Amy--I can't imagine being that organized!!! I buy 3-4 things of meat/week. Then, it's a daily decision on what to fix for dinner.

Dh and I actually went on a date for our anniversary! We drove over to the community where we first lived. We found a resteraunt where we had eaten once before. It's much more upscale than it used to be, and we both got nice sandwiches. From there, we walked the old neighborhood, going by both apartments we had lived in. Downtown had changed the most, becoming much more upscale. But, the neighborhoods were still the same. We must have walked for a good hour and a half. We were back home by 8:30 because we were both tired!

We got home and found the house still standing! I had fixed the kids biscuit pizza. The kitchen was clean--dishes in the dishwasher and someone had done zamboni. Although, pots&pans forgot to wash the pizza pan. The kids were either on the computer or watching tv. Ah... so nice to come home and not find chaos!!!

THANKS EZ! That's what I figured! I'm going to go order them then!!!

You know, every so often it seems like nearly all of us get hit in some way or another. This is one of those times. Everyone is sick, or having family problems, or military problems, or all of the above. I think we all need to pray. I think the enemy is after us and our kids
I agree with you Jen!! I'm going to be lifting all of us up in prayer!!

I'm coming down with a cold/sinus infection or it's allergy related. My voice is hoarse & I'm having drainage & headaches. We're getting through, but I'm in no mood to deal with the nitpicking that is going on right now!

Annie - praying for your brother!

ETA - I missed your post Hazel!! I'm not really that organized, it's just what I strive for & often fall WAY short! I make menus, but often switch around what we eat, because we don't have time to prepare what was on that day OR I just plain don't feel like making it!! Shopping twice a month is more necessity than organization. The base is about 20 miles away & with the price of gas, I can't afford to go up there more often than that. I pick in between stuff up at Wal-mart or get dh to get it after work. Glad you & your dh had a nice anniversary and the boys gave you the present of not killing each other or destroying the house while you were gone!

Hmm. You could ask Jody to get him some Granola bars to pack in his bag, those are easy enough to eat during the 5 minutes between classes. Or a piece of fruit or a half a sandwhich. We were allowed to eat in some of our classes, just depends on the teacher. I didn't have horridly strict ones that I can remember but I had a relatively good high school experience.

The thing is, he gets his blood sugar issues from his dad, who never has taken care of himself. He will go all day without eating. I have worked hard all of Brandon's life to help him notice and take care of his body. If he is unwilling to do it now, it isn't for lack of ability or lack of insight.

It just really hurts a momma when a kid is hurting.

I'm sure the the father of the Prodigal son was hurting to see his son make unwise choices too. Sometimes it's going to take some hard knocks to knock some sense into someone who is being rebellious.

True.

Jody did have a chat with Brandon about his phone call the other night (where he asked to speak to me so he could tell me he didn't want to speak to me). I don't know what he said to him, but he made it clear it was inappropriate behavior.

I don't want to be a grown-up today.

Praying for everybody. It does seem that we all get hit at once, doesn't it?

My hit this week is brakes on the truck - it's prob'ly gonna be expensive but I need the truck. I still have a whole bunch of fencing to pick up, and one of my friends is having a 40th birthday party next week to which we've all been invited. I don't wanna have to decide who can go and who can't. The truck is the only vehicle that can hold all of us.

It is rainy and cool today - perfect weather for curling up in bed with a good book. Too bad I have so much to do.

Cindy--hang in there! We had rain overnight. Now it's bright and sunny! Okay, that won't help the truck, but at least when it's sunny things don't seem as bad.

All right, I have showered and dressed and picked up from breakfast and am ready to be a grown up for at least a little while.

Judy, chocolate doesn't sound good today, but you are welcome to enjoy some. I have these Dove bars that I bought that I really don't love-do you want hazelnut or blueberry/almond?

Sure does...tomorrow is my birthday. And for my birthday, we got the plumbing leak in the front yard fixed. Woo hoo . At least I have a cake mix in the pantry I can fix for myself.

I agree that a lot of what is happening is spiritual attack. On God's calendar, we are now in the month of Tishrei. The 1st of Tishrei (today) is Yom Teruah-Day of Trumpets. It is a day of remembrance and of blowing shofars to call people to repentance and a closer walk with God.

Today also starts "the ten days of awe"-the most important days of repentance and soul searching before we get to the Day of Atonement-Yom Kippur.

And this coming Friday night shabbat is known as the "shabbat of repentance." We know the enemy does not like it when people are trying to get closer to God.

On a kind of funny note, our neighbor girl, C, and Mr. Manly were doing flashcards together in a race. Mr. Manly is a tiny bit behind C and usually wins one out of three contests. He was determined to win and was shouting out the answers really fast. C would take a breath to give the answer and was too late. After a few of these breaths, she started to hyperventalate and I had to stop the game, calm her down and do something else instead. Mr. Manly was very annoyed and could not understand why we couldn't just get back to the game now that C was breathing fine. He was way ahead of her and thought it terribly unfair that he could completely clean her clock.

cynthia,

Tell me again that what was right for our daughter (to remove a boy from her life that was encouraging her to be rebellious and irresponsible) was right for everyone involved. I could use hearing that again.

Does anyone have any suggestions, lessons plans, object lessons on brothers and sisters being nice to each other? We are having issues, mostly behind my back. I do not want to make writing Bible verses a punishment, and cannot think of anything else to do.
So much of it is "no fault" stuff - he annoys her, she corrects him, he says she is being mean, she says he is being annoying, on and on...
HELP!

misaham--couple of scriptures come to mind. "How good and wonderful it is when brothers live together in unity" and "Let no unwholesome words come out of your mouth but only those that are pleasing to those who hear them". The second one I focused on "those who hear them". ie noone wants to hear bickering!!! Of course those are loose translations and I haven't a clue where they are.

I'm canning my last batch of tomatoes. There were more than I thought! I'll leave the tomato plants in for about another week or so, then I need to pull them so I can stack firewood there. We had fewer plants this year but I think we had a better crop!

I have a bone bruise on my ankle! Sunday I dropped some food and in an attempt keep the dog from getting it, I kicked him in the head. I caught him with the boney thing on the inside of my left ankle. I've had two so-so runs on it since. At first I thought it was due to my 20mile run on Saturday. This morning I put two and two together... My marathon is a little less than three weeks away. This is exactly when I got the stress fracture in my foot before my last marathon. The one I couldn't do. Needless to say, I'm a bit stressed!!!

Did that answer you?

You are still responsible for your daughter. I suggest that you pray to get to the root of what is causing her to pine after this unhealthy relationship and then pray to demolish the stronghold. There is some kind of spiritual bondage here that needs to be broken. She does not want to be a fool, like the dog that returns to his vomit.
Proverbs 26:11 Like a dog that returns to its vomit is a fool who repeats his folly.

You are a good mother, who is intimately aquainted with your daughter. You want what is best for her and take your responsibility seriously. I would ask her if something happened between them that should not have. If they became physically or sexually inappropriate, that would explain her unhealthy attachment. Hopefully that is not it, but you really do need to pray and hopefully with her to get to the bottom of this, so she can take it through the steps of repentence.
Scriptural steps: Admit and confess, give to the Lord, renounce/reject, ask for the Lord to fill that empty place.

I found it! Ephesians 4:29
(NAS) "Let no unwholesome word proceed from your mouth, but only such a word as is good for edification according to the need of the moment, so that it will give grace to those who hear."
(NIV) "Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen."
Thanks!
