Here are the lyrics from the song called Awesome God. It's one of my favorites.

quote:

When He rolls up His sleeves, He ain’t just puttin’ on the ritz
Our God is an awesome God

There is thunder in His footsteps and lightening in His fist
Our God is an awesome God

These verses always stir my heart - how AWESOME our God is!!!

Who else has held the oceans in his hand?
Who has measured off the heavens with his fingers?
Who else knows the weight of the earth
or has weighed the mountains and hills on a scale?
13 Who is able to advise the Spirit of the Lord?
Who knows enough to give him advice or teach him?
14 Has the Lord ever needed anyone’s advice?
Does he need instruction about what is good?
Did someone teach him what is right
or show him the path of justice?
15 No, for all the nations of the world are but a drop in the bucket.
They are nothing more than dust on the scales.
He picks up the whole earth as though it were a grain of sand. Isaiah 40:12-15

TrustingGod,

Thank you for the response. That is a great verse! I am going through the book of Kings right now in my daily devotions so I will be looking forward to that verse when I reach the book of Isaiah. To be quite honest, I was expecting more than just one response to my original post. Our God is an awesome God, right? Nevertheless, one respondant is better than nothing. Once again, thanks for sharing the verse! [:)]

I don't know how to provide the link to the entire passage because I'm not very good with computers. However, for those who are interested, the entire song is available on YouTube. Just type in Awesome God (worship video). Thanks.

Hello faithfulservant_

Back in 2002 while visiting my brother's family in another part of ILL. Sunday morning our family
gathered together at my brothers Church (LCMS). Personally, I heard the message that day about God being a Awesome God! So this is what happened...As the pastor was finishing up his sermon reading, I quitely clapped my hands in joy but quickly my parents who where also there shushed me to be quite. Lutherans are a quiet people but I was over joyed that day. Then the pastor said to the congregation, "who clapped their hands?" So I raised my hand and even then my family tried to silent me. But the pastor said in all my years of giving a sermon no one has ever clapped their hands for them. Then he said Thank You. At that then his entire congregation clapped their hands in agreement. Very exciting!!!

After the service while walking out of the Church I was singing this song, "Our God is an Awesome God who reigns" And other's joined in as we put our coats on.

Having Joy in the Lord Jesus is a good thing, isn't it?

Peter Daniel

Hi Peter,

Thanks for sharing! That was truly an inspirational story. I've got a similar one to share. Several years ago, I moved out of Anaheim to the Valley. Therefore, I left my home church and found a brand new church near my new home. But I found out that my old church was having a special Christmas Eve Worship Service. I wanted to go but I lived 3 hours away! Well, I decided to go anyways and drove 3 hours to my old church. After the service had ended, my pastor came up to me and asked "you drove here all the way from Valley just to attend our Christmas Eve Service?" I said to him "it was worth the drive and I'd do it again." Hey, if the wise men can journey for several years just to see Jesus Christ and honor Him with gifts, I'd figured I could drive 3 hours to come and honor my Lord. Having joy in the Lord is a very good thing.

For me He is awesome first of all because of Jesus, then He gave me life (and eternal life) , faith, HS.

My parents were great.

I enjoy a lot His creation ( also learning about the Universe and how He made it), i've got a wonderful godly husband, a very nice city to live in. A job i like.

Every day i learn something new about God and how amazing He is. Because of Jesus i am a child of God, i can talk to Him as my Father and have a close relationship with Him which is totally awesome.

I just can't live without Him
