DwB37 -> Longest Bible verse?? (8/10/2008 2:38:49 PM)

>>Just thought I would throw this out there for anyone who's interested.
Ran across this verse one time and never found another longer than this one. It has about 83 words in the 'Revised Standard Version',but not sure about the KJV. (Keep in mind that the numbers count as more than one word when spelled out.)
Also thought it interesting that it's found in ESTHER,the only book that doesn't mention the name of God.
Anyway,if anyone knows of a longer one then feel free to share it.

From Esther-8:9>>
"The king's secretaries were summoned at that time,in the third month which is the month of Sivan,on the 23rd day;and an edict was written according to all that Mordecai commanded,to the Jews and to the satraps and the governors and the officials of the provinces from India to Ethiopia,127 provinces to every province in it's own script and to every people in it's own language,and also to the Jews in their script and their language."

I would not doubt that your example is the longest verse; for anytime you get secrataries involved in somthing things really get windy.[8D]

If it were translated today, it would be one word longer. "Secretaries" would have to be "administrative assistants".
