I'd say - I'm a sucker for a good speech, even from someone I don't agree with - but Hil did nuthin' for me.

For me she's just a pain to listen to....it's so hard to get past that grating voice of hers. It was a real chore to pay attention for a fuill half hour tonight!

^^^^^Squawk, squawk, squawk^^^^^

I think Michelle Obama is Barack's secret weapon - she silenced everyone with her eloquence, yet unassuming way - she was brilliant. To attack Obama as having no morals is obviously untrue and ridiculous. And I loved how there were no attacks on the GOP the first night.

Democrats are criticized for not being as negative as Republicans, which I'm actually happy about. However, tonight, I think they bit back and I think all thoughts about the Democrats being divided are now history. I think Hillary took care of that VERY well

Peace and God bless,

I thought Hilary's speech was amazing.

People always talk about what a great speaker Obama is, and he's good, but I've always thought Hilary was better.

There wasn't a single misstep and she hit all the right notes. I don't even think she used a teleprompter, and it seemed to me like she had the whole thing memorized (I've said it before, but she's like some sort of inhuman political machine -i.e. the "bionic politician").

I thought the Harriet Tubman lines she quoted were genius, especially within the context she used them, i.e. in passing the torch from her own campaign to Obama's.

Was it hyperbolic? Perhaps. But that's what makes a good speech. I'm as cynical person you'd ever meet, but when I heard that I totally wanted to rush outside in my pajamas and start a political action committee. Which is the whole point of a good convention speech, it's supposed to get the blood boiling.

She had a few other good lines too -the Bush/McCain Twin Cities crack, and the "sisterhood of the traveling paint-suits" line.

Anyways, I don't think there's any doubt where her allegiances lie after this.

Her comments in which she asked those who voted for her whether they voted for he because of her name, or because of the issues she supported, and then suggested that the only way to further the issues she campaigned on is by voting for Barack Obama, I think was a very effective way of pushing her supporters towards Obama.

She did everything she needed to do in terms of uniting the party and going on the attack against McCain.

The only danger, I think, is the possibility that her speech might upstage Obama's on Thursday, but we'll see.

Anyways, I admit that I've always been an unabashed Hilary fanboy, so please excuse the gushing adoration for just this one post.

I promise I'll be back to my usual cynical self in no time.

Agreed 100% and well said!!!!

Peace and God bless,

It was one of Clinton's better speeches...

...and I think she challenged her die hard supporters:

I'll admit, I laughed at the Twin Cities comment but I about gagged at the sisterhood comment.

I disagree with this for the very reason you state:

I believe this was intentional. I agree that she can be a better speaker than NObama and she was over the top tonight. But I believe all that did was rally her supporters making them wish all the harder that she won the nomination.

Add to that the fact that there won't be a roll call now, at least not a public one and her supporters are angry.

Then there is always Bill's statement. I can't currently find a link to the text but I saw the video. It was where he was talking about a "hypothetical" situation where one candidate shares 100% of your positions but you don't believe he will be able to get any of them done and another candidate shares 50% of your positions but you think he can get 100% of those accomplished.

Not that it had anything to do with this election, he added.

I believe that they are still trying to sabotage NObama so Hillary can run in 2012.

I don't know if this is true or not but I just heard that NObama is going to have the stage at the stadium where he is to give his speach setup to look like the White House with the white columns and everything.

I liked this one. "Let's just get everybody together. Let's get unified, the sky will open, the light will come down, celestial choirs will be singing and everyone will know that the world is perfect (when BO wins the nomination."

After mocking him, she then accused him of lying, an odd accusation coming from a Clinton. "Shame on you, Barack Obama. It is time you ran a campaign consistent with your messages in public."

Your savior is here.

And then she pointed out that he isn't qualified. "The choice you make is really critical. I want you to think who you want to have in the White House answering the phone at 3 o’clock in the morning when some crisis breaks out somewhere around the world.”

Bill, get back where you belong. It isn't Lewinsky!!!

it is funny to see James Carville rip the DNC because they are avoiding attacking the GOP...

which i think the DNC will begin tonight.

but what is even more hilarious is how things will be said by the DNC, but specifics are never spelled out for the people (and honestly, both sides need to do this more)...

if you say you have a plan, then i want to hear your plan.

