Fine, I'll answer your questions, although I just did in my earlier post:

Do you go through life and the world blindfolded?

Of course not, as christians, true christians who trust in Christ, you go through life with the Word of God on your lips. God gave His word not because He nothing else to do, but to show us what He wants us to do and behave and what to do with thoughts. Being a christian means you trust God and His word. You can't figure out God by using your brain, you MUST use His word.

How can you even talk to a non-believer if you can't have anything but Ned Flander'esque thoughts?

So now the Word of God is Ned Flanders. We gave you VERSES as to what God wants you to do with thoughts. So, you can tell God that His word, which is a double edged sword and is powerful, is nothing more than Flander'esque. That's nice. When I talk to unbelievers I tell them about GOD and I give them those same verses that are 'flander'esque' AND, this is a good one, I trust in the Holy Spirit. Why? B/c His word is powerful, a double edged sword. I find it so appalling and amazing and horrifing that anyone would call God's word Flander'esque.

What about Christians that work in jobs that have them dealing with the worst of the worst? With horrific incidents and criminals?

You trust God to show you what to do with them. Believe it or not, Jesus did die for them and God puts them into your life for a purpose. YOu tell them the same word that you call Flander'esque, nonsensible and supersitious. You may want to rethink your opinions on God's word.

And so far no one that advocates that we're supposed to have only happy thoughts has addressed my simple questions.

Thoughts, negative or otherwise, will come to mind from time to time. It's natural. It's what our brains sometimes do.

We really shouldn't go around blaming the devil for negative thoughts and praising God for the happy positive ones. Neither of them is sitting out there distributing thoughts to see how we react to them !

It's what we do with these thoughts that matter. When we get negative thoughts we should turn to God in prayer and seek His help. We should welcome these negative thoughts as an opportunity which brings us closer to God, and not fear them and let them diminish us in His sight.

Dancre,

You completely misunderstood me. My problem is not with the Word of God that has been shared in this thread. My questions and issue are with those that seem to be pushing the idea that Christians are to never have any negative thoughts. That Christians are to live in some Utopian world where only Christians abide and no evil exists.

Those were my points - nothing more and nothing less. But thanks for trying/responding.

My apologies. I did misunderstand your post. Of course Christians have negative thoughts. I get them ALL the time. It's what we do with them that matters. Think of it as the Fed Ex man comes to your house and hands you a package. You know it's a bad package, full of nasties. So do you sign for it or not? By accepting the negative thought, ie. you're stupid, ugly, fat, you hate everyone, etc, you're basically signing for it. On the other hand, you can say, no, I'm the righteousness of God, I walk in love, etc. Sorry, Earthless. :)
