I don't know anymore, I just heard her talk and it was total amateur hour.

Especially since she cribbed Hillary's lines, this seems like a really shallow play for Hillary's voters.

This could be the most genius move ever, but I also think this could blow up in McCain's face.

Especially since the sum total of her experience is city politics and 2 years as governor, which will nullify McCain's attacks against Obama's lack of experience.

The more I know about her, the more bizarre the choice seems to me.

We must not have been listening to the same speech. She was eleoquent and talked of core conservative values in a totally unpretentious and genuine way.

The CNN female reporter actually stuttered all the way through her analysis and another called her Little Sara Palin! No bias there

McCain/Palin 2008!!!

I'm willing to give Palin the benefit of her having delivered an introductory, this-is-who-I am speech, but I'm wondering how she'd hold up in a debate on hard international issues versus Biden.

I'll have to see Palin in further speeches to get a vibe on that, but my initial feeling that she'd be in way over her head.

The advantage against Biden, is his style is attack dog - and attack dog would work well against Romney and Pawlenty, but soccer mom's aren't going to like attack dog against Palin.

I think the Obama response was awkward, but no more than McCain's as unprepared reply to Obama's speech in Denver last night.

And possibly the rest of the Native American vote.

I was planning on voting for McCain anyway... but count this native american female's vote as much more enthusiastic than before!! I think this pick was absolutely brilliant! I can't wait for the VP debate now!

Did ya'll get some sort of leftist memo? Every forum board online has it's resident leftists parroting this line almost to a tee. Of course, up until this morning, no leftist in the country would even admit a experience issue existed for the One and his 140 day track record in Congress.

Jack, that's just it.

Biden doesn't need to go all-attack dog on Sarah Palin in a debate. He just needs to talk about what he knows.

I'm also unconvinced that picking Sarah Palin notches anything for McCain; when Mondale tapped Geraldine Ferraro in '84 there was a ton of hub-bub, but translated to zero advantage for Mondale on Election Day.

He got steamrolled.

I had said McCain had to hit a home run with his veep choice. This one certainly looks well-hit to right center.

Did you see her entrance/ intro with the hubby and five kids by their side?

I did. It was quite electrifying. But her husband looked pretty uncomfortable with the whole thing, lol

She just has to hold her own - and emphasis the fact that unlike Biden, she has been an executive and commandeer-and-chief.

Certainly a very interesting choice. I am definitely looking forward to seeing how she fares in a direct debate with Biden. From what little I've read about her, she's fairly tough herself, so if Biden does go "attack dog" on her, she'll either stand up to it, or show that she's not ready. If soccer moms feel sorry for her that she can't stand up to Biden, then to bad, politics is a rough game.

Interesting balance between the two sides, one relative newbie, one insider. I do agree this might undercut McCain's criticism of Obama's experience.

Two questions for y'all:
1. Does anyone have a link to Obama's response?

2. If her husband wasn't a SAH parent, would you still be okay with a conservative Christian woman working outside the home?

You call being head of the Alaskan National Guard for two years being a CIC?

The level of experience that Biden has over Palin in national and international affairs is towering.

I remember the Lazio/Hillary debate, Biden will lose his temper, guaranteed. It's not like we haven't all seen him do it under less stress. Even channeling Neil Kinnock won't stop that.

The funny thing is I have heard people criticize Bush's experience because he was only a governor from Texas.

Apparently one has to be governor of Georgia or Arkansas to be in the big leagues with these guys.

Because via the Texas state constitution, the governor's office enjoys very limited powers versus governors in other states. It's really little more than a figurehead position (which is an argument we've had before).

But despite this, at least Bush was governor for more than one term before trying a leap for the national stage.

I'm not bashing Sarah Palin here.

It's just that the more I consider her as McCain's running mate, the more impractical it seems from a politically strategic POV.

What do you think Palin will do if he does lose his temper?
Lazio got in Hillary's space which really blew it for him. She got all the sympathy for that stunt.

Palin, being the athlete and outdoorswoman that she is, might just deck Biden... giving him all the wuss sympathy votes.

I only bring it up because MCCain has been hammering and hammering away on the issue of experience, and for months has been attempting to create a narrative that defines Obama as unready to lead, yet now his VP choice undermines all of that and he won't be able to pursue that talking point as easily.

It's significant because it suggest that McCain will be changing his campaign strategy. If you listened to his introductory speech, it was all about change and going against the status quo. So it seems like they are cribbing ideas from the dems now.

Right now Palin just reeks of stunt casting to me. I admit, however, that I don't know her that well, but once the excitement wears off she's going to have to step up and prove her readiness and qualifications.

That was an unbelievably stupid move on his part. But I doubt Biden's gonna hulk-out on Palin during a debate.

Since wisdom would dictate that a presidential candidate should choose a V.P. he believes can step in should something happen to him, I wonder how many of the conservatives who are now swooning over Sarah believe she's ready to step into the role of President.
