Here a dork (dorcas) is a ugly word to call anyone. But it must be American slang. A dork is a whale's penis. I try very hard never to call anyone that name!

Right or wrong, Hunter, Rachel, and Jackson will tend to do better in school and have more opportunities than will Precious, Treyshawn, and Placenta (yes, that's an actual name). Please don't take offense if you or one of your children has one of these names - I'm simply trying to make a point. Again, I'm not saying it's right, but if you want your child to be successful, you really do have to give them a name that's considered "normal" to most people. In a lot of cultures, those are normal names (except for Placenta...that's just dumb). In many African cultures, names such as Precious are considered normal. My daughter Akeelah will do just as well in school as everyone elses Hunter, Rachel and Jackson and be just as successful (or more ) Sorry but the statement of what is considered "normal" to most people bugs me. I have many family members with "abnormal" names according to you who are doing just fine in life.

I would not "mispell" a name to make it more unique. The child will never find a personalized keychain. "Soozane" "Kristle" etc.

Or personalized pencils for that matter. My aunt one time gave me pens with my name - first and last on them for Christmas. That was a cool gift.

Dorcas is a wonderful name, tho I'd never name a girl Dorcas. Dorcas, in the Bible, was a lovely woman who was loved by all because of her giving manner and servant's heart. Acts 9:36 At Joppa there was a certain disciple named Tabitha, which is translated Dorcas. This woman was full of good works and charitable deeds which she did. 37 But it happened in those days that she became sick and died. When they had washed her, they laid her in an upper room. 38 And since Lydda was near Joppa, and the disciples had heard that Peter was there, they sent two men to him, imploring him not to delay in coming to them. 39 Then Peter arose and went with them. When he had come, they brought him to the upper room. And all the widows stood by him weeping, showing the tunics and garments which Dorcas had made while she was with them. 40 But Peter put them all out, and knelt down and prayed. And turning to the body he said, "Tabitha, arise." And she opened her eyes, and when she saw Peter she sat up. 41 Then he gave her his hand and lifted her up; and when he had called the saints and widows, he presented her alive. 42 And it became known throughout all Joppa, and many believed on the Lord. 43 So it was that he stayed many days in Joppa with Simon, a tanner.

I knew an elderly lady named Dorcas. Tabitha was very popular about 16 years ago, although I don't think it was because of the Bible.

As far as Biblical names, Bette Davis was the lead character in "Jezebel" If you have triplet boys, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abindnigo are available. Keep them away from the furnace, however.

I have a pretty unusual name for my generation (I hear "oh that's my grandmother's name" a lot...in fact even from Ellie)but I still sometimes find things with it on it. It's more special when I do. Everyone has Kathy or Robert.
