VisitorinWaiting -> Strange...but proven... (8/13/2008 9:31:36 AM)

time and time again. My 4 year old almost always wets his bed at night. Even when I wake him at different times in the night, he still wakes up wet. Well, one night, while I was staying with my daughter in the hospital, hubby gave him apple juice just an hour or so before bed time. He said that he thought to himself, "That was a big mistake," but it was done. The next morning, he woke up dry. Hubby seemed to think it was from the juice. I was thinking, "Yeah, whatever...you just lucked out, buddy." That was April. Since then, we have tried it...giving him water to drink before bed...he wets. Giving him any other kind of juicy drink before bed...he wets. Giving him milk...he wets. Give him juice...he doesn't wet. He just doesn't. I do not get it. I am not sure if there is anything to it or not, but every time that he has some kind of juice...grape, apple, crangrape, etc...just about an hour before bedtime, he will not wet his pants. Try the same think with any other "beverage," and you might as well count on getting up and changing him in the early morning hours.

Anyone else ever had something like this happen? Is there something out there about it already that I just did not know or hear about?

I've never heard of that, but WOW that's WONDERFUL for you! I had one son who struggled with bed-wetting till age 9. WhatEVER works, do it! [:D]

I have never heard of it either, I also had one bedwetter until 8 or 9... maybe longer, so I feel your pain [:D]! I think it's great that the juice works... whatever the reason.

I am pretty sure my pediatrician told me the exact opposite! But whatever works.

LOL. I know...everything that I have read says the exact opposite too. That's why when hubby thought his lack of bedwetting was due to the juice, I was soooo skeptical. I think this time really got me. He has wet his bed every night since we last gave him juice before bed. Last night, I just happened to have juice in the fridge, so I gave him some. He didn't wet his bed. He woke up, and when hubby asked him if he was wet, he said that he wasn't. I told hubby that he better check. He did...not wet. I looked at hubby and laughed and said, "He had juice last night." He said, "I told you so." LOL I'm like you all...whatever works...and this seems to...for him anyway.

when it comes to raising children, we dads are like a broken clock: even a broken clock is correct twice a day!

Just for clarification. I didn't tell hubby that I didn't believe him. And it's not that I don't trust his account and opinion on things... It's just that this seemed so far fetched, that I was skeptical... Even if it had been a woman in the family that told me what he told me, I would have still been skeptical...

Hillary, sometimes it takes their bladders time to get used to that nighttime routine. The best you can do is give him nothing two hours before bed and let him wear pullups or those disposable undies.

Mrs.X -> RE: Strange...but proven... (8/14/2008 11:10:31 AM)

Hillary, wow how strange. That's great though. I just wanted to ask if you're brushing his teeth after he has the juice? My teeth are rotting out of my head because I used to take juice to bed with me everynight for years not knowing that natural sugar could rot my teeth.
