I didn't think Woody Allen is a practicing Jew, but I could be wrong. I'm pretty sure he is nominally Jewish, but agnostic by belief. Though he has explored the impact of a belief in God and morality in a number of his movies, much better than many directors I think.

What is your purpose? If God just blessed us in such ways would we believe in Him all the more? I do not marvel at their riches as we all know that it is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God. By all means we can all have such riches but would we then be so willing to forsake it all and follow Chirst? No wonder the poor praise God for the rich cannot buy what God is offering. Actually God says He knows how to preserve the wicked in their ways unto judgment and to do that they need only have too much money. In anycase if these people will not praise God for their God given abilities then I will on their behalf.

I still question some of the stuff on there. Sometimes you get people putting stuff on that site just to be dorks, either as a dumb joke or because they don't like someone.

Thessa You do need to site your source, as it's a TOS 8 violation to post someone else's material without a link.

Upon reading scripture today something came across to me. Instead of viewing this as "scary", (and this may sound underhanded), we should rejoice in this. Christ spoke much about persecution, just as he was persecuted. If everyone embraced the Gospels, than much of what the Gospels say wouldn't be very valid.

it's important to note, too, after looking at that list - while many of those people are (or were) atheistic/agnostic (I equate the two), there are more than a few that could be termed anti-theist.

The website Thessa is quoting from is here. Ones that I find most upsetting are Albert Einstein, Bill Nye, and Carl Sagan. No amount of intelligence can grant you the complete understanding of an existing God, apparently. God is not strictly about notions to prove His existence, it's merely based on faith. Through faith, evidence eventually comes, but not the kind agnostics seek. Nobody, celebrity or not, can disprove a superior deity. It is pointless for them to argue against it. Not even Einstein, a genius, disproved the existence of God. At least Bill Nye was honest. When asked, "Do you believe in God?", he responded, "You really can't know."

Regardless of the veracity of the list; I ask myself: What is scariest, a person who declares he is atheist/agnostic, or a person who says he is a Christian and doesn't behave as such?

2 Peter 2:21 It would have been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than to have known it and then to turn their backs on the sacred command that was passed on to them.

Its better to be an athiest and know it...than to think you are a christian and not be one. My pastor and his wife were in the entertainment business...him as an actor and she as a model and talent agent. They know some wealthy celebrities...and most of them are...miserable. I think one reason why our church is growing so much is because of the many wealthy poeople who live in the area. Many of the people who go to my church are wealthy.

ORIGINAL: IMA_CHRISTIAN i heard an excellent sermon by Paul Washer, who says that those "rich" people could be given wealth as a curse. And thats all their reward they are getting. I will have to find the Scriptures to back this up... Could they have been these? . . . so that they may be honored by men. Truly I say to you, they have their reward in full. Mt:6:2 context is almsgiving . . . so that they may be seen by men. Truly I say to you, they have their reward in full. Mt 6:5 context is public praying . . . so that they will be noticed by men … Truly I say to you, they have their reward in full. Mt 6:16 context is fasting Folklore has many tales based in the idea that someone sold their soul to the devil in exchange for fame and fortune, (and then usually tries to outwit him). I think there more than is a kernel of truth hidden in the fiction. We see Esau selling his birthright for a bowl of pottage in Genesis 25. Surely an Emmy or Oscar is going to have less value than a whole pallet of lentil stew once you are living in a place where gold is used for paving material. For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? Mark 8:36

Pray for them, remember God can do far more than we can ask or even imagine.
