tina Fey is awesome. Anyway, back to the first post. I am not sure how anybody could get Hillary from her (and I like Hillary so this is not something against Hillary). I also don't think the McCain campaign are trying to make her Hillary the Second, either. She is more to shore up the base than anything and the speech more contrasted her with Obama than trying to talk how she is another Hillary--which I think is something they shouldn't even try given she stands against everything Hillary supports and that would look patronizing to women Hillary supporters.

Attractive, gracious, bright, and accomplished - I'm not seeing Hillary there. In fairness Senator Clinton is definitely two of the four, the third is debatable (I'll go with a yes but not to me personally) and she can pretend to be the fourth. I'll let the reader decides which adjective fits where.

I think Sarah Palin was great last night. She was attractive, gracious, bright, accomplished, tough, knowledgeable and impressive! After listening to her speech (which they said was her first in front of that many people), I was totally impressed. She took away any doubts I have in a woman helping to lead this country.

I didn't really think of Hillary at all when I saw her. I had heard that her nickname was Barracuda - and hearing her speak, I thought, well, this is why! I thought it was a mixture of attacks - which was expected, but heck, she sure can deliver - and heartfelt respect for McCain, of which he deserves. It was definitely aimed at the base, and the only thing I don't think she talked about was the economy. And, she dashed in humor, speaking directly to the 'hockey moms' - very funny and cool. I thought it was great. Peace and God bless,

I noticed the resemblance the day she was announced. I only caught the second half of the speech last night. It was delivered well enough - not particularly commanding or inspiring, but coherent and lucid which is more than some can say. I was pretty much turned off by the standard conservative boilerplate rhetoric and more of McCain's "Noun, Verb, POW" language. I you support what she does, I'm sure you think she did a great job. I saw it as a potentially interesting candidate just going along with more of the same policies that haven't worked. -Dan.

Yeah, I thought Palin's speech was definitely aimed at the base - but I think she delivered it very well. And, I think she looks a lot like Tina Fey, and thought so from the getgo. But, then again, if you don't watch 30 Rock, or didn't watch old SNL, you might not know what Tina Fey looks like. Peace and God bless,

For what it's worth, my mother is a 70 something rock-ribbed Republican who will vote McCain/Palin, although she would have preferred Huckabee at the top of the ticket. When I visited her today, after telling me how much she was impressed by Palin's speech and even quoting from it, she said "she reminds me very much of Hillary Clinton". Go figure.

Well I guess that since she did not extoll the benefits of gigantic piles of aborted babies that could be used to replace the global warming causing follil fuels that she did not ring the bell of the tree hugging pinko liberals. Thanks RC

Hi WesP! Yeah, "Ekserekseez" is about the only nickname I ever received that wasn't obscene. And it really is the way most people pronounce "Xerxes" the first time they see it. I don't know what my dad was thinking; mom wanted to name me Mike. My poor sister got the worse of it, so we just call her Sis. In case you're wondering, I pronounce my name "KSERK-seez" not "Zerk-seez" and I never go by "Zerk" like some Xerxeses do (I actually know one other, but he's really Persian, or at least Iranian). Boy these Forums are fun! And the people here are a blast, and mostly nice and interesting too!
