[8|]1) LORD, lord, Lord, God, LORD God Is their significance to capitalization or non-capitalization in the bible when referring to God? For instance Genesis 18 Three Men Visit Abraham 1.The LORD appeared to Abraham near the large trees of Mamre. Abraham was sitting at the entrance to his tent. It was the hottest time of the day. 2.Abraham looked up and saw three men standing nearby. He quickly left the entrance to his tent to meet them. He bowed low to the ground. 3.He said, "My lord, if you are pleased with me, don't pass me [8|]2) Genesis 6 says God told Noah to take 2 of every animal - but then in Genesis 7 it says seven of every kind of clean animal.. and two of every unclean. why is it different? Genesis 7 1.The LORD then said to Noah, "Go into the ark, you and your whole family, because I have found you righteous in this generation. 2.Take with you seven of every kind of clean animal, a male and its mate, and two of every kind of unclean animal, a male and its mate, 3.and also seven of every kind of bird, male and female, to keep their various kinds alive throughout the earth. 4.Seven days from now I will send rain on the earth for forty days and forty nights, and I will wipe from the face of the earth every living creature I have made." [8|]3) In Genesis 18, Why is the conversation between Abraham and the LORD drawn out so eg. 50 - 45 - 40 - 20 - 10.. Why not just ask if he will spare righteous people? 25.Far be it from you to do such a thing--to kill the righteous with the wicked, treating the righteous and the wicked alike. Far be it from you! Will not the Judge of all the earth do right?" 26.The LORD said, "If I find fifty righteous people in the city of Sodom, I will spare the whole place for their sake." 27.Then Abraham spoke up again: "Now that I have been so bold as to speak to the Lord, though I am nothing but dust and ashes, 28.what if the number of the righteous is five less than fifty? Will you destroy the whole city because of five people?" "If I find forty-five there," he said, "I will not destroy it." 29.Once again he spoke to him, "What if only forty are found there?" He said, "For the sake of forty, I will not do it." 30.Then he said, "May the Lord not be angry, but let me speak. What if only thirty can be found there?" He answered, "I will not do it if I find thirty there." 31.Abraham said, "Now that I have been so bold as to speak to the Lord, what if only twenty can be found there?" He said, "For the sake of twenty, I will not destroy it." 32.Then he said, "May the Lord not be angry, but let me speak just once more. What if only ten can be found there?" He answered, "For the sake of ten, I will not destroy it." 33.When the LORD had finished speaking with Abraham, he left, and Abraham returned home. Thanks in advance for your help! I am reading the bible in a year from start to finish and really enjoying it!!
