You know that story that is all over the news. 2 year old baby is missing and the grandma finally finds out that the baby has been gone for weeks. I hear some on talk shows say that her mom sold her others think the little girl is dead. It makes me sad watching that on the news.

My best guess is that she did something irresponsible that resulted in the child's death and now is trying to cover it up. Grandma is covering something up as well and deserves a plaque in the Hall of Shame.

What is really shameful is how much coverage Fox News* has devoted to this. While I (of course) hope the child is OK (unlikely now) aren't there more important issues to discuss? This is a prime example of why we are so uninformed as a nation despite three 24 hour news channels. When I have to go to Jon Stewart to get fresh and unique perspectives (via his guests) you know there's a problem.

* I specify Fox News because that is the channel I watch. I tried to watch CNN but I just never seem to find the time. So while I suspect CNN and MSNBC are just as guilty as Fox of emphasizing this "non-news" (from what I have watched and what I read online) I will only speak of that which I know. Plus obviously shows like Greta Van Sustren's "On the Record" and Nancy Grace are exempt from that criticism since these shows specialize in that sort of thing. There is a place for that but when every Fox News show discusses this ad infinitum (even O Reilly does it) then it becomes a disgrace.

BTW: if you want to debate me on that CNN doesn't cover this too much please identify specific shows. I have a DVR and am not afraid to use it. I'd love to be proven wrong on this one but, at least in the case of Fox News, I'm afraid I won't be.

Thank you. I watch Fox as well. Thats why I can speak on it. I kinda hope CNN & MSNBC viewers chime in to see if they are the same way.

Just so I'm clear this isn't Fox bashing, they do several things well (awareness of legal and cultural issues for example) but this is one area in which they aren't doing so well. Maybe I'll start a Fox News thread so that this one doesn't veer anymore off topic.

I think she killed her, sold her or gave her away.

And, while I agree that there is a lot of coverage about this on all of the cable news networks, I think it is because they are really trying to get the girl's picture out there for someone to see her and report it. But at this point it doesn't seem likely.

What would be the motive for killing/selling the child? Cramping her lifestyle?

I'm not going to speculate, either, but I am interested in the case.

The strange stories from mom, the weird behavior of grandma...? I don't know. I definitely think someone is dead (because of the car evidence). I definitely think mom knows where the little girl is (whether she is responsible or not). I also sense grandma is hiding something. I also get the feeling the police know something and I wonder why they aren't acting yet.

I hope the little girl is okay and have been praying for her.

Reminds me of the Susan Smith case- she faked an abduction and her motive was because having kids was cramping her lifestyle... (though there were a lot of other factors/mental illness, etc). So it could just be that mom killed dd (accidently or deliberately) so she could party and is now trying to throw the police off her trail and grandma doesn't want to believe grand-daughter is gone and her dd is responsible. It could be that simple.

I don't watch much news anymore. I really only watch a few days a week when my DH is home to watch it with me. I was watching the other morning when they had that guy that used to be a talk show host before he got his nose broken in an on air fight. He thinks she is dead. He does not think the mom murdered her but through her negligence her daughter died. He also thinks that her mom is protecting her daughter since she already lost her granddaughter. That makes sense from her interviews when the little girl was first missing. She looked like someone who was in denial. When she was in court and the detective said he considered this case to be a homicide investigation the grandmother was shaking her head like someone who knew someone precious to them was gone but not ready to except it yet.
I was horrified by the release of the phone conversations of this girls mother. She was actually mad that the only thing people cared about was getting her daughter back instead of her. When her friend started crying telling her that she would die if anything happened to her little girl she got angry again that the focus was on the baby instead of her. I wonder if she has one of those personalities that has no conscience and feels no remorse.

Yes I do think that woman killed her child. Her actions show that she is not innocent.

I do not know if she killed her or if the child died accidently and the mother just did not want to deal with it.

But there is definately something rotten in Denmark over this.

Thanks

So it won't get confusing, here are the names involved:
Casey Anthony - mother of the missing 2 yr. old
Cynthia Anthony - mother of Casey Anthony and grandmother of missing 2 yr. old.
Caylee Anthony - 2 year old missing girl (lmost 3 yrs. old)

Casey Anthony is guilty of doing something illegal; either killing the baby herself or she has knowledge of someone else who did. She has changed her story numerous times and has said that she doesn't want to say where her baby is to protect her. I don't buy it because she could have talked to the FBI or an authority higher up the chain if she did not trust the police.

You can listen to the first 911 call and get a little bit of background about Casey Anthony because Casey's mom accused her of stealing the car. The 2nd call is disturbing because the grandmother is hysterical and stating that it smelled like there was a dead body in the car.
http://www.wftv.com/news/16981004/detail.html

Later the Cynthia Anthony changed her story and is defending her daughter. I would ask that since Casey was living with her, why didn't she ask where her granddaughter was. If there was a 2 yr. old living in your house and then one day she is gone, wouldn't you ask where she is? How about 1 week later, you wouldn't be suspicious and ask where the baby is? Well the baby was missing for a month before she called the police.

There have been a few twists in that authorities called in a psychic team to search for the toddler and a bail-bondsman from the show "Bounty Hunters" on the National Geographic Channel has bonded Casey out.

We've had kids around here that were sold or traded for drugs. That's one reason someone might do that.

Based on the large amount of calls she made the day the little one went missing, I think the girl died accidently, since that says to me someone who is frantic and trying to get ahold of someone. I think it soon dawned on her that she could very well get in big trouble, since she could very well be blamed or get some charges, so she then took measures to hide her body and divert the invesitgators. Just a theory--I can't really say for sure until they know more.

Tests just came back that there was a dead body in the car Casey was driving. They are waiting DNA to prove is was that precious baby girl so they can re arrest the mother for murder.

I cannot believe cops use psychics. And, there is no end to the depths that pub-seeking reality show types will go.

I don't know what happened so all we can do is speculate on what could have happened to little Caylee. I do believe that Casey (mom) is and has been hiding a great deal of info. I personally doubt that she has been honest with anyone regarding her child.

My own personal view, I suspect that the child is dead and mom was involved in some manner in either her death or disposal of her body. Casey's unwillingness or inability to speak open and honest with investigators doesn't lend one to believe that she pure as the driven snow. She's obviously hiding something. I'm curious to see what DNA results show.

Let me venture a guss; the dingbat mother hauled the dead daughter around in the trunk of the car till the smell got too bad, and then buried her somewhere.

If it was murder or an accident I have no clue, but either way the mother should be tied down in an ant bed and honey poured over her.

But that might just be me.

Thanks
RC

One way or another I believe she is responsible for the child's death.

Ive been following this story sooo close - i watch Nancy Grace every night just to get new updates.
I think Casey killed Caylee - absolutely. Otherwise she would talk to someone and tell them what happened. It already came back that there was proof several times of human decomposition in the trunk of her car and also the DNA samples of the hair showed it was likely Caylee's and also that there was decomposition on it.
Its a sad story. I feel for the grandparents.
Im just glad Padilla is revoking Caseys' bond and she will be back behind bars on Saturday.

This is one reason why I despise the media. Can I say despise? That may be to hard of a word. But really, who are we to speculate on what happened to this child. We do not have all the information, nor are we entitled to all the information.

It is one thing to pray for and be concerned about these people, but to speculate over whether or not this mother killed her child and accuse the grandparents of things as well is just to much. It is not our business and we need to be careful about being judgemental.
