Well let me tell you that it is refreshing to see all the compassion on this board

With millions of people being displaced from their homes not knowing whether or not they will have a home to return to, wondering whether the levies will hold in LA this time, the possibility of untold numbers of death, it's really nice to see that all everyone is concerned about is
A-McCain is just a heartless pig because he went to Mississippi
B-Hurry, Bush won't be able to speak at the convention
C-Golly, do you think this will interrupt the convention

I'm really starting to get tired of all this from a board that is supposedly Christian.

May God help us all!

WEll join the party, are you looking for compassion from the wrong people?

If your here looking for it, you are!

On here I have made it a game to look for people that are not Right wing Republicans, not racist, and have some common sense.

You can imagine how many I found, right? And none of them come to CE.

He's taking advantage of the situation for political maneuvering. It's very evident. Do you remember him grandstanding for Katrina? Where was he then if he cared so much? Where was his "American hat".

Please, it's showboating plain and simple.

He's a politician, it's what they do.

I assure you, if the politicians really cared what the American people thought, our country would be in a whole heck of a lot better shape than it is now.

They would have listened.

I do feel there is some political maneuvering going on, he has to show that he is not going to respond like Bush did. I know a lot people on here think bush is the greatest but even his wife admits mistakes were made from the federal level also.

Oh, give me a break, the RNC has canceled virtually all of it's activities today because the focus of the nation is, and should be, on Gustav and whatever damage it may do to the Gulf Coast.

And last time I checked, nobody "grandstanded" (sp?) during Katrina or any other storm to hit the US.

Did anybody see the protestors? 8000 compared to what 200 at the DNC?

I personally hope the nomination of Sarah Palin goes thru, so he is stuck with her.

Shes turning out to be something.

From what I saw on television last week there were definitely more than 200 protesters at the DNC.

Do have a link with the actual numbers?

Fred Thompson and Joe Lieberman are scheduled to speak tonight, Palin is scheduled for tomorrow.

I wonder how Lieberman will be accepted tonight?

Regardless they were treated like prisoners

I have faith that the demon strators at the RNC will be treated more humanely don't you think? I have a feeling they will get plenty of press coverage too!

There were more than 200 at the DNC (I think the arrests might have been 300).

But, it sounds like there have been larger protests at the RNC. The one that I have been reading about was 10,000 peaceable protest marchers. They have also managed to arrest a number of journalists and confiscated/erased electronic media recordings.

The Iraq war and related issues.

I hope they have someone like Zell Miller to speak there.
He was awesome in 2004. Sadly, he left the Senate.

The most exciting thing so far is the possibility of the hurricane Gustav putting off the beginning of the RNC Convention.

The winds are presently down to 115 MPH which is just an afternoon breeze here in Oklahoma; so maybe it will not interfere with the greatest show on earth.

Go Go Gov. Palin; a Spirit filled, tongue talking, gun totin', moose huntin', pro-life conservative.

Thanks
RC

Does Gov. Palin really speak in tongues? That is quite interesting.

I do plan to listen intently to Palin's and McCain's speeches.

Do you (or anyone) know what time? According to the TV listings I'm looking at, our PBS station is carrying the convention live 8-11 EST. Do you think that'll cover it? I have to be somewhere, and I want to record it because I really want to hear her.

No - they were protesting the fact that they dont want another Republican in the office. Just like at the DNC - they were protesting the fact they didnt want a Demorat in office.

They're supposed to talk during Prime Time, which is considered the time when most media will pick up coverage. I believe that is from 10-11pm EST.

Does anyone have, or has anyone seen, an actual schedule? I know a lot of things were changing up to the very last minute, and I don't expect them to run exactly on time necessarily. But I don't want to sit through all the pundits droning on, and speakers I don't care about. But I want to hear what Lieberman and a few others have to say.

Fred Thompson is speaking right now, Lieberman will be up next.

Watch C-SPAN if you can, they just show the speakers with no commentary. I leave the punditry till I turn on the radio the next day.
