At a bar. Then they got married after mom got pregnant with my older sister, and dad ran away with another woman after me and my twin sister were born.[:'(]

My in-laws, on the other hand, met at church. They have been married to each other for 50plus years. All four of their children are in lasting marriages and are all serving the Lord. I met my dh in church, and his brothers met their wives at church. His little sister met her husband at Christian college.[:D]

My dad was stationed in Panama. My mom lived there and used to work nights in a hospital. One evening when she was catching the bus to come home, my father spotted her (actually he'd seen her before and thought she was cute, but didn't approach her). So, he figured this was his chance to get to know her, so he sat next to her and struck up a conversation. After a nice chat, she gave him her phone number. He called her a few times and then they started to date. He knew she was "the one" within weeks and at the end of three months he proposed. She accepted and within a year they were married and living here in the States.

My mom and dad love to talk about when they met (especially my dad). My dad always maintains that my mom was the only woman for him and that if he'd not met her, he would have remained single. I believe him. They've been married for 30+ years and still cuddle on the couch while they watch tv. It is so cute :) Yup - my parents are romantic like that.

Arresting bad guys.

My mother trained my dad to be an undercover store detective. His career didn't last, lol, but I got a dad out of the deal, and actually, my mother went on arresting people for more than a decade after all (and Dad went to the police academy).

They met at a drive-in movie. They met in June and were married 6 months later. 42 years this coming Christmas!

My Mom was a Candy Striper at a hospital and Dad was a patient.
He tells the story of seeing only the back of her flaming red hair and telling his room mate he was going to marry that woman.[:)]

That made me chuckle. I immediately thought of the "Are you being served?" episode with the undercover detective. [8D]

My parents met each other (and God!) in medical school.

At a local dance. Dad bet his first mate that he could take 'the little dutch girl home'. Nearly fifty years on I believe his best mate still owes him a case of beer.

My uncle's pharmacy that my dad worked at. My mum was shopping saw my dad and told her girlfriend, 'that's the man I'm going to marry'.

It was 37 years ago in May. [:)]

My aunt was dating my uncle. My dad was my uncle's friend. My grandmother MADE my mother go with my aunt on her dates because grandmother didn't trust aunt, but did trust my mom. So, it was kind of like a double date. My aunt, uncle, and mother left my grandparents house, went to visit my dad. My mom and dad dated for a while, got married, and have been married for 33 years now.

My grandparents have an even better, "How we met" story. My grandmother married young and divorced. The other man left her after their baby was stillborn. Grandmother went to the county fair one night, met my grandfather there, and they got married later that night. :) LOL I love to here my grandma tell that story....

In this state, you have to get a license and wait three days before you can marry.

They met when my mother babysat my cousin. My aunt had married, had a child and hubby left her (good thing, as he physically abused her). My aunt moved back home with her child. My dad and his younger sister were still at home, but I guess they needed a sitter. My mom is recommended by a mutual friend, and the rest is history.

My maternal grandparents were/are strict, conservative Catholics. Imagine their reaction when my mom brought a motorbike riding, long-haired, leather-wearing rascal home! It took my grandfather years to like my dad, but they are great friends now.[:)]

Lemme see, I'm 31, so in October my parents will celebrate 33 years of marriage.

No...they went to the preachers house and asked him to marry them. LOL
The licensing laws are different in my home state than in yours...and this was...YEARS ago. My grandfather has since passed on, and my grandmother is 84.

Some of these are so funny and cute. My parents met at Reed college in Portland Oregon.

Although they met at a common place, they met in an unusual way. My dad believed he could always tell who wore contact lenses (this was in their early days, when they were hard), so he was walking around campus, saw a girl whom he believed wore contact lenses. So, he walked up to her and asked if she did (she being mom). While he was not interested in her at that point, he was thrilled his theory worked.

My parents just met in the small town they grew up in. My mom and aunt were good friends so they knew each other. The story was, though, that she was at the county fair and was trying to get away from some guy that was bugging her and saw Dad and just kinda stuck with him to get the other guy to go away.

But the interesting part is how they got married. Dad was in VietNam and mom was back in Indiana. He got a few days of leave and they met in Hawaii and got married. She went back to Indiana and moved in with his family and waited for him to come home.

My parents were both members of a youth missions organization. They met because my dad was the cook's assistant and my mum came in and asked for an apple because she was too sick to eat the food that was served. He said no. [:D] They didn't meet each other again until a couple of years later.

My parents met on a blind date too. They were married 6 weeks later. She was strict Roman Catholic and he was Southern Baptist. None of my Moms side came to the wedding because it was in a S. Baptist church.[&:]
