I didn't watch his speech. Caught Lindsay Graham's speech...that man was creepy. I sense a future scandal. And then there was Cindy McCain's speech. That's when I got angry and turned off the television. I'm glad to not have any affiliation with any party. Boy, what a bunch of letdowns these people have turned out to be. Speaking about everyone involved in this election.

Haha, Thessa. I think it was the rhetoric that drove me crazy. I'm sure I would have stuck around to watch it if I wasn't alone. Then I could have at least had someone to crack some jokes to. I also don't really take very much in life seriously. Maybe that's it. Or pointless untruthful rhetoric drives me nuts.
I stand by Lindsay Graham's creepiness. I live in South Carolina too, that's a little depressing.

Are you sure? 'Cuz I read his autobio and don't remember anything about this. Are you thinking of James Robinson?
Whoops! Main point is still referring back to ALL life regardless of the circumstance by which it came is still precious. How many greats have been lost because of choice?

In the same place everyone else at the RNC convention was: in denial that the prior eight years ever existed.
As for McCain's speech (I didn't watch any others last night), I found it sleepy and Spartan on details - especially regarding the "E-Word" (economy). But I was touched by his first-hand account of life in the Hanoi Hilton.
All politics aside, John McCain is an American hero.

John McCain is not the speaker Barack Obama is, or even Bill Clinton, but overall, the RNC was a major step up from the DOA snoozefest that was the Democratic Convention a week earlier.
Not that that is saying much, but....

IMO, Obama's speech in Denver was very strong, and included lots of policy details - plus, he did something that McCain failed to last night: Obama did not allow his running mate to overshadow him.
Palin was the star of the RNC convention this week, not McCain. He almost felt like an afterthought after her time in the spotlight.

It is rather strange for a running mate to have more exposure than the presidential candidate himself.
I wonder why that is in Mcains case.

No, it's because McCain's plan to pick a younger, energetic go-getter of a running mate is working too well.
I think the stark difference between the energy levels of McCain and Palin is actually drawing attention to the former's age too.
Side by side, Palin looks like a supersonic jet, and McCain an old B17 bomber.

c'mon, doesn't McCain even rate a jet in the analogy? After all he flew one.
How about Palin to a F-35 as McCain to F4?
One is tactical and stealthy, the other loud & thunderous but can take a lot of punishment and still keep flying.

Forgive me for jumping in here, I'm an old man and new to this chat process.
I suggest we all pray in ernest for this election and for American to turn back to God, Jesus, and the Bible. I also pray for McCain, Palin and the voters to have wisdom. 
In light of my understanding of the Holy Bible and it's teachings I can't and won't vote for Obama because he supports same sex marriage and he is pro choice.
My wife and I just finished reading the Bible front to back for the second time and we are working on the third time. Wish I would have read it more in my younger years! If any of you have never read the entire Bible please do so, it will not return void.

I dont know, but if he did that even makes him even smarter. Unlike Obama he dosent just think of himself. He gives credit where credit is due. And he knows he cant do it all by himself. I will be glad to cast my vote for a man like that.

Joe Lieberman and his former Senate colleague Fred Thompson both made misleading claims about Obama in their prime time GOP convention speeches on Tuesday. We've heard two of them before – many times.
Lieberman said Obama hadn't "reached across party lines" to accomplish "anything significant," though Obama has teamed with GOP Sens. Tom Coburn and Richard Lugar to pass laws enhancing government transparency and curtailing the proliferation of nuclear and conventional weapons.
Thompson repeated misleading claims about Obama's tax program, saying it would bring "one of the largest tax increases in American history." But as increases go, Obama's package is hardly a history-maker. It would raise taxes for families with incomes above $250,000. Most people would see a cut.
Lieberman also accused Obama of "voting to cut off funding for our American troops on the battlefield." But Obama's only vote against a war-funding bill came after Bush vetoed a version of the bill Obama had supported – and McCain urged the veto. "

Palin trips up on her facts, and Giuliani and Huckabee have their own stumbles on Night 3 of the Republican confab. Summary Sarah Palin’s much-awaited speech at the Republican National Convention on Wednesday night may have shown she could play the role of attack dog, but it also showed her to be short on facts when it came to touting her own record and going after Obama’s.
We found Rudy Giuliani, who introduced her, to be as factually challenged as he sometimes was back when he was in the race. But Mike Huckabee may have laid the biggest egg of all.
Palin may have said “Thanks, but no thanks” on the Bridge to Nowhere, though not until Congress had pretty much killed it already. But that was a sharp turnaround from the position she took during her gubernatorial campaign, and the town where she was mayor received lots of earmarks during her tenure.
Palin’s accusation that Obama hasn’t authored “a single major law or even a reform” in the U.S. Senate or the Illinois Senate is simply not a fair assessment. Obama has helped push through major ethics reforms in both bodies, for example.
The Alaska governor avoided some of McCain’s false claims about Obama’s tax program – but her attacks still failed to give the whole story.
Giuliani distorted the time line and substance of Obama’s statements about the conflict between Russia and Georgia. In fact, there was much less difference between his statements and those of McCain than Giuliani would have had us believe. Giuliani also said McCain had been a fighter pilot. Actually, McCain’s plane was the A-4 Skyhawk, a small bomber. It was the only plane he trained in or flew in combat, according to McCain’s own memoir.
Finally, Huckabee told conventioneers and TV viewers that Palin got more votes when she ran for mayor of Wasilla than Biden did running for president. Not even close. The tally: Biden, 79,754, despite withdrawing from the race after the Iowa caucuses. Palin, 909 in her 1999 race, 651 in 1996."

Actually, it's kind of sad that a presidential candidate has to ride on the coat tails of his vp to increase his vote count.
It's only swayed in his favor because of her. What's really sad is that the voters are swinging their favor in his direction because of her, not even realizing that she won't have much say so on how the gov is run when he gets into office. It's kind of dumb to put so much emphasis on someone who won't have that control.

Seems everyone keeps talking about how "old" McCain is and we should be worried about him dying in office. So, who would have control then? I have every confidence in her if she were to become Commander in Chief and I certainly want to vote for someone that has a capable running mate.
So, it's really not that dumb.