I can't wait to hear what ol' Bill has to say. Here is the comment I spoke of above:

"Suppose you're a voter, and you've got candidate X and candidate Y,” Bill Clinton said Tuesday at a Democratic event in Denver that featured his first public remarks since his wife Hillary Clinton was officially informed she would not be vice president.

“Candidate X agrees with you on everything, but you don't think that candidate can deliver on anything at all. Candidate Y you agree with on about half the issues, but he can deliver. Which candidate are you going to vote for?" he asked – adding, after a pause: "This has nothing to do with what's going on now."

Clinton: Would you vote for a candidate who can’t ‘deliver’?

Okay, this is scary.

Steve Ducey from Fox and Friends has had his son doing some side work for them. Well they just showed a report where he went out on the streets in Denver with a piece of paper with 5 photos printed on it.

The Five were Nancy Pelosi, Joe Biden, Howard Dean, Harry Reid, and Dick Cheney.

He walked around asking people if they could name any of the people shown. It was amazing how many people couldn't name a single one of them.

I'm sure you could do the same at the Republican convention with the same results.

It's scary to thing about how many people will vote this election and not have a clue who or what they are voting for.

Of course nobody has a clue!

Conservative talk show hosts such sa Neal Boortz have said that they were told early on not to expect ANY cooperation from the DNC with regard to guests.

This amazes me. Barack has lambasted Sean Hannity for "not saying things to his face", yet refuses every invitation to come on his show.

Barack is on video promising an interview to Bill O'Reilly.....and we're still waiting.

We have a man who is trying to get elected leader of the free world, someone who will no doubt have to go toe to toe with some extremely formidable adversaries....and he's afraid of sitting down for an on camera chat with a conservative radio host?

As much as I dislike EVERYTHING that Hillary Clinton stands for, at least she had the stones to go on The O'Reilly Factor (of course it was too little too late, but she went)...

...just curious. How many of you watch the convention on CSPAN....or some network where some over-paid "political analyst" tells you how to interpret what you just heard?

Well, I noticed that most "analysts" on MSNBC adored Hillary's speech, and most on Fox couldn't wait to tear it down.

As for me, I felt it was very strong.

It was a good speech for Hillary.....it no doubt made everyone in the arena wonder what on earth Obama was thinking in picking Joe "9,000 votes in the primary" Biden.

Of course you have to wonder how John McCain has crept upward to a slight lead in the polls during Obama's convention....

I have no respect for Hillary, but i will gladly give her props for being a team player (for a team i don't like even), at least she isn't an uber-sore loserman...

( i still have my sore loserman t-shirt )

Think about it...If people actually did have a clue, do you think we would have ended up with the current nominees?

It was a very good speech, but I agree with the FNC folks that it was not a ringing endorsement of Obama. A strong endorsement of the democratich party the need for the democratic platform to become the law of the land, etc. She never said that Obama was qualified to be president, much less that he was the best choice.

Again the speech was good, and she laid the foundation for her next run really well.

But a hip hip hoooray for Obama speech it was not.

Thanks
RC

I didn't hear the speech, but I understand she said she was a "proud...

Mother
Democrat
American
Supporter of Barack Obama"

Anyone else notice what's missing in there?

I watch it on FNC, but I think I'm intelligent enough to form my own opinion. They do point out some things that I had not caught because I'm not sitting here taking notes during the speech.

I am not a hillary supporter, but I must admit I was SO IMPRESSED with her speech. To know me would tell you how SHOCKING that is.

It did make me wonder why Obama is the nominee and not her. (I also questioned why she isn't the VP nominee.)

Many news reporters are saying it's because of her husband! I'd be likely to agree with that.

I would agree too. How could Obama and Hillary get anything done with Bill always lurking in the background?

quote:

Barack has lambasted Sean Hannity for "not saying things to his face", yet refuses every invitation to come on his show.

Maybe it has something to do with Hannity being a partisan hack, and self-described "leader of the Stop Obama Express."
