I like Kona but Amaretto is my favorite coffee.
I haven't read Mary Shelley but I do love Jane Austen and Edith Wharton.
I have never played chess.
I love the old Black and White movies of the 30s and 40s. Bette Davis, Norma Shearer, Joan Crawford, etc. One of my favorites from the era is The Women. I've heard that is a remake now too, with Meg Ryan among others.
I love Celtic music and my favorite album, of any I own, is Celtic Voices:Women of Song.

One of my favorite old movies is "Now, Voyager" With Bette Davis. Even if you don't like Davis, you may like this movie.
Mousy spinster with controlling mother turns into bombshell with married lover.

I have seen it, and you are right, it's very good. I just got around to watching Jezabel, for some reason I could never get into it but I do like it now.
I know she has a lot of classics but one of my favorites is one called The Old Maid. I still cry my eyes out at that movie.
I watch All About Eve every time it is on.
Sams had a boxed set of 9, I think, some of which I've never seen so I'm looking forward to it.

Have you ever seen Mr Skeffington? I enjoyed that very much. Loveless marriage to an older man, or he looked older anyway.
I could probably go on about the different movies of hers! Looking at the extensive list on IMDB I think I've only seen a third of them.

Has anyone else noticed that NASCAR is getting more like the World Wrestling Federation every day?

And how, exactly, does that fit in with the topic of culture?
I loved Phantom of the Opera and Les Miserables, though the strobe lights of one gave me the worst migraine I've ever had and I wound up at Emergency as a result.
David Copperfield--I managed to buy a very old, used set of the Complete Works of Charles Dickens and read through all of them. I love his characters and the descriptions of places and scenes.

I do too. PBS reran one of their concerts a few weeks ago.
I found a coffee at Starbucks that is very good. Guatamalan Reserve. Very smooth and low acid.

Norma Shearer and Joan Crawford had a bitter rivalry, and did not get along at all during filming.
Of course, it paled by comparison to Crawford and Davis. 
Seems Miss Crawford could not get along with anyone, but adored her fans and would by her fan club members gifts.
If you see Hush, Hush, Sweet Charlotte, you get to see aging Hollywood at it's best.
Bette Davis, Mary Astor, Olivia de Haviland, Joseph Cotton, and Agnes Moorehead. Moorehead and Cotton were also in the Mercury Theatre radio productions together.

I have a chess board. Its beautiful. I don't have pieces to play on it though. Its wooden and has 2 different woods to variety for the colors. I've had it for forever.
