In and of itself, I think a vivid imagination is very helpful in life. How many times to we see someone's idea, thats inovative and think "wow, I wish I could think like that". Without vivid imaginations, there would be no novels, or at least not any good ones. I mean even in Christian literature, there are some great novels, that are entertaining and very imaginative. I mean look at the "Left Behind" series. That is a Christian's vivid imagination at it's best. I mean you'd have to have a great imagination to come up with that storyline. (Not the basic endtimes story, but that characters and how their lives are affected)
